A ball playing goalie needs to do a bit better than that with their first touch!2

The interviewer said something like you lost the game but at this stage it doesn't matter and Ben Garner agreed.
I think he should have said it mattered, maybe not a huge amount, but any defeat matters.
If we had won it would be 'it's nice to get a win', not 'it doesn't matter that we won'.
If it is nice to get a win, then losing is a pain and it matters.
I would have like Garner to say something like 'that's all very well, but being sanguine about a defeat can only be tolerated the one time, it was a poor goal to concede and it'd better not happen again'.14 - Sponsored links:

Didn’t watch and won’t bother until the home game which I’ll go to. Really doesn’t mean too much just a chance for Garner to see players in an (almost) competitive game. I remember previous crap pre-seasons where we’ve gone on to do really well and pre-seasons where we’ve won or drawn most and had terrible seasons. Hopefully we’ve got 4 or 5 to join yet and just one player could change everything!2

Still think we need a goal poacher3

Gilbey, does something bad.
FUCKING SELL THE CNUT CAN'T PERFORM AGAINST KILMARNOCK RUINED OUR SEASON Aararrraggghhhghhhh fuck you.
Morgan - new coach, new style, clean slate, HIS SEASON HAS COME
Stockley - Garner will re-invent Stockley, ITS WHAT GOOD COACHES DO
Gilbey - Too old, too crap, FINISH HIM0 -
I think we can all agree, we need to add about 10% more intensity to training.3

As we haven't replaced Conor Washington yet that is a Shay Given.1 - Sponsored links:

So the general feeling is we haven't replaced Washington with a like for like. Last year the problem was we played Washington wide in a front 3.
Where is this Washington replacement going to play?3 -

Goal was a poor one to concede but it’s only pre season and it’s the minutes in legs that matter.
In terms of improving and making sure it doesn’t happen again…
- Lavelle shouldn’t be passing it to a full back who has already been closed down. You’re asking for a turn over when you do that. Better to turn and give it back to the keeper.
- Egbo needs to be careful with how much weight he’s putting on a pass back to the keeper (least to blame IMO, better to be slightly over hit than under hit)
- Wollacott needs to be better positioned to receive the pass back from Egbo. Pointing out his first touch is obvious but being more centrally positioned instead of getting sucked towards the ball would’ve given him more time to take the ball down and redistribute it the other way.

I’ve been to friendlies over the years, but as I’ve got older I’m less and less interested. The Sutton game interests me as I can technically tick off a new ground as apparently friendlies count as part of doing the 92. Other than that it’s good to have a break. Especially after such a poor season.Nothing wrong with enjoying the opposite approach to this6

Anyone know if we can recall AMB?1

As far as I can tell Leuth isn't flying the flag for Morgan, he just can't stand Gilbey.BTW for those of us who weren't watching, do we have a consensus on what position the players were playing in the first and second half?
First half:
RB: Clare
CB: Deji
CB: Bones
LB: Claydon
MC: Morgan
MC: JFC
RW: CBT
10: Aneke
LW: DJ
CF: Davisson
Second Half:
RB: Henry
CB: Lavelle
CB: Inniss
LB: Egbo
MC: Dobson
AMC: Gilbey
AMC: Fraser
RW: Leaburn
LW: Kirk
CF: StockleyChucks behind Stockley inspires thoughts of high pressing football .0 -

It looks like some posters are clearly ahead of others in terms of their match thread sharpness. Several promising comments and interactions, but clearly some other posters are still mentally on the beach - or perhaps even physically on the beach?
Nice to see some early pre-season use of big booming terms like "inexcusable" , "ineffective" and "embarrassing" and also some nice approach play for lining up this seasons scapegoat(s). Also a smattering of mild hand-wringing, stating-the-bleedin-obvious and "I told you so"-style comments all bodes well for the coming season.
Overall a pretty useful workout all round and some much needed minutes on keyboards under the belt, especially for those who really struggled to get going. I'm sure with the addition of some new posters and the return of a few more old stalwarts, the "quality" of the match threads will steadily improve as the season draws nearer. However, the big question remains over whether this will ultimately be enough for us to achieve a title-winning match thread standard. We live in hope.
Verdict: 4.5/10.7 -

Where is this Washington replacement going to play?
A forward who can play in a two or a Three up front. This player has to have the ability to assist and score goals and has some pace ! How much money do we have !
Corey Blackett-Taylor really needs to get the ball in an advanced position so only has one defender to skin. He could play in a 3 but mainly for his assists but he should chip in with a few.
I like the idea of the two footed Corey playing on the side of least resistance. Left or right as long as the new forward can do the same as well as support for the Central striker Chuks/Jayden.
As football is a 16 man game now there will be plenty of opportunity for this forward to shine. Would be great if he can support either Stockley/Aneke as neither should be isolated in a 3 this time around.0
