    Lets go round again
    One more time....
  • It all sounds like an episode of Soap.

    Just without the aliens.......

There is no way that Cawley, a Swindon journo, Talksport and even the athletic all report the garner news and it be false
Doesn't have to be false. Seems like he hasn't been signed yet. Perhaps still negotiating re his back up team? Who knows?
  • I just wish TS and his Missus would stop commenting on social media, it’s totally unnecessary and it will make them look like right plums when Garner is eventually announced.
I don't see the problem. They are just telling us what is or isn't happening amidst  all the rumours. I find the openness a refreshing change. Though the wind-up merchants don't like it, I suppose.
  • This is farcical, what the f##k is happening

    Yawn.
  • Raelynn is adamant that no manager has been signed.

  • Weird how such boring football can lead to the most goals, shots, possession etc in the league.
Something I’ve learned is that a lot of fans don’t want effective football, they want blood & guts, get stuck in, ‘ave it football. They want drama and everything to be done at 100mph.
This IMO, is the modern football -Based on sound defense with a good G P (think England WC win 1966) where he only has to deal with fairly easy shots from outside the box.Defending high so opposition attack, has to take the off side trap into consideration. The get stuck in part is the 'high press' when you lose, or havn't got the ball, Fitness is paramount. I dunno what formation this is, I only watch. I dont find the beautiful game boreing.in any of its forms Its always been skillfull scientific and technical to watch IMO. If not -watch cricket

Charlton and England.  Starting to wonder whose doorstep i shat on in a previous life to end up with these 2……
Weren’t we runners up in the last World Cup? Punching above our weight really.
Euros.  We got crunched by the giants of Croatia in the last WC and lost twice to Belgium if I remember correctly.  Agree though, punching above our weight and/or flattering to deceive since 66.
Both Belgium games were dead rubbers.
We are doing well when games to decide group winners and 3rd or 4th place in a WC are dead rubbers!

Safe to say THomas couldn’t confirm it last week because it wasn’t confirmed - so he’s not a liar he’s just dealing with what was accurate at the time.

time will tell soon enough if it’s the right appointment but hopefully a new coaching setup as well as those already there - will give us more of a sense of identity.  I look forward to it if it’s true.

A couple of weeks ago I had a long chat with one of the senior employees at Charlton.  He said the following

”Thomas doesn’t get involved in the day to day squad stuff, and doesn’t choose the transfers and leaves that to others more qualified. He just signs the cheques
Are things perfect? - No they aren’t.  Have mistakes been made? - yes they have but we are definitely going in the right direction.  This is as stable as the club has been at any time in the last five years”

There were plenty of other things discussed but I felt it was quite important to point out that there is so much that happens, is said and is done that we don’t get to hear about.  Even when it looks like there is nothing happening there is usually a shit load going on.  Last season was crap - we all know that.  But if we can get behind whoever the new manager turns out to be and support this team we might see it pay dividends.  A toxic atmosphere helps no-one but the opposition

im excited for pre season, and excited to see us playing some entertaining football for the first time in a while but what I REALLY want to have is a more unified fan base getting behind the team and a team that understands the journey we want to go on.

    Fingers crossed

as I’ve said many times, it’s never been easy being a Charlton fan but I’ll never stop being one

I agree with most of your post but TS did dismiss Ben Garner. He was asked if the reports were true and he said no. So he has lost credibility here in my eyes
He said the deal wasn't completed.
I can't criticise TS because people can't read & comprehend, what they are reading.
    He didn't.

He said they were still interviewing.  Then a couple of days later he said it was narrowed it down to 2 or 3.

More to the point he shouldn't be telling random fans on LinkedIn and Twiiter DMs anything at all should he?  Other than when there is something I can tell you I will but until then I can't?
    Exactly, it wasn't 100 % completed.
It's still not 100% complete is it?

He didn't say it wasn't complete, he denied there was any truth to it all.  Didn't no comment it.  He even said he had no idea where Cawley got the story from.

The best thing for him to do was say nothing. Wasn't it.
    Get a life.
Pathetic that mate. Snide comments and when it appears you’re wrong dropping the old ‘get a life’

Football fans are strange. On many occasions over the years i've seen people say that Pep's style of play is boring. A style of play that made Barcelona one of the best club sides in history, was the foundation of Spain winning 3 consecutive major tournaments and now Man City dominating domestic football.

  • Maybe Raelynn is just on a wind up. She must read this thread and think “hey big boy, watch what happens when I chuck a grenade in!”
  • Perhaps Garner's team come as a job lot and they're still ironing out the details for the number 2, 3 and DoF.

Sandgaard would definitely haggle for a Bogof deal if that is the case.

Her post doesn't mean Garner isn't signing. Cawley says he's agreed a 2 year deal. She says that's not correct. Doesn't mean he isn't signing, it could mean that he's agreed a 3 year deal!
Whatever the reason is, it now just winds everybody up and no one knows what is going on.

Would have been for the best if Mrs Sandgaard had not said a thing and we would have found out early this week what’s being announced.

Can’t understand why she would do that.
But if she knows the information to be false, then why can't she say anything? She's certainly closer to the deal makers than Cawley is.

Then do it through the official club channels.

But the reports weren't true, at least not 100%.

    He didn't dismiss Garner.

The deal wasn't, and still isn't,  done.

He wasn't, quite rightly and refreshingly, talking up something that hadn't, as yet, happened.

He wasn't lying, he was being discreet.

Hang about, I’ll attach the image below cause I feel like I am taking crazy pills now.

Cawley, our reliable journo says we have agreed comp for Garner, he will be manager

a fan of ours messages TS and asks ‘are the reports incorrect’

our owner replies ‘Yes’, outright denying the link.

We know Cawley is now telling the truth, so that leaves 2 possibilities, the poster on here photo shopped an image, or our owner has denied a manager, he knew was coming in, to I can only assume announce himself.

If it’s the third, which is where my money goes, as much as I like him, he has lost credibility. Cheers 🥂

edit: the plot thickens! I did not foresee his wife entering the fray
Fwiw he doesn't say that the there was no link, simply that the reports of it being done 2 weeks ago were wrong and we were still interviewing.

Could it be that after two weeks of further interviews, it is now done or at least nearing completion.
