I also hope that Euell stays because he will be important with the link between Garner and Hayes. The way that Garner will want us to play will be easier for the academy players to transition into as it will be similar to how they play. Getting that link and relationship right is going to be key in the next year or two. Players like Henry could thrive, you never know.
Safe to say THomas couldn’t confirm it last week because it wasn’t confirmed - so he’s not a liar he’s just dealing with what was accurate at the time.
time will tell soon enough if it’s the right appointment but hopefully a new coaching setup as well as those already there - will give us more of a sense of identity. I look forward to it if it’s true.
A couple of weeks ago I had a long chat with one of the senior employees at Charlton. He said the following
”Thomas doesn’t get involved in the day to day squad stuff, and doesn’t choose the transfers and leaves that to others more qualified. He just signs the cheques Are things perfect? - No they aren’t. Have mistakes been made? - yes they have but we are definitely going in the right direction. This is as stable as the club has been at any time in the last five years”
There were plenty of other things discussed but I felt it was quite important to point out that there is so much that happens, is said and is done that we don’t get to hear about. Even when it looks like there is nothing happening there is usually a shit load going on. Last season was crap - we all know that. But if we can get behind whoever the new manager turns out to be and support this team we might see it pay dividends. A toxic atmosphere helps no-one but the opposition
im excited for pre season, and excited to see us playing some entertaining football for the first time in a while but what I REALLY want to have is a more unified fan base getting behind the team and a team that understands the journey we want to go on.
Fingers crossed
as I’ve said many times, it’s never been easy being a Charlton fan but I’ll never stop being one
I agree with most of your post but TS did dismiss Ben Garner. He was asked if the reports were true and he said no. So he has lost credibility here in my eyes
He said the deal wasn't completed. I can't criticise TS because people can't read & comprehend, what they are reading.

He didn't.
He said they were still interviewing. Then a couple of days later he said it was narrowed it down to 2 or 3.
More to the point he shouldn't be telling random fans on LinkedIn and Twiiter DMs anything at all should he? Other than when there is something I can tell you I will but until then I can't?

Exactly, it wasn't 100 % completed.
It's still not 100% complete is it?
He didn't say it wasn't complete, he denied there was any truth to it all. Didn't no comment it. He even said he had no idea where Cawley got the story from.
The best thing for him to do was say nothing. Wasn't it.

These could all be the Swindon equivalents of golfaddick, so I’ll take it with a pinch of salt, but sounds a bit like we ended up being under Karl Robinson.

But the reports weren't true, at least not 100%.
He didn't dismiss Garner.
The deal wasn't, and still isn't, done.
He wasn't, quite rightly and refreshingly, talking up something that hadn't, as yet, happened.
He wasn't lying, he was being discreet.
Hang about, I’ll attach the image below cause I feel like I am taking crazy pills now.
Cawley, our reliable journo says we have agreed comp for Garner, he will be manager
a fan of ours messages TS and asks ‘are the reports incorrect’
our owner replies ‘Yes’, outright denying the link.
We know Cawley is now telling the truth, so that leaves 2 possibilities, the poster on here photo shopped an image, or our owner has denied a manager, he knew was coming in, to I can only assume announce himself.
If it’s the third, which is where my money goes, as much as I like him, he has lost credibility. Cheers 🥂
edit: the plot thickens! I did not foresee his wife entering the fray
On my way back from The Killers, great night, have a quick look on here and it 's the same half a dozen posting incessantly. Do they really think we want to read their non stop posts all day & all evening? The answer is yes they do. (Maybe I'm also guilty of posting too much, but surely not non stop)?

Also went to the Killers tonight thought they were brilliant, now on the train home and obviously reading the same old bollocks as you.

On Free sports channel 65 is a mini football tournament with six a side. Fed up with the speculation on the next manager, raining cats and dogs, waiting for the Racing.
England are playing Israel later. Wave your flag and cheer on England.
No apologies from me for advertising football on a football forum.
Enjoy.
Is Tommer Hemed playing ?Probably score a hat trick .Another one of the miriad of talent we let go
That’s proper odd. No reason to get involved if it’s anything like close to being completed.
Only thing I can think of is that Garner is Plan B and they’re waiting on a decision from Plan A. They don’t want to upset Plan A by having it known they’re dealing with someone else. Even that isn’t particularly plausible
Love it! Wonder which bit isn't correct. Length of the deal? No agreement? Not Garner? One thing life at Charlton isn't - and that's dull. (Except for the football for years).
I just wish TS and his Missus would stop commenting on social media, it’s totally unnecessary and it will make them look like right plums when Garner is eventually announced.

are we playing him and keeping him there just in case as we have someone we rate more that we are also close to getting ….
