while not the news you wanted it shows that your medical team have your best interests at heart (sorry) - so it will take a little longer than you hoped but better to take longer than not return to the Valley - keep fighting Malc.
Malc, 6 months is what I was told so normal, as is stay in ITU after the operation. Stay strong - I came through it. They have to paint the worst picture to cover themselves. Come on you Addicks.
Clearly not the news you'd hoped for but I'm sure the experts know what's required to get you to " RM, Mk 2 " & fit for your triumphant return to The Valley.
Thank you for your kind comments. I'm very conscious that others have not and may not be as lucky as me to have the option, that I am hugely aware of!!. However, maybe because of my inherent competitive nature, I have to have a goal to aim for, I did with my heart failure, and I have with this bloody disease as well. Im very very scared of the surgery, but when they told me 3 months to recover, I set my 'goal' on getting down to The Valley for the 1st game of the season, and I geared everything to that. When I was told on Friday sorry it's 6 months and there are a few more risks, it 'blew a hole in my goals' and left me feeling very down. My MH is poor at the moment, because of 'the bag', and the new news hasn't helped. I know with your support I've got a great chance of making it, I just, over the next few days need to readjust my goals, and I will! On a positive note, my thanks to this WONDERFUL club of ours and especially Tracey Leaburn and a well known poster on here!! Thursday evening I received 2 video messages of support, 1 from Dobbo and 1 jointly from Miles and Harry Isted! They thanked me for my many years of support, wished me well in my battle and said they looked forward to seeing me back down The Valley soon. What a lovely gesture and a huge pick me up!! What a club and what a set of caring supporters we have. Thank you Malc x Live, Love, Laugh and Be Happy #fxxkcancer #DarkerTheShadowBrighterTheLight
Hang on in there mate. From experience Their predictions are often the worst case scenario and i suspect you will be back at the valley sooner than you think good luck
My mum had cancer which spread to her bones and one tumor was wrapped around spinal cord. Not many surgeons were willing to operate to remove it but she wanted it gone and one brave doctor did and she lived for another 10 years. I honestly think if she didn't do it she would have passed earlier and it wasn't that issue that caused her to pass. Hang in there mate. You are brave and have a good outlook on life which will go a long way. All the best.
