Quantum physics can explain the situation very simply. At any given moment Garner has both signed and not signed. The more he has signed the less he has signed and obviously vice versa. I don’t get all the confusion.

    Bravo @KiwiValley
Quantum mechanics is the meaning of life. The signing of Ben Garner can only happen when no one is watching. This is Heisenberg uncertainty principle meets Schrödinger's cat. Charlton's fate being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur.

So I've surfaced for my morning feed of the latest news only to find that a tweet has muddied the waters and Schrodinger's cat is stalking the shallows.  Only on CL 🤣
  • It’s a month since JJ was sacked and TS must have made up his mind on that decision some time before. So, let’s be generous and say the owner has known he needs a new manager for two months.
He must have had an idea of who he wanted to take over but that has obviously not come to reality.
So, now, he is “still interviewing”. How many has he interviewed? How many are there still to interview?
Get the feeling some interviewees are having second thoughts. If Mrs TS is right about Ben Garner, then are we going to end up with a fifth or. sixth choice as manager.
I will always appreciate TS saving our club but his handling of this situation is FUBAR.
  • It is unprofessional and opened them up to more criticism unfortunately. Can also see this coming back to bite them when every rumour is not denied like this.
Again,  it's lose/lose whatever they do for some.

They shouldn't comment but if in future they don't comment that will also be wrong.

They are making non-committal non-denials.  They mean very little as the tweets contain very little hard information but they are being poured over and far far too much being read into them by some.

I think this speaks to wanting control over the message. It's already been noted that fewer leaks are emerging than before and I'm guessing it's no coincidence.

That said, they'll be fully aware of the forensic analysis of every word they tweet  and, if it's true they read fans forums like this one (God help them!), they'll be aware of the consternation they cause, which, as a defender of theirs, even I find aggravating.

More professional to say nothing if not asked directly for comment.

On my way back from The Killers, great night, have a quick look on here and it 's the same half a dozen posting incessantly.
Do they really think we want to read their non stop posts all day & all evening?
The answer is yes they do.
(Maybe I'm also guilty of posting too much, but surely not non stop)?
Also went to the Killers tonight thought they were brilliant, now on the train home and obviously reading the same old bollocks as you.
Two of my nieces went to both nights.

Her post doesn't mean Garner isn't signing. Cawley says he's agreed a 2 year deal. She says that's not correct. Doesn't mean he isn't signing, it could mean that he's agreed a 3 year deal!
Whatever the reason is, it now just winds everybody up and no one knows what is going on.

Would have been for the best if Mrs Sandgaard had not said a thing and we would have found out early this week what’s being announced.

Can’t understand why she would do that.
But if she knows the information to be false, then why can't she say anything? She's certainly closer to the deal makers than Cawley is.
Then do it through the official club channels.
For me it’s mainly the ambiguity of the statement. A tweet saying ‘Understand this not to be correct’ sounds like something you would hear RonnieMoore write on here.
It was in response to Cawley saying:
    "Understand that to be correct"

Could be any one detail that is incorrect, term, salary, structure etc

I have a feeling neither TS or Mrs TS appreciate Cawley reaching out to leaks in the club rather than contacting direct.
It’s amateurish. If they have an issue with anything Rich puts out they can very easily contact him privately or they can publish a statement via the club setting the record straight if necessary.

This smacks of “we’ll decide what is said and when” and that’s a battle they will never win.

More important, if you’re “still interviewing” five weeks after your own decision to remove the manager I’d suggest you have a bigger problem.
It is amateurish but so are some journalists, Nixon springs to mind. If Cawley is wrong, and I say if, then I don't care how he is told. Why should a journalist who gets something wrong have to be told in private? He put it out there and if it factual incorrect then why should he escape criticism?

    Fasten your seatbelts everyone
That’s actually quite frustrating as I really was getting behind the idea of him as manager, what’s going on here
    Who is  Raelynn Maloney?

    TS"s other half
  • It’s all becoming a bit farcical now.  I understand things get leaked to people, but I would imagine that leaking stuff in a more traditional sense involved close confidants.  TS seems to have picked the odd random fan(s) he had no prior relationship with, and used channels such as LinkedIn.  I’m not knocking the fans he shares his info with.  If I were one of them, I would probably share on here what he’s told me, but the point is, we now seem to be getting different stories and if you’re running a professional football club, this just doesn’t look like you have much of an idea about what you’re doing.

Garner may or may not be following this, but what does it say about your prospective employer if you see one headline, then another and another.

I’m still pro TS for all the investment, the passion, the positivity and I actually think getting rid of Jackson wasn’t that a bad idea - however, it seems like from the outside, this is a bit of a circus now.  It could still all turn out to be alright, but I think this ongoing appointment is a window into what is a bit of shambles in general.

I would say we’d do extremely well at this point to enjoy a decent season on the pitch next season
  • Thomas: Hi, Ben. Did you get my email with the contract?
    Ben: Yes, all cool.
Thomas: What about the car parking space we have to sort out?
Ben: Oh, don’t worry about that. No hurry.
Thomas: That’s great. Shall we sort out that and the size for your tracksuit when we meet for a beer on Wednesday? We’d better get the contract signed as well then as they’re getting edgy on Charlton Life.
    Ben: Sure
Thomas: Do you mind Danish lager?
Ben: Ha ha. I suppose I can get used to it.
    Thomas: Cheers
  • All this will he, won't he be signing doesn't bode well for when he actually gets in charge. It makes it sound like TS is waiting if anyone better is available
  • Why are people getting in such a state over wording of a statement .. if you want to be spot on he has not signed yet until Tues or Wed when the official announcement is made but 2 year deal been agreed .. he was reported with his staff to have been at the training ground before he went in holiday last week .. we all know that TS does not arrive until tomorrow

    calm down ..

    What’s FUBAR?
I feel this thread has been passing me by recently, so thought I’d get more involved. Apologies if any or all of the above replies turn out to be wrong.

Reading this Garner felt he wasn't given enough time at Bristol Rovers.

I wonder if the fans will give him time if it starts badly or indeed if TS will.

  • What a farce, I thought we’d moved on from this public crap. Reading through she’s just repeating the same answer to every fan as if it’s a corporate response. She’s either gone AWOL or TS has agreed to this. Either way it’s a shambles.

Another post that's spot on.Just leave them alone. Whatever they do is wrong.Yes mistakes have been made but Thomas has the best intentions for the club.
As the saying goes - The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Good intentions with a modicum of learning & EQ would be much better!
  • It’s given everyone something else to talk about of course on the upside.

I do think it’s inconsequential in the grand scheme of things more. We are a 3rd division team and barely get a mention in the sports media reports these days. Amateur or unprofessional possibly but given we are a very small club currently  it’s entertaining however some news emerges.

Rich Cawley is a local journalist and doesn’t seem to me at least, to have huge advance insight in news at CAFC, only what he is given modestly in advance. I may have this wrong but don’t detect a huge network of inside information more than picking up what others have also heard.
