What will be interesting is Accrington will try to stop us playing and will they manage it? How easy or hard will it be for them? I will also be looking at the second ball as I think this has been a week area for us for a while.
If they are anything like we were last year when up against teams like MK Dons and Bolton then it will be simply impossible for them to stop us playing. In theory.
Make you right about second balls as well, it's something that has definitely been well below other teams in this league at both ends of the pitch.
Personally I'll be looking out for how many simple balls get played straight through our midfield into the channels between full back and CB as was consistently the case last year.
Starting without Dobson is lunacy Sessegnon's gonna need someone dedicated to protecting him on his wrong side, which rules out Kirk Morgan's regular selection in pre-season suggests Garner is allowing him a fresh start So (if all are fit)
Nice press conference. Garner come across to me like a calm calculating character that knows his stuff. Says all the right things and I doubt the players will assume the are guaranteed a game whoever they are. I really hope we put in a good performance tomorrow regardless of result. We all know Accrington is a tough 1st game to try and play football and I would hate for the knives to come out after the 1st game
The knives are already out. They will go back in if he can prove that tippy tappy works with only Stockley as striker. Good luck mate.
Tried my best to switch off from Charlton over the summer to have a reset from last years shower of shite but now feeling fully back in gear. Come on you Addicks! 2-0, Stockley brace.
To get a result tomorrow I think we will need to score atleast 2 goals as i cant see us not letting a silly goal in from playing it out from the back, the players will need a bit of time to get it right
If we let in poor goals my heart will sink as I think defensive soundness is going to be more important than ever for us this season.
Usually when it isn't serious you get a clearer communication from the club. Not saying it isn't but we will all still be a bit worried.
Wheather it's serious or not it's only a matter of time before he picks up another injury as he's made of glass.
Since the capitulation at Ipswich last game of the season we have lost. Washington Burstow Davison. We have had months to bring in another striker or two and as yet we have brought in no one. The season starts tomorrow and Stockley is the only fit senior striker at the club. Frightening when you think of it.
This post would be a lot more effective if you'd just listed Washington. The other two are no loss at all.
We were also playing 2 up top, now we're not.
We need another striker before the window shuts or Stockley gets crocked, but it's hardly frightening.
If Stockley gets injured tomorrow we have no senior striker available. Just a couple of kids untried at this level. To me that's not good enough.
I know what you’re saying, but I would rather wait three weeks for the right person than have Davison now.
Had a whole summer to get the squad in order.
Concerning we're heading into another one under resorced particularly when Washington was shown the door before window even opened.
Not commented much during the 'close' season and tried to not let the negative comments about everything CAFC get in my head......yes there are things we still need to fix and we certainly need another striker and a LB, however leaving all that to one-side, Im really looking forward to the new season with a reasonable level of optimism....tomorrow will be a hard start, I, obviously, would like to see us win, but I'd take a point to be honest. Im gonna stick my neck out and go 1-2 addicks.
For all off our 'new style' of play, you need to be able to go to the likes of Stanley and soak up their tactics, not sure we'll have the characters starting to do so (or in the squad in general), I fear we could get a bit of a physical beating today, hopeful of nicking a win but think a 1-1 draw is most likely.
Either way, a new season and renewed hope, come on the reds!

It's like a different country.
Will all fans/critics at least wait until the 4th game this season before chanting:
"Your not fit to wear the shirt"
"You don't know what your doing"
I felt we needed two more friendly games against League sides including a team who played more direct to see how we dealt with it.
Polar opposite ways of playing styles are Swansea and Accrington Stanley.
