I'd charge you with reading back over every post in this lengthy & ultimately disappointing thread and tell me whether there are more Lifers questioning the merits & backing of our owner at this crucial time of the new season, than there are those confident that he has it all in hand.
I'm not saying that some comments about the lack of incoming are a touch OTT but I'm sure you might agree that the football supporter is an emotional being and the wellbeing of his/her/it's football club is very high on their list of priorities. This is why we spend our hard earned on tickets, travel, even hospitality in some cases and all we ask is honesty & a degree of success year on year in return. Emotions are bound to run high tonight based on the hopes we had just 24 hours ago following conversations with the owner's son... who is an adult with a "decent" CV , we are led to believe, and not a young man in his first job.
It would be an almost impossible task to forget those positive, exciting words uttered by out "Great Dane" when he first arrived in SE7 & although time getting to know him has somewhat dampened our hopes ( and dreams) , there will always be huge disappointment when things appear to be on a knife edge - even on a downward trajectory. With just ONE senior striker in the matchday squad , a highly promising Young Gun who those ITK state must not be overplayed plus an injury prone player whose ability to play a full game even when fit is doubtful, I suggest respectfully that you surely cannot be happy with that state of affairs. Ben Garner will need to be a magician of the highest order if he is to have any chance of conjuring enough goals from this line up to get us in the top 6 come May. I wish him well, of course & hope that somehow he will succeed.
Disappointed, concerned, angry plus the feeling of being misled - those are inevitably some of the emotions felt as the window slams shut with some expressing these feelings better than others. The old chestnut regarding "doing the transfer business " early has come back to haunt us again even though it appeared that lessons had been learned.
If it wasn't clear that TS is anxious to cut costs in any way possible, then the redundancy of Olly Groome should have made even the most sceptical of fans think again. The price of matchday tickets when announced, in itself, should have been a warning of his modus operandi but his lack of experience in the Beautiful Game plus his determination to do it his way should have been a distinct warning ...but some are determined not to question anything, it seems.
So, yes, I can fully understand why some of our Lifers might come across as less than level headed tonight.

You'd have thought free agent CBs would be easier to find that goalscoring strikers. Failing that, I hope Jason Pearce is keeping fit...
As an aside, when he was released as a player (alongside Famewo going back), I'm sure the intention would have been the bring in TWO additional CBs, otherwise we might just have given Pearce another year as 4th choice.

On balance better that we didn’t sign players who are no better than we already have just for the sake of it.

I'm as gutted as everyone it's clear a striker was needed and the club didn't get one. Maybe football fans in general get too hung up on the transfer market when we've got a great crop of youngsters coming through. Could be like the mid 90's again when Rufus, Newton etc all broke through into the team.
I refuse to believe that Garner is happy with Stockley, Aneke and Leaburn as his only strikers. Hell, I refuse to believe he would happy if Bonne was the name added to that contingent.

Gallen not blameless in all this though. I know a lot of fans view him largely immune from criticism cos he worked wonders on an extremely tight budget under Roland - but the recruitment has got so lazy over recent times. No other club brings back the amount of ex players we do.
gallen is a big problem, got lazy in recruitment, and look at old players like leko and bonne, not good enough. all the decent signings this season wollacott, rak sayki, payne come from garners contacts

This is me I'm bored of being torn a strip off because we failed to do what any club of our size and stature that released SEVENTEEN players and signed SEVEN should do and bring in a CF and CH that EVERYBODY thinks we need, EVEN INCLUDING THE OWNER!

And in the previous window came from the infamous ‘black box’ largely - Dobson and Clare come to mind.
TS wants out, I’m convinced of that, not just because of today but because of the serious cost cutting going on that really does beggar belief. If any more cuts are made it will seriously affect our ability to function as a proper football club off the pitch.
Deadline day always seems to be an anti-climax for us. I know every club wants an extra player or two but for some reason we always, always seem to be 1 or 2 players short of an excellent window. This year is no different and whilst we've made some good signings it still feels like another couple of signings would have rounded the squad off and left it to Garner to go and prove his worth with a decent squad at his disposal.
A centre half would have been great given Inniss's known injury issues but we appear to have a lot of prospects in the youth team in defence and perhaps an injury will throw the door open to one of them. We have been there in the past where we have had to throw youngsters in at the deep end and it hasn't always worked out badly, so will just have to see how that goes. As others have pointed out its almost inevitable that Inniss picks up an injury at some point which leaves us relying on the two other centre backs not being injured or suspended.
Each to their own but I wouldn't have minded Bonne back, and I can't for the life of me understand the abuse he seems to attract from some quarters.
We signed him from non-league and played him in a division 3 steps above, and he did well enough to earn a move back there the following season. He isn't the complete player but we are a League One club so complete players are unlikely to be signing for us, especially when we seem to be operating with a budget and not throwing cash around (rightly or wrongly).
I think he did a perfectly reasonable job for us the first time and think he would have done a perfectly reasonable job for us again. He is certainly better than what nothing which is what we ultimately ended up with. As a Charlton fan I'm clearly bias but it does feel lots of very good forwards have moved to clubs that are comparable to us in terms of size and it does beg a question as to why we haven't been able to get any of them through the door.
Hearts are a huge club but surely we could have been in with a shout at Humphrys? Same again with Hibs and Mckirdy. And Jephcott going to League Two with Swindon really caught my eye as well, they are not known for throwing money about so surely he's not earning any more there than we could have offered him.

I know people are disappointed, and rightly so, but we brought in a new manager and seven players who all seem like they could be good additions in this window. Did we come up short? Yes. But asset striping means selling off anything that can be sold. And we didn't sell, we bought.
I don't agree with the comments from Gallen about only wanting players who will improve the team, as in the case of the centre back position in particular, we need an extra body. Obviously it would be great to sign a CB better than our current 3, but we don't NEED that, we just need someone who can play the position when we have injuries and suspensions, which will happen.
That 4th choice loan player only NEEDS to be better than Ness and Elewere.

We didn’t buy anyone (other than Garner and Marshall) but yeah asset stripping is way too far. We’ve kept hold of a few first team players we could get fees for and the likes of Leaburn/Henry.
