A common flaw in recruitment in any industry generally is reacting to the last appointment.
If the last appointment was a success then go for someone just like them.
If the last appointment was a failure go for the opposite of the last person.
So in football, where most hires are due to the last bloke being sacked, that means lurching from last guy was old, get a young guy in, last guy had no club connections, get a club legend in.
Then reverse and repeat.
The clever hire is to ignore age, background or anything not relevant to the job and hire the person best equipped to deliver whatever your aims are:
If that is high press, passing, winning football that involves promoting players from the youth team and be willing to let someone else have the final say on player recruitment then pick the guy who ticks all or at least most of those boxes regardless of his age, Charlton connections, current club or hair colour and hope the package you offer makes him want to join us.
Was informed that Beale will be a non starter as he was not happy that Thomas said he had contacted him in an interview when Adkins left. I can't recall this can anyone verify please? Hoping this is not the case and Beale is a possibility. Thomas has verified to me that he tried to contact Beale last time.
I think what can be gleaned from this thread is whoever is appointed is unlikely to be universally welcomed 😂
Unless we got Klopp or Pep I can't think of anyone one that would be?
Anyone we are realistically going to get will either have a failer on their CV, lack experience or be taking a big step up in terms of size of club and expectations.
Your wrong mate Klopp only drew yesterday and Pep messed up midweek they are obviously a busted flush
To be fair if Tommy promised them champions league in six years that could swing it. 😉

There is also the idea that young managers are more progressive, flexible and tactically aware. Generally play better football.
I have no idea where that comes from at all. The 2 least tactically flexible managers we have had in the last 20 years were both in their 30s.

The question should be "is this person able to be flexible in their formations?" not "how old are they?" because their age is irrelevant to what is needed while their flexibility is crucial.

Exactly I would even go the other way and say that a more experienced manager would be able to show a body of work that shows flexibility.
You wouldn't expect say Neil Warnock, to deploy the same formation and tactics today as he did at Bury.
Cannot believe there is people comparing warburton to adkins ! 😂 some people are absolutely clueless
Even worse, those comparing TS to RD. Get a grip.
This. 👆🏻
Someone who cut the heart out of the club, was never here, didn’t care if it went out of business and eventually gave it to crooks to dismantle compared to decent guy who rescued the club from the crooks, wants the best for the club, has got us buying players, trying to get us to Cat 1 academy status but who occasionally says things that people aren’t keen on, half of which is far more of a cultural mistake than anything more and made a duff but well intentioned managerial call in Nigel Adkins.
Michael Beale is a maybe, but realistically how much is he earning, 20 - 30 k a week? no idea, I can’t believe we can pay him at the moment anything near what he’s on at the moment already, can’t see it happening, even if he does talk a good game.
The fella at MK dons is a possibility if they miss out on promotion, but how much say does he have in things at the moment?
I think I can safely say Villa are not paying Beale £10m annually to be one of two assistant coaches. They don’t pay Gerard that much - reported a £4m + bonuses. I’m sure he’s on a good wage, but it won’t be anywhere near that high. It still might be more than we want to pay in L1 though.

20 - 30k a week is 1 - 1.5 million a year, not 10 million?

Being better than Duchatelet is not a high bar . I look forward to seeing where we are this time next year - hopefully some of us will be eating humble pie and we will all be celebrating promotion.

Michael is assistant coach at Villa ! Stevie G thinks the world of him and I'm sure he makes money with his coaching videos, podcasts etc but you are way out with 30k a week,
I thought Thomas Sandgaard was wrong to say the Comments about Beale as they might come back to bite him; they have because why would he consider this Job now after being spoken about as the yard stick to aim above ?
Thomas Sandgaard has the right to say and pick who he wants BUT he isn't making things easy for himself with the Beale comments from last year, the blow this league out the water and this won't be of interest to all on CL but the Ladies/women discussion.

All that could also be applied to Roland too, so not really useful in differentiating them.
Beale is regarded by people in football as one of the brightest coaching talents globally Somebody who I know who has also done his uefa b badges and knows him well says he’ll be going back to Liverpool with stevie g when klopp goes and is with gerrard for the long haul No way he’s coming to us

This could well be true but it doesn’t allow for Beale at some point wanting the gaffers job. It might be that he is perfectly happy doing what he’s doing but most good coaches want a crack at being number one at some point. He won’t get a Premier League managers job. Might get a Championship club willing to take him on but it’s probably league one where he cuts his managerial teeth.
Exactly, are any of them really worth it. Too much money sloshing around in the Premier League.
A rhetorical question..of course they are not worth it, but you ain't gonna stop it long as you have out's like Sky and BT Sport throwing money in the air for them all to catch, working man's game, my arse..

Klopp just signed a new contract. He ain’t going anywhere anytime soon.

I'd love Warburton, he's my first choice.

Welcome to CL Ronnie Dangerfield and good luck with the players contracts.
No way he’s coming to us
I don't want Ferguson, but I can't say I'm strongly opposed like Lennon & Hasselbaink.
