Next manager - Ben Garner confirmed (p256)

All they had to do was say nothing until it was done, yet they've somehow messed that up.

Don't forget that Swindon club and fans are in the same concern as us. Until we announce their manager is ours, they cannot bring in a new manager officially. I can imagine Swindon fans calling TS as many bad names as our fans1
-
All comes across as very American, media hating/fake news/ Trump driven drivel to me.
TS and RM should just stay silent until they have something meaningful to say.5 -

It’s got to be resolved soon for Swindon’s season as well as ours.1 -
Henry Irving said:Yes WIOTOS but that is an unnecessarily aggressive statement.
So many people who read "incorrect" as "completely untrue".Should have said nothing or at least no mentioned the press reports which are probably substantially correct (Garner is coming) but not 100% or at least not yet.(Garner and assistants are not yet a done deal).
If we appoint him now how is he going to feel? And how much more stupid are our leadership team going to look.
It's almost as if we as a fanbase collectively legged over the club legend and are being made to pay for it...

If it is Garner, feel like this is not a good start to his managership. If I was him I'd release my own statement saying "I've got several offera on the table and I'm taking my time to decide" before politely telling us to do one.3
-
Silly statement but equally we don’t know any of the private comms that have gone on between the clubs and individuals involved.
I can’t work out why the necessity for this lunacy may exist but you never know.
Garner and TS may be WhatsApping as we speak chuckling about how out of hand it’s got.0 -
balham red said:cabbles said:balham red said:WSS said:Ie, they can’t have it both waysOn a more general point, what I am
saying is that TS does choose to share information with what are to him, complete randoms, regardless of how much he’s shared with them before. Can you imagine a lower level Zynex employee emailing him and asking what the plan is re: marketing or acquisitions and him choosing to share bits and pieces? Moreover, now we have statement saying we’ve yet to appoint Garner, despite a very trustworthy and respectable local journalist saying we are, SkySports saying we are and that being generally accepted that it’s almost over the line.I don’t really care personally, but you cannot say it doesn’t look messy or amateurish. Particularly if we do end up with Garner. It seems that there’s been no control over what has been put out there during this whole process which I think is
a) because, for whatever reason TS chooses to engage with the odd fan
b) I don’t think Garner was the first choice and the process has perhaps gone on longer than it should
c) it’s now some sort of wounded pride over the leaks and they must regain control of the narrative - to this I say pointless. It’s paper talk. It will always happen
Also, just what will Garner think. He may not care, but he’s still technically employed by Swindon. Details matter. He’s got a glimpse into how hap hazard things are in the first few weeks of his time in dealing with TS.
And, not that Cawley probably cares, but he’s probably the most reliable source for us not in the know, and it doesn’t look good being called out by the owner’s wife on Twitter. She didn’t do it in a spat kind of way, but Cawley is an honest journo, no agenda, even says there are things he can’t put out unless there is substance, so does hold back if he is unsure. We’ve just seen a lot of silliness play out that was unnecessary. Now imagine what is going on a bigger level
Btw I’m generally pro TS. I’m not moaning for the sake of it, but I think the whole thing shows a level of incompetence7 -

Airman was on here earlier saying Sandgaard's mrs shouldn't be saying stuff on twitter, and the club should do it through official channels. Now they've done that people are saying they should've said nothing at all.
That said i do agree it's all a bit of a mess, and i'm still convinced it'll be announced officially once TS arrives in London.1 - Sponsored links:

TS it seems wants to make sure the whole deal for Garner and any assistants is done and dusted before he makes an announcement as he obviously feels things can fall apart at the last minute. I think we all need to be a little bit careful about slagging him and his missus off too much as he may wake up one day and think just why am I throwing 8 million a year of my limited savings at this club without any workable plan to get it back.

I get the feeling Garner is only agreeing to come if his whole team are included in the package. That way compensation and contract negotiations would take slightly longer, surely.
I doubt Garner would back out at this stage, and stay at Swindon, the only fly in the ointment, could be a rival club make a last ditch offer, as when a player gets tarted around by their agent and goes somewhere else at 11th hour. If that were to happen Chernobyl would look like a children's birthday cake compared to CL forum Next Manager thread.4 -
After their statement. If it’s still Ben Garner I have fully 180’d on our ownership.
Not because of the management choice, but clearly Thomas is treating the club like a toy. So far the investment has been great with mistakes among the way (that’s fine), but this just seems childish.0 -
Mind you it is only bread, not nice bread.

I know many are holding on for someone amazing but since RC’s leak I’ve only thought that Ben Garner seems like a smart choice, together with whoever he brings in. Someone used to buying without a huge budget, used to getting his sides to win. We’re not a top tier club. I’d be really happy to have someone sensible in charge that just gets on with the job. That is not a reference to the owner by the way.1

So they are still deciding who to go with.
Seems to be taking a little while but respect that they want to get it right.
The external reports are irrelevant and don’t contribute to the club being a circus, let’s just wait and see, football fans have serious lack of patience and jump to meltdowns so quick.3 -
None of this nonsense would have happened if we had a decent CEO.12

5 weeks and still deciding is a disgrace. Clearly something is very very wrong.9

I dunno if it says more about me or the club at the moment that I had to go online and check if that was real.2 -
Funny that when TS needed the media to get involved right at the beginning he turned to Cawley to release the news that he was active in buying the club & needed a "push" to get it over the line.
Then when fans started tweeting him & contacting him via LinkedIn TS was more than happy to reply and to get news out there.

I wonder if JJ is having a quiet chuckle to himself as this soap opera drags on and on.He's 4 weeks into a new job and likely already knows which players he wants to sign and an overall plan of action for next season.Meanwhile the Colorado Clown and his trusty sidekick Blondie continue to make fools of themselves on an almost daily basis.Promotion next season? more chance of me buying a season ticket at the toolbox.11
