No point moaning about it, people will only slag you off. If they were on a sinking ship, only warn them the once as they will find it boring any more times.
Seen a couple of posts ‘suggesting’ Stockley was ill. I thought that was the case actually, as he appeared so listless from the start. Anyone got the exact info on this?
Garner said it, in the post- match interview on Charlton TV. He used the phrase “under the weather”. I take that to mean a cold. They never say ‘ a cold’ in pro football circles, for reasons I discussed a page earlier. A couple of posters gave it an LOL without commenting further. I presume those two never played football even at Sunday League level and never swerved a visit to the Valley when they had colds.
It also seems a number of posters are suffering from mild attention deficit disorder. For their benefit I remind everyone that Jayden Stockley last season reached 20 goals in all comps despite being injured for several weeks as well as suspended for 3 games after being stitched up by the pub team at Accrington. You’re welcome.
Can’t see why we are looking to get rid of foster caskey. If we had him on the bench to bring on instead of mccrapy. He has done nothing for me if his not fully fit why put him on bench. he has just plodded about and gave the ball away both appearances.looks totally uninterested. Don’t think his even put a tackle in.
I’d keep caskey and get rid of him. Even gilbey would be better than what he has shown so far.
I think that is unfair on McGrandles but given the temperature and his lack of games, it was a poor decision from Garner IMO. I would have preferred Gilbey as I think he is the best equipped for those conditions but either would have been preferable and that isn't to say that McGrandles won't turn out to be a great signing.
a decent performance except for goal scoring, we were better than them for long periods, though they finished the stronger.. the need for a consistent goal scorer has been obvious for a very long time .. we lost to a good goal, great cross and fine header from Bakinson who likes playing against us, he scored the first for Ipswich last game of last season, this was a lesson in chance taking in very tight games We were good in midfield, dangerous down the wings generally OK at the back, BUT unless we start scoring more goals, this could be another season of wasted opportunity
Just shows that the players coming on didnt make any impact (unlike the Plymouth side we are playing next). Also shows that CBT was our best player and Stockleys name not mentioned.
I praised things Stockley did yesterday more than any player. There was a chance when he went off for Leaburn to head it on for DJ who would have been free. Stockley would have made that. The fact is, from the moment him and CBT went off, and I am not saying they shouldn't have gone off as one was ill and one was finished, Wednesday pushed forwards more as they felt less threat.
Yeah, Stockley wasn't great from what I saw, but Leaburn basically achieved nothing at all, which is fine, he was up against good defenders as a lone striker and he's very young, he'll have games like that

That's partly right, but their midfield substitutes were also better and earlier than ours.
I think TS's learning curve is flattening out but there is still some previous errors sitting in that squad. If a side is serious about promotion then Chuks has to be forgotten. I understand it was a gamble to up the ante in the squad under Jacko but a three year contract for a fella whose appearances won't cover six months is holding this squad back. McGillivary should be allowed to go too, I was never a fan but he is too good a keeper to play second fiddle and his wage would allow us options to complete this squad. Add to that JFC and Gilbey and this squad looks more settled and streamlined. I understand that getting these players out of the club is easier said than done but loans and possibly sales are possible for apart from Chuks, who's only option is donating his body to medical science.
So what if Wollacott gets injured? McGillivary is under contract and if he is too good a keeper to be a reserve, great if we want to make a push for promotion.
We'd be better off with a loan, also will McGillivary want to be bench warming week after week ?
Didn't see the game but the performance sounds promising and the striker situation exactly as most of us have been banging on about - as i've said before, the solution is we sell stockley and bring in a replacement that fits the system better. Ideally we'd keep him as i think he's a decent target man but i just can't see TS funding a striker of the required quality without selling one and i can't see stockley being happy playing second fiddle - the above may seem unlikely now, particularly as stockley is captain but we should have done it - maybe we will be pleasantly surprised and TS and the club have a striker lined up and we keep stockley - its massively important to get this sorted one way or another

Equally would he want to take considerable pay cut?
I can't see him being a number 1 anywhere that would pay what we do. If we loan him out to play we would have to contribute to his wages and the wages of who ever replaces him.
The same is true for Gilbey.
Would MacGillivray actually want to move for less than 2 years with a 6 month old baby?
I wasn’t at the game but just watched the 10 minute highlights on Charlton TV. Interesting to contrast what those who went said about how well we played and the highlight package, which concentrates only on what happens in the final third, that looked like Wednesday were all over us.

