If we're deciding to not sign a striker, I wonder if one of our 9s might fit that Firminho type role. Off the top of my head I'd suggest someone like Payne might be suitable if not a little lightweight. Just somebody techincal to link up play as our wingers or Fraser push on forward. I'm not convinced we have that player at our club but might be a rotation option should Stockley go on a 3/4 game goal drought.0

For supporters it’s frustrating that it’s so obvious that we need to strengthen our attacking options in the full knowledge that failure to do so will probably cost us a chance of top six. I have little doubt that TS and BG know exactly this and are working hard to get it sorted out. The season hasn’t started and the window isn’t closed. Perhaps the sensible thing to do is to wait for both events to happen before we either slate the owner or panic.24

Nixon has also linked Kemar Roofe to Sheffield Wednesday, on loan from Rangers.
He’s apparently on near 30k a week so I reckon we can rule him out for us0 -
If I remember rightly, the only weakness in Garner`s outstanding stats last year at Swindon was his goals against tally. I think it might have been one of the highest?
Its all very well playing better to watch, possession football, if in the end it brings in the points.
Dobson`s outstanding peformance last season regularly stopped many opponents attacks from going further than around the half way line. Marshalling as he did across the whole mid-field area many threats did not even reach our very shaky defence to do more damage.
I wonder if Garner would consider the worth of "a Dobson" doing the same prevention job this year to keep the goals against stats down whilst fitting into his desired method of play?

JFC and Dobson played Friday, and I watched it on the stream, was at the Valley yesterday.
I can’t for the life of me detect any obvious schism between either midfields, there may be fag paper differences but none that say he leaves and he stays, he’s a sub he plays.
Right now for me the first three names on the team sheet for Accrington would be CBT, O’Connell and Clare.4 -

We needed a left back - told be patient & we have until the window closes. On deadline day we signed Saoure who was not match fit. Ditto Arter
Aug 31st will be too late. I said so last season & wasn't wrong. Do you want me to be right again 🙄4 -

Thought he’d already been signed. Go all out to get him! He is a fantastic prospect. Was the best player for half a season in league one 18 months ago. To prove the point it was Morgan who closed the keeper down for the comical own goal, yet he was supposed to be the holding midfielder. The rigidity of formations are a thing of the past and unless you are playing Man City or Liverpool in the Cup as a minnow and play 5-4-1 !0 -

If Dobson leaves it will be for one of two reasons, either he wants a move or has had his head turned or TS has been approached and likes the sound of the offer. BG would be mad to let the best performer for a season leave, when there are still other players of inferior fitness, effort, quality or favour, thus it would be both a shock and significant disappointment if he goes. He's a player that doesn't just give his all, he makes a difference, whereas many others hide or let the game pass them by. If we have too many midfielders then kick out some other time waster. Dobson is one for the future at any club, not a journeyman that is simply filling a hole.

He suited the way we played last year. The way we played last year had us massively underachieving. That’s not faulting Dobson. It’s just facts.
If Garner doesn’t think Dobson fits the way he wants to play, then I’ll trust him to make that judgement. He’s a good tackler and he has ability with the long passes. But I’d suggest his short passing game and his shooting leave a bit to be desired.
Remember when we lost player of the season Jose Semedo in the summer of 2012? He was about the only decent player we had in a team that finished 13th. He was good at tackling but couldn’t shoot either.
We don’t have to shoehorn a player into the first XI just because they were the best of a bad bunch last year.18 -
Perhaps he reads CL and was worried about talk on here of making him a CB.2

The best team is not always the one with the best 11 players, but the one that has players that work together and suit each other and fit the system and strategy most.
I personally don't think we're actively looking at moving Dobson on at all but if a good enough offer comes in then it might be that he goes.1 -

In what universe does the way Garner want to play not include George Dobson ?
A player that was good in a mediocre team but would be shoehorned into this side ?
May just be speculation, but it would be crazy to let a player leave that have proven they can play consistently despite the erratic play around them.
Feel there could be legs in this story as know how the merry go round works from owners, agents and being in or out with new managers. George Dobson won't be short of offers.
