Logs in. Sees lots of posts on rumours thread. Reads through loads of bollocks about Stockley being captain on a rumours thread. If only there were a thread about that.

For all his footballing shortcomings and faults, Pearce epitomised this. I'd give it to Inniss, O'Connell, Dobson or McGrandles based on that alone

Stockley is a good striker if the team play to his strengths. From what we have seen in pre season the manager is not playing to his strengths, that does not make Stockley a bad striker just an ineffective one in attack.3

He’s strong, good at holding it up and laying it off, he’s good and getting into good positions in the box and he is a real handful for defenders. The main criticism for the style of play that I can see is he’s not the quickest. But with fast players around him that should be fine.1 -
I mean, there are question marks over his ability to control and pass on the deck as well, but he'll definitely be working on that, and his sheer presence in the box is admittedly quite the feature0

Is the wooden spoon playing up front instead of Stockley ??0 -

They seem to be listening to the manager and singing from similar song sheets.13 -
Who’s to say that it was Garner that chose Jayden to be captain ? Perhaps there was a dressing room vote. Seems like we have a few leaders and ex captains within the squad now. Perhaps it wasn’t a straightforward managers choice.1

Sunderland have signed Ellis Simms0

Just had to check I was on the right thread...yes this is the rumours thread and not the "I love/hate Stockley as captain thread". Any rumours?1

Btw, you read it here first: the Devon Lewandowski3

I really hope its the managers choice, its not a democracy in the dressing room it should be a Dictatorship.0 -

cafc_harry said:Ultimately the players will have had some say on who’s made captain with the new manager coming in and Stockley seems to have been the favourite the whole time. I’m not really keen on the captain being up top myself but I’m sure there’s an understanding that O’Connell is in charge at the back.
There's your answer!

Correct:
Jayden was born in Poole; a water birth ?3 -
Then most inexplicable part of the wholly unimpressive transfer window to date was letting Purrington leave when we have no recognised left back for the opening fixture and no one claiming the number 3 shirt.
Guess what part of our defence Accrington will be targeting from the start.4 -

In fairness we have signed Sessegnon to play left back, a position he has played a large amount of his career in. It is not unheard of for a predominantly right footed player to play at left back, indeed Joao Cancelo was arguably the best left back in the world last season and he is right footed.
We will sign a left sided defender without a doubt, but it will likely be someone who can play LB and LCB and will be cover for SS.