It doesn't matter what McGillivray wants really. He is under contract. We basically have one season where if our first choice is injured, we have a decent second choice. Not sure why fans don't want that.
What I don't understand re the striker situation is, that when a group of us collared Martin Sangaard in the Keith Peacock suite in March, he told us they had money to go out and buy players but wouldn't bank roll the club in doing it. Fair enough but there has been little evidence of that money being spent so far.
If we want to be serious challengers and this league will only get harder to get out of, we need to go out and get that striker, yes all clubs are looking to do the same, but as Golfie says Pompey found one.

13 league goals. The other 7 goals were against non league sides in the FA Cup, or U23 sides in the Pizza Cup, so against weak opponents

I wondered whether Wycombe might be a possible destination for McGillivary. They haven’t properly replaced Stockdale.

I watched the "highlights" on TV last night and they showed nothing from us. So I watched the highlights on Sky looking forward to seeing this multitude of chances we were supposed to have had and they just weren't there. Best chance we "created" came from their keepers fuck up.
Have I missed something? Are our chances deliberately not being shown, or weren't there any?

Leaburn is a great prospect. But he is no where near ready to start games on a consistent basis or even come on as sub in games like yesterday where he was up against good, strong defenders .

there is unfair to compare Stockley last season's efforts and this season. Last season when effective he played with Washington in a 2 man attack, this season he is on his own and seems to spend more time in the middle of the pitch than up in the area. His help in defence is on par. with last season. It is not his fault that the manager does not play to his strengths.

Sadly for all of our possession, and my wife said we looked like we were on the training ground doing passing drills, we had very few clear cut chances. On balance Wednesday probably had more goal scoring chances, or so it felt, but had very little possession. I seem to remember a few seasons ago that we won many more games where we had less than 50% possession, quite a few with less than 40%.
Everyone knows that we don't have enough goals in this side. The bookies are offering the odds they are because they know nothing. A 'top' striker please Thomas or we will be a lot of smiles for the huff, puff and grunt, but not happy faces come May.

Stockley Ill Aneke never fit. Leaburn a work in progress.
And yet some on here reckon we don't need another striker.
Who on here thinks we don’t need another striker?
Unless I've missed it, no one has posted since this seriously suggesting that we don't need a new striker. I guess some may have changed their minds having posted before, but it's nice that we're all agreed now that we do isn't it? Just need it to happen, and soon.

Without trawling back over thousands of posts I've seen plenty saying as we only play one up front then we already have enough.

Bit harsh on Leaburn, for some reason when he came on the team decided to start playing long ball basically not giving him a chance to do anything. I'll put it down to how tired many of them were but it definitely wasn't Leaburn's fault he had no service.

I said 20 league goals something he has never achieved in his career at this level. Stockley will not score 20 this year.
CBT was cramped and well stifled on the right hand side yesterday, he has looked mustard on the left. So ‘his’ place was given to Kirk! And Kirk contributed what exactly? He was a passenger, and Fraser not much better. I would like to think at least one out of Kirk, Gilbey and Fraser could become vital to the team, but if they were replaced in the starting line up, even the match day squad, I would not be at all upset. Don't know about JRS, but to my mind Henry, Payne, DJ, Clayden, and JFC would be ahead of those three in the queue. In what way could anybody describe Kirk, Fraser or Gilbey as undroppable? Additionally surely McGrandles can’t really be the liability we have seen so far can he?
Fraser so far has been a bit of a disappointment for me. He seems to be off the pace and lacks the cutting edge I hoped we would see. Morgan on the other hand has amazed me so far as he has really stepped up and put in performances I thought we would only see flashes of occasionally. Dobson has proved his value and must start imo. For me Dobson and Morgan have cemented their starting place until their form drops. I think payne will come in for Fraser so that's our midfield. JRS for Kirk will also make a massive difference hopefully

There will not be another striker incoming.
