Well Cawley is sticking to his story.

Just need Thomas to deny it to complete the loop.
It really doesn't matter that much away from the Internet world.
No.  It doesn't matter at all in the grand scheme of things.  He shouldn't be saying anything, to anyone about it.  I he thought Swindon would just sit on it, for 10 days, he is naive a best.

Almost all of the criticism Thomas gets, fair or other wise, comes from what he says.
And the rest from what he does, doesn’t do, was rumoured to have done and rumoured to have not done.
  • More than happy with Garner. Said it from the moment he was announced by Cawley.

Cawley saying “done deal” is a journalist breaking a story based on a certain degree of finality to proceedings

Thomas saying “ it’s not done yet”  is a businessman who knows it’s not done until the ink is dry.

Turns out both can be valid
The time difference between the initial Cawley announcement and (presumably) the actual unveiling this week was a long time though, far longer than you'd expect if 95% of the work had been done

Agreed but Thomas said to his "Charlton friends" on line that we were still interviewing after the story broke Swindon's end which Richard Cawley heard about from his west country journalist colleges so not surprising that there has been speculation.

Thomas Sandgaard should have said no comment while the process is ongoing but he likes to exchange comments with buttleJR and others who like to pass on what they hear.

No  harm done and we await the news in a few days about Ben Garner from Thomas, and Scarfy is getting ready.

As it seems we are now only waiting for confirmation to appear on the official site, perhaps it's time to reflect that this thread may soon be confined to the anal's.

It's been an emotional rollercoaster fellow Lifer's, with several protracted heated debates and deviations off thread.

After 225 pages and counting, I felt it only right to say a few words. I'm sure I speak for all in saying that I shall mourn it's passing as it will leave a big hole. 🤧
    Confined to the anal’s 😂😂
  • I’m more than happy with Ben Garner. Since he was first mentioned everything I’ve seen and read has been a positive. Just hope everyone gets behind him and gives him a fighting chance. Good news he is bringing in his two coaches, one big mistake with Adkins was not letting him bring Crosby in.

Keeping an open mind on Garner. Just pleased we've got a manager and it hasn't dragged out any further.

Charlton and England.  Starting to wonder whose doorstep i shat on in a previous life to end up with these 2……
Weren’t we runners up in the last World Cup? Punching above our weight really.
Euros.  We got crunched by the giants of Croatia in the last WC and lost twice to Belgium if I remember correctly.  Agree though, punching above our weight and/or flattering to deceive since 66.
Oh yes. Decent in the Euros at least.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Chorley ended up at Wimbledon with Jacko. Read earlier they were looking for a head of football operations, basically a DoF. Putting two and two together.
Potentially, and Blackburn are another option. Alan Nixon (I know...) said Blackburn are announcing their new DoF next week.

Chorley was at Wimbledon when they moved, and he went, not sure how well that will go down.

Who was the last manager we had with a UEFA Pro License ? Garner has one but I think both Adkins and Bowyer had A and B respectively. Robinson ?

Edit : Robinson has and JJ 🤦🏻‍♂️

Alan Pardew, Iain Dowie, Phil Parkinson, Jose Riga all before they became managers of Charlton Athletic

Karel Fraeye has even got one!
  • The one thing that slightly concerns me, when we're having to poach not just a manager, but also his 2 coaches, is that they've only been together for 1 year, indeed 10 months.

It's not a team which have worked together for years, with several seasons of success, maybe with more than one club.
  • So, how long we giving this bloke before the knives get sharpened?

My guess is the first pre-season friendly.

An hour before the first friendly when his first starting 11 and formation is announced.
    3-5-2, CBT at wing-back.

I think a lot will hinge on what happens next. If the perception is that we’ve done well in the transfer market then there could be a bit of a feelgood atmosphere going into the season. If the transfer activity is shit then TS will get the blame. If we’ve bought well and get off to a bad start then the manager will get flack.

    Garth Crooks leading the line.

    That long !
  • I’m sure that guy has read the ‘UEFA coaching manual’ cover to cover.
