I get the impression from some people's comments on here that they're almost happy we conceded in the last seconds as it gives them the ammo to bitch about everything. It's the first game of the season FFS. New manager, players, system. Just give it a few more games before writing off the season at least.
And I think we should all acknowledge that Clare is a defender who can play in midfield and not the other way round now. And he is a bloody good one too.
Daft hair style thought. I wandered who he was at warm up.
Genuinely didn’t think the goal which Leaburn scored we would have scored last season. Felt like there was calmness about us, and were not rushing even in the 94th min. The first time ball by Payne was class, just the put the ball into a dangerous area for someone to attack.
I know people gave good acknowledgement to our keeper yesterday and he made a couple of great saves, but he gave us a few hairy moments by completely missing crosses.
He will certainly be giving us some hair raising stuff and dis agreement this season.

A positive start with a newer team and play style that need to get used to each other. the result was fair and 1 point deserved. it’s early days with our new manager we still need a serious striker as stockley is inconsistent and misses the target to often.
So very proud of our son @MilesLeaburn scoring on his debut for @CAFCofficial. A lot of screaming with happiness and pride in our house right now #cafc Great photos
What a feeling to score on my first professional appearance!!! Gutted we didn’t get to take 3 pts. Thank you to the travelling fans for your support #cafc @CAFCofficial
if the game had ended 1-1 everyone would have said it’s a good point … late goals happen it don’t change the performance of the last 95 mins .
1-1 or 2-2 makes no difference to me but we should never settle for a point at somewhere like Accrington. Their style of play may not suit us but at the end of the day they are a bang average league one side. If we draw against Derby next Saturday some on here will probably still be saying it's not a bad result. In reality if we fail to beat Derby next Saturday we will either be 4 or 5 points off the top teams after just 2 games. If we are serious about promotion we need to be winning matches and not saying things like a draw is a good result because it isn't.
No team will like going to Accrington or many other places in this league,it is tough, they swarm all over you and generally try to stop you playing by whatever means. There will be many games like this,It is an awkward game out of the way,and we got a point, not perfect but would have took it at the start. We will get better, maybe yesterday we could have used the subs a bit earlier as our midfield began to tire.Beat Derby and that is a decent start.

i dont think people are happy i just dont want to see my team ebb away in league 1 - i dont think its unreasonable to want a top 6 finish, ts has over estimated what needs doing. and it already smacks of last season where adkins was given match after match after match, lets see how we are come end of august.

There are certainly some who are defining our whole season on the first 96 mins of football!
A lot of underdressed South Londoners in the Northern drizzle and isn't yesterday what following a team is all about. I think we are miles ahead of where we were last year although there are going to be some darkly comical moments of defending in our own third but as I shouted out to those yelling at them to hoof the ball you better get used to it. There's plenty to build on and improve as the long season goes on the defense will have to get used to Jojo not doing crosses but at least we have a plan and at times played some good stuff which is more than could be said for last year. Miles goal was one of those iconic moments the fact that as we were all recovering they scored made it even more Charlton.

Seen a few similar comments along these lines. Against the top 6 last year Accrington at home had 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses.
I find it slightly disrespectful, and indicative of how people underestimate this league, when they for some reason feel we should easily be turning competitive and well managed sides like Accrington aside away from home.
One little tale from yesterday worth telling was the fellah gloating about having the foresight to buy a pack a mack when the heavens opened onto a terrace full of Fred Perry's and Suede Adidas, only to find on opening he had bought the waterproof trousers!
Gutted to concede so late but I have seen enough to now know that we will be alot better than the last couple of seasons already. Yes it will take a few games to bed in but oh how good is it to actually watch us trying to play football
Finally got home at 2 but still wouldn't have missed the day!
Arrived home at 01.35, one of the worst train journeys in my life. TFL part of the journey fantastic, Victoria line to Green Park, Jubilee line to North Greenwich & 422 bus to Wickham Lane took about an hour.

The idea that any Charlton supporter is happy that after Miles Leaburn scores a 94 minute potential match winning goal debut goal & are happy that Accrington equalise a minute later - so that they can score a few points on Charlton Life is a very misguided interpretation. No Charlton supporter would be happy about that.
