Bowling was dreadful with the new ball and we can’t bat under pressure … against a very ordinary WI side
They aren’t a great side filled with superstars but I wouldn’t say they are ordinary. Roach, Seales, Holder and Mayers would walk into our bowling attack when the two legends aren’t around.
Truth is, you take Anderson, Broad, Root, Stokes and occasionally Bairstow out of this side and England are worse than ordinary at this moment in time.
We had WI 95-6 in their innings and they had us 53-6 in our 1st so it’s possible to rack up some runs once the ball softens if one or two can apply themselves.
And there you have a case of the keeper getting in the ear of the batsman and the batsman being stupid enough to bite. Another dismissal to a T20 shot.

And that sledging yesterday of Da Silva's strike rate proved to be pretty embarrassing anyway when he raised his bat for a MoM century

Trying to find a cricket today that our batsmen didn't contribute to:
Crawley - threw hands at a front foot drive Root - threw hands at a backfoot punch Lawrence - shouldered arms Stokes - left his bat hanging Bairstow - tried to pull a ball that wasn't there to pull Foakes - ran himself out
Those are the sort of dreadful decisions that a bunch of U14s would get torn a strip off for. These are meant to be international cricketers
I was going to post earlier that there had been very few players out bowled in this Test, and also in the series. Then in a matter of a few hours 2 of our batsman are clean bowled.
Root needs to step down as captain. He had chances to win the previous 2 Tests but decided to bat on for far too long.
Trescothick saying let’s not judge the team on one day because they’ve done a lot of good in the first two tests. I love the man but the first two tests were not result pitches. This one is and they’ve failed.

You can bet your bottom dollar that privately he won't be quite so supportive.

There was never a second run there. Never. Especially given the state of the game.

Mayers' figures for the match now are a stupendous 20-10-22-6. This is someone who, whilst being almost 30, had only played 10 Test matches.
Make that 20.2-10-22-7 plus a run out too
Abysmal.
