Cope with Smith and we have a chance.
Better yet, minimise crosses into the box.

Innis vs Smith would have been a great battle.

On Day 6 (0r is it 7 ?) of my 21 day hotel quarantine and the biggest excitement is being permitted to open the door for a few seconds to put my rubbish out at 2pm every day, so this is a big event for me even if it means getting up at 3.45 am.

Rotherham are evidently a very strong side offensively and I do worry about old Captain Pearcey despite his excellent showing against Donny. This will be a sterner test.

Still think we will sneak it if we get a good start and the crowd gets going. There is no pressure on us and a draw would be no disgrace at all.

I will go 2-1 with a Pearce 94 minute header to clinch it.

We’re 27/10 with Paddy Power for the win. Are Rotherham really that good? I guess we’ll find out tonight. Perhaps the bookies have underestimated us?

I think this away form table suggests the bookies aren't stupid - tonight is going to be a tough test

Silly question time (as a very rare and infrequent gambler) why is 27/10 different to 2.7/1?

    For this one I'd go:

    MacGillivray
    Matthews - Pearce - Famewo
    Dobson
    Jaiyesimi - Gilbey - Lee - Purrington
    Stockley - Washington

(Btw the formation is whatever we've been playing but BBC describe it as above)

Is one of these fraction odds and the other decimal odds ? The 2.7/1 should be shown as 2.71:1.

Acid test. We’re at home and need to make a fist of it. Good performance is absolutely required even if the result goes against us. This will be tough.

I'd be tempted to go with Clare at RWB and Davison for Washington tonight. As Rotherham are physical and good in the air, I think those changes make sense and both are good players with their strengths suited to this game.

Possibly, I don't often bet on sport, but would they output the same?

I think the BBC do it like that as the five names across the middle don’t fit.

The only change I would make to your line up is that I would play Gunter instead of Mathews.
Solely because Gunter has been picked for Wales. If Mathews gets injured we will be short in that position so may as well protect him.

A decimal expression shows the total return, so 2.7 would return £2.70 for a £1 stake.
However, 27/10 would return £3.70, being £2.70 profit plus the £1 stake.

If we had put the same effort all season as we have done in the last 2 games, their is no doubt we would have been up their with Rotherham. If a danger man needs nullifying Jason Pearce is the man to do it(Remember Mitrovic, and Smith of Millwall),he loves a challenge and will not let us down.Every player is now up for it and fighting for the shirt, fully expect a win tonight.

We’ve a better chance of getting something out of this now with Jackson driving but it’s still going to be hard and I’m expecting a narrow defeat. This season for me is still all about staying up. Provided we do that I’m satisfied if not exactly happy. This season has been an absolute disaster and even forgetting Sandgaards ridiculous ambitions has been a total waste and yet another campaign in this poxy division next season. Not only that, but it looks to me like another massive squad rebuild next summer.

I don't want to see us changing the side to counter them. Stick with what's worked the past 2 games and let them worry about us

I'm still not convinced that we're experiencing anything more than a new manager bounce. If we score early and keep playing at a high tempo or concede and the players keep showing for the ball I'll be pleasantly surprised and start to believe.

Proper buzzing for tonight. Was excited for Saturday and boy did that deliver. Amazing how feelings and mindset can change in such a short space of time. Long may that can continue!

    Up the Reds!

Looking forward to tonight - if anything, Saturday was so easy that the crowd eased off half way through the second half - going by whats being said about Rotherham, i think the crowd are gonna be 'needed' to the end tonight so we have a big contribution to make - COYR!!!!

Play Matthews, a man who can barely cross, as our sole right flank presence? That'd be both cowardly and stupid. DJ is a confidence player; he'll be confident, let him at Rotherham
Rotherham have proper wingbacks who have played in that position all season. DJ has played wingback for an hour (probably in his whole career) against the worst team in the division against whom he had to do no defending.
But why not let him be destroyed, it will do his fragile confidence the world of good. Or ma ybe play Kirk there, also a confidence player.
We should continue on with what's working and play to our strengths, not worry about theirs and negatively affect our system. We're set up to have an attacking player on the right flank offset by having a specialist right back in the defensive three. Take that away and we're just begging to be put under pressure, and with a player who will get dominated in the air in Gunter. Our defensive set-up is built to force their team back, not to sit deep and absorb attack after attack. Powell made this mistake early on in the 11/12 season. He knew Stevenage were going to throw big men at our back line so he dropped Solly, our best player at that point, and put Morrison at RB. Morrison is a terrible RB and we lost our first game of the season because we worried more about their strengths than ours. Powell never made that mistake again and I'd be surprised if it's not something Jackson remembers well.

I think punters like to keep it simple. What do I get back if I bet a tenner? £27 (+ my original tenner). No messing with decimal points.

Based on what we’ve seen over the last couple of matches I’m not sure ‘massive’ is justified.

The OS has put up goals of the last time we played Rotherham in 2018.

Michał Żyro scored for us. Another player from the Roland years I have zero recollection of….

After JFC returns I'd say we're one shit-hot forward away, especially if Deji signs

Well said, and if it looks like we’re getting overwhelmed down our right flank we could take steps at that point, by bringing on Clare. But Rotherham would need to earn that change.

Good left foot. Hardly ever got on the ball.

Definitely. Treat this season as pre-season for next, so we can't use our good old excuses.
