To be fair to Malan, the 1st wicket went down after a massive opening partnership, so we just needed people to come in and smash the ball alongside Hales. If it had been 9-1, then someone who could build an innings might have been more useful. Especially if it wasn't a road, like the Perth wicket.
It was a perfect illustration of why Malan should be picked. Insurance in case we lose a wicket, but can be pushed down the order to let bigger hitters go in when we get a fast start.
Indeed. We should open with Topley and Wood and when Topley gets out first ball we should push Rashid down the order.
personally not a fan of moving some one around the order in t20 unless in incredibly specific circumstances ie we have 5 balls left and its a choice between malan or stokes/livingstone. Otherwise - keep the batting order the same. Everyone knows their place and their role in the team.

Number 3s role is very different at 0/1 in the 1st to 124/1 in the 12th isn't it?
Moeen batted for CSK at 3. He isn't just a hitter either. As well as being the "finisher", Livingstone can bowl leggies to right handers and off breaks to left handers - especially useful with a shorter boundary one side of the ground.

That's as valid as any of your other opinions, you're perfectly entitled to it. But I don't imagine there will be much support for it.
Archer keeps his central contract despite not playing for more than 18 months. Malan and Roy reduced to Incremental. No contracts for Jordan, Tom Curran and Dom Bess. Crawley is one lucky lad - not many batsman have ever been rewarded for averaging 20.58 over a two year period (39 innings) with a full central contract.

Surprised about Jordan and T Curran, especially the latter as Jordan is 34, so perhaps being eased out.
Bess was another over promoted young spinner. He moved to Yorkshire to enhance his England prospects by playing more...
Bowling make up feels wrong, think we need Jordan in there as a specialist death bowler. Curran/Woakes are both most effective with the new ball but Wood and Topley can do that job so I would only have one of Curran/Wood.
How can they review something about 20 mins after the ball?
Off goes Warner the cheat, who fell pretty heavy, to be replaced by king cheat Smith. It's a game of who denrages me the least between Warner, Smith, Zampa and Wade.

Interesting that Crawley keeps his central contract, but Lees gets nothing
Livingstone and Foakes get full contracts
Well done foakes for getting that central contract, richly deserved.

I do like Cummins though.
