Rebecca Welch to referee Charlton vs Burton

Thought in the first 10 minutes she might have struggled, players from both sides very quick to surround her on a couple of moments, but she stood her ground and from then on there wasn't much dissent from the players5
-
Better than Trevor Kettle, that’s for sure. One of the better refs this season, IMO5
-
She was excellent. Possibly the best ref this season.
I don't remember a better one.22 -
That was her only mistake today. Very good ref, didnt notice her which is how it should be.bolloxbolder said:Very impressive performance but she should have issued a red on 10 minutes for the two footed tackle.3 -
One of the better refs but it was a definite red as has been said.0
-
While there have been a few bad ones, I don't think the standard of officiating this season has been that bad overall. Indeed it's regularly been a lot better than the standard of our football0
-
Thought Rebecca was very good. Yes I agree with others that it should jave been a red card. But overall very good and took no shit from anyone. I saw Hasselbank going crazy in the tunnel at her after the game but not sure she missed any key moments for them.0

I remember a lady linesperson signalled a penalty offence to us against Port Vale around 1996 or so. Vale players gave her abuse but she just stood there ,flag out and told the referee what she saw. Unlike the assistant referees of today who see sod all.charltonman2016 said:Have heard Rebecca is doing very well in her 1st season as an EFL Referee after making history last season. Rumoured to be on course for a promotion to the Championship already!
Can't be worse than some we have had this season.0 -
Good referee, I take it?Lincsaddick said:shame it's not Rebecca Curtis .. now she is WELL worth watching0 -

The tackle could've been a red in real time but a very impressive performance and much better than most of the female refs I have seen watching the WSL.

Can see why she’s already on the Championship list for next season.Makes a nice change to have a decent ref in this league.3

I sympathise with your domestic situation but that’s no excuse for unfunny “jokes”.golfaddick said:

Jesus.....I cant win on here can I. Make a joke and people moan, be myself & I'm labelled a meaner.
And btw. I'm one of the least male chauvinist blokes you'll find. I'm currently bringing up 3 teenagers on my own. I cook, clean, do the washing & ironing, the food shopping & work 5 days a f**king week. I get nothing from either the Government in the way of child benefit or maintenance from the ex wife.
Now put that in your pipe & smoke it !!!!2 -
Good but bottled the red card.1

Don’t think he was looking for your sympathy and if you didn’t find his original ‘joke’ funny then fine but jeez some people need to get a life.AddicksAddict said:

You are not the sole judge on whether something is funny or not, or do you consider yourself a 'comedy policeman', sorry, 'comedy policeperson.'2 -
Got the biggest decision of the game wrong. We end up losing that game there would be none of the positive comments on here about the refs performance no matter how well she did for the rest of the game7

Good. I hope he has a thoroughly miserable evening, the lazy b*****d.charltonman2016 said:Thought Rebecca was very good. Yes I agree with others that it should jave been a red card. From where I sat, upper covered end towards the AC stand, I didn’t think it was a red, probably yellow and said the game had gone soft.1
-
Excellent display in a low tempo, albeit not an entirely clean game . Calm authority , seemed to want to referee a game of football, not to draw attention to herself as most refs in this league like to do . She will be a good ref in higher divisions if today is anything to go by2
-
Bar the Blatant 2 footed studs up challenge on Dobson after 10 minutes that she bottled up giving just a yellow she was fine. Good job we won!Mr Finnie on Tuesday night v Gillingham was very good2
-
Agreed, but can see why a red wasn’t issued that early to be fair - might not be right and we all thought it was a red, but a tough (early) call to make. Other than that she was very goodbolloxbolder said:Very impressive performance but she should have issued a red on 10 minutes for the two footed tackle.0 -
Yeah what next we let em wear trousers?! Then all the men won’t want to wear em cos all the wimmin are in em and then all the men will all start wearing dressis. It’s an ABOMINATION.ValleyOfTears said:charltonman2016 said:Have heard Rebecca is doing very well in her 1st season as an EFL Referee after making history last season. I hope she will be successful and successfully utilised refereeing women's football instead of mens. This relentless push for replacing men with women in every sphere of life may look like some "great leap forward" [to the woke among us] I think it will do in refereeing what it does elsewhere ~ it will turn many very able men away from ever wishing to now pursue that particular profession. It is not the sex of the referee that needs changing, it's the standard of refereeing that needs improving.
As The West slowly sinks further and further into the abyss, we can be thankful that all this woke nonsense will go down with it. And hope for a return to common sense, tradition and family values and clear roles for men and women to live by and follow and a welcome return to calling a spade a spade.
Wishing Rebecca all the very best refereeing the ladies.

Also, I’d hate any police person to be a judge. They’re two totally different professions requiring different skill sets.0 -
I’m ashamed to share a football team with someone who can spout this sexist drivel.ValleyOfTears said:charltonman2016 said:Have heard Rebecca is doing very well in her 1st season as an EFL Referee after making history last season. I hate to also tell you that Rachael Blackmore was the winning Gold Cup jockey yesterday.
Anyway, wishing you a happy 150th birthday.25
