You're probably right mate, and possibly a little bit obsessed. 👍The Red Robin said:

Shall we just bring back Nigel then? He's had three promotions from L1.BigDiddy said:Totally unimpressed - a fourth tier, unproven coach who has won nothing. Is this REALLY the best we can do?
Our club is going backwards and I am disgusted we could not appoint a proven winner at this level
You are good on research, I thought it was two with Southampton and Scunthorpe.
If it was 3 Promotions from League 1, was it Reading or Hull ? I thought they were Championship when Nigel was there but I haven't checked so please inform ?
You get a like for the first with the answer.
Did check to see the timeframe and Scunthorpe won the title in 2007 which was a great achievement and after coming back down went up via the playoffs in 2009.

Thank goodness for Walking up that Hill is all I can say. Maybe our new manager can play it to the players before every game:moutuakilla said:Hey, general discussions thread:

True. But also suggested Cawley was wrong for saying signed. Multiple tweets there.Clarky said:
No, but the key from the Conor tweets might be "TS arrives tomorrow to sort compo for his staff". If that is not agreed then the whole thing might fall through and nothing will be signed. The Red Robin said:

Yep, the whole thing has been very weird but that is one of the problems with social media, each of us interprets in a way that suits our own agenda without having the full facts. The Red Robin said:

A brief pause ensues while people formulate how to criticise this statement.WSS said:31 -
Or...they really want Garner, have spent weeks smoozing him, but he’s not quite over the line yet. Then someone leaks that he’s signed and it’s a done deal and they’re worried it looks like it’s come from inside the club. Rather than spook Garner away they throw enough water on the fire for it to die down so the talks can continue smoothly.ShootersHillGuru said:
Just suppose an earlier target from the A list that for whatever reason didn’t happen suddenly came back into view as a possibility ? What would you do as the owner, follow that avenue to see where it leads or let it drop. Nothing it would appear has ink on it so until it has either party can walk away. This is without doubt the most important appointment in Charltons recent history. Sandgaard has to get this right or at least be a thorough as is possible. Far too many people are being critical and those self same people will find fault whatever the outcome.Airman Brown said:
It’s amateurish. If they have an issue with anything Rich puts out they can very easily contact him privately or they can publish a statement via the club setting the record straight if necessary.Dazzler21 said:
It was in response to Cawley saying:FishCostaFortune said:
For me it’s mainly the ambiguity of the statement. A tweet saying ‘Understand this not to be correct’ sounds like something you would hear RonnieMoore write on here.shirty5 said:
Then do it through the official club channels.Chris_from_Sidcup said:
But if she knows the information to be false, then why can't she say anything? She's certainly closer to the deal makers than Cawley is.shirty5 said:
Whatever the reason is, it now just winds everybody up and no one knows what is going on.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Her post doesn't mean Garner isn't signing. Cawley says he's agreed a 2 year deal. She says that's not correct. Doesn't mean he isn't signing, it could mean that he's agreed a 3 year deal!
Would have been for the best if Mrs Sandgaard had not said a thing and we would have found out early this week what’s being announced. Can’t understand why she would do that.
"Understand that to be correct"
Could be any one detail that is incorrect, term, salary, structure etc
I have a feeling neither TS or Mrs TS appreciate Cawley reaching out to leaks in the club rather than contacting direct.
This smacks of “we’ll decide what is said and when” and that’s a battle they will never win.
More important, if you’re “still interviewing” five weeks after your own decision to remove the manager I’d suggest you have a bigger problem.0 -

I read and thought, don’t a lot of the leaks emanate from these individuals TS chooses to share things via LinkedIn from though?balham red said:

Going to look like right dickheads when we announce Garner midweek16

The icing on the cake here would be Swindon releasing a statement on their site confirming that they have agreed compensation with us for BG.
Almost praying for it.13 -
It’s such an avoidable shitshow.16

What leaks have come from LinkedIn? All he said on there was we were still interviewing?cabbles said:

The key line is "Because of the nature of negotiations, the club are limited with how much detail can be communicated"CharltontillidieCOYR said:Ok very confused now if it was close surely garner is thinking what the fuck ….
It's a protracted negotiation period, Garner is clearly aware that's ongoing.
The issue is that negotiations don't normally take this long. Looks like a game of chicken between TS and the Swindon chairman on the compo, with both clubs needing to get their pre season arrangements going. However, it also appears both clubs are already planning for the switch - Garner has discussed recruitment with Gallen already, and Swindon are actively looking for a new manager.
While pre season hasn't actually begun yet, neither club needs to blink. And I suspect both TS and his wife are putting out denials to make it appear we have other options and won't be held over a barrel.
Either TS is getting tighter with his funds after Zynex stock falling, or he hasn't seen the harm in protracting it out a little longer. Either way, it does appear that next week will be the end game on this saga.3 -
Yes WIOTOS but that is an unnecessarily aggressive statement.
So many people who read "incorrect" as "completely untrue".Should have said nothing or at least no mentioned the press reports which are probably substantially correct (Garner is coming) but not 100% or at least not yet.(Garner and assistants are not yet a done deal).10 -

The sticking point appears to be whether Garner is coming alone or with his coaching staff.1 -
What a mess football is in at this moment.
As for Charlton only Sandgaard knows what he is doing to the club.8 -
Yes could be the compo for his coaching staff/or Garner himself, but clearly this is the hold up.The Red Robin said:balham red said:

Cawley obviously got his info from the Swindon side, and they've likely briefed him with a version that intensifies the pressure on TS, as it has.2
