Come in number 3, let's be havin' you.
Come in number 7, who is the forward that can cross, go central to support, play 90 minutes, assist goals, score 15+, graft, tackle, good team player, tea total, dedicated Professional, respected by his team mates, worshipped by the fans.
What is this player doing in League 1 🤔1 -
For what it's worth, with a month to go, I think our transfer window so far has been pretty impressive31

I do feel that a portion of our fanbase need to wake up and realise we are a league one side. People seem to expect us to be spending millions on household names.SCMP means we can only spend 60% of turnover on wages. Sensibly this stops clubs paying way beyond their means unless they have a super rich owner who is happy to throw money at it at their own cost and not risking the future of the club.Overall considering the limitations of being a league one club I think we have assembled a good squad that should be competing for the top 6 at a minimum. We can probably all agree our defence and midfield look stronger than the last few years, yes we need a couple of additions up top to give us options but one is almost through the door and we should sign another prior to the window closing. It feels like a corner of our support will use any excuse to bash the club/owner. We are a third division side with a top end third division budget.Myself, I am excited to see how we get on this season. BG will have us playing a good style of football and I am confident he will get us into the playoffs.39

After all I've paid for my ST so I'm entitled to my opinion and pick the captain.

With the window open for another month Prem teams will not let their fringe players go until they have their squads sorted, this filters down the leagues and means clubs at the bottom also have to wait. Unless you are prepared to pay over the odds on all your signings to get them done early then this will always be the case while the window is in its current format.Personally I would like to see the window close for all leagues in the world prior to the season starting but I can't see that happening.8

Garner confirms we’re looking for signings in three positions.

I assume that’s out wide (JRS), up front and someone who can play LCB and LB.
I await the meltdown if it’s JRS, LB and LCB without a striker coming in.6 -

As we've been discussing Stockley as captain, it would be a shame to spoil this thread with any transfer rumours.
Ben Garner in the SLP today:
“I was really impressed with Jayden from day one. To see his character around the place, how he drives himself and he’s at the stage of his career where he wants to help others as well. He understands how important the performance of the group is to help him in his own career.“He’ll be key to us on the pitch this season as well.”

Shows to me how he's seen as such a progressive Manager with how the Sport has changed.
Quite like this side of him, along with the incident with the fan last week... Nothing wrong being set in our ways, but the Sport continuously changes in styles, so we as fans need to move with those times too0 -
grumpyaddick said:Then most inexplicable part of the wholly unimpressive transfer window to date was letting Purrington leave when we have no recognised left back for the opening fixture and no one claiming the number 3 shirt.
Guess what part of our defence Accrington will be targeting from the start.1 -

Never win anything like that.6 -

lost 2 strikers that haven't been replaced
lost a left footed left back that hasn't been replaced
recruited 3 defenders, a defensive midfielder, a goalkeeper (that wasn't a priority) and 1 attacking midfielder.
In a team last year that didn't score enough goals to even get into the top half of the league. I understand you "build from the back" but goals win you games.
Currently I would give the "rebuild" 5 out of 10. The squad itself about a 7 (and that's being generous)
We start our first game tomorrow with just 1 fit striker. If Stockley gets injured or sent off tomorrow we have big problems.
But I'm just a doom monger & everything will be alright once the transfer window closes on Sept 1st.

Just want to lighten the mood by saying I saw someone on Twitter refer to our constantly injured impact forward as Chuks A&Eke.

The goalkeeping position was a priority. No way McG is able to effectively play the way we want to this year.8 -

Correct:
Jayden was born in Poole;
He was born the same year as my son, a mere 4 months later
I had a great chat to Jayden just after the season ended at a NT property in Sussex,we had a mutual acquaintance and so he knew who I was ! even standing on my soapbox he was tall. Jayden's wife was feeding the baby boy so I tried not to stare as we chatted away about Football, Dorset and how he didn't want to move to the North with his wife and 3 children.
He said about the Sheffield Wednesday interest from when he was on loan at cafc but he genuinely loved his time at Charlton despite the disappointment of the season.
No surprise when they considered JS again but Michael Smith had the shorter move from Rotherham to Sheffield. I had the cheek to say Sean Clare should be an attacking RB as he loves to run; JS said that could well happen as Matthews was leaving and new CB coming in as well as Deji being in the squad as well.
This was non transfer news but it could have been so different.6
