We’re going to struggle to hold on to Garner at this rate

In August 1988 Charlton played a pre-season friendly at Lincoln City.
Before the game we Junior Reds played the Junior Imps on the hallowed Sincil Bank turf.
Unfortunately there had been a miscommunication between the wonderful Jackie Monaghan and her Lincoln City colleague.
The locals thought it was an Under-14 fixture when, in fact, most of our lads, including future pro Anthony Potts, were 16 years old.
The game proceeded and we gave those stripey bastards a thorough 6-0 tonking.
I know it's not much but it's the only positive thing I can think of this morning when it comes to Lincoln vs Charlton.14 -
For what its worth we should have won that, we got away with a very light weighted midfield and actually looked half decent in small patches going forwards. That said Woolacot kept us in it with a proper save.
I cant lie, the second half sent me to sleep and as much as I love away games I'm so glad I wasn't there, it was shite.

Random thought - CBT is a talented player on his day, but he looks like he's completely given up. Can't see him playing too many more games for usHe fought hard to get a chance with us, but many more performances like that and he’s finished. I doubt he’s got a nice job on the trading floor lined up though, so he must be desperate to do well. It’s either nerves, or general lack of confidence I reckon. Do we have a sports psychologist? I doubt it.

The photo clearly shows it did not (other photo evidence may show different).
The whole of the ball has to over the line.3 -
The photo neither shows clearly that the ball did or didn't go over the line. It's a still not showing the actual movement of the ball.1

If Sandgaard is cutting everything he can, which seems evident, he is not going to pay off Garner, however low the amount it would cost will be.1

Remember Sandgaard didn't want to sack Adkins, but the results were so dire, and confidence was being drained from the side that he had little choice, even then it went on longer than it needed too. Jackson then changed the system, yes, the one that was forced on Adkins and Garner, and we climbed the table, until the home game against Wycombe when our forwards were then out of action for almost three months. If Garner was to be sacked it would be for one reason and that reason is because Garner has dared to play 442 in order to get wins and move the side away from the bottom of the table, problem with that now is we only have one forward in Stockley after letting Washington go. That decision was, by all accounts, made because the incoming manager might not want him, in interviews since Garner was asked if he regrets losing Washington, he answered no but I think that was because he was told he could get a replacement which never materialised.0 -

A clean sheet was good but anything else would have been a travesty given Lincoln were as toothless as we were upfront.
Chuks will be our saviour!1 -

Only my second game this season (Wednesday being the first) and we seem to be getting worse. It's the simple things that we can't seem to do, control the ball make a pass, it isn't that difficult. And the movement off the ball is terrible. It is so frustrating to watch. I would expect an under 11 team to do better than they did!
We had a good start to both halves but from there it all went wonky donkey. Egbo was the only positive for me and if we can keep both full backs fit plus Innis then hopefully things may improve and we can build on a more solid back line. I know I am cltching at straws but I live in hope!
Not sure how Garner thought the team didn't deserve to be booed. He was obviously watching a different game. Four shots with one on target against a side who only had one on target themselves. It is difficult and unfair to single out individual players because as a team we really need to do better. Going to be a long season!!1 -

Maybe the fans commitment mirrors his own.2 -
Nothing has been forced on Garner, a patient passing from the back style is what he wants to play, it's not as if he secretly would rather play direct football or counter attack football.
Indeed my concern is that you'd expect us to be playing this style better by now, two months into the season, when we're actually going backwards.0 -

I feel like Brownie is anything but a Charlton supporter. Constantly says how disappointing our opponents are, never talks up our good stuff anymore (it's limited I know.)2

You can blame Garner all you want and call for his dismissal but what chance has he got when Blackett-Taylor performs like he he did when he came on.
In his 20 minute or so appearance there was a total lack of effort and skill. He constantly lost possession, gave the ball away or dribbled it out. For a professional footballer to put on such a display was appalling.
Rumour has it Garner dropped him previously for lack of effort. Maybe this was B-T's eff you response. But on yesterday's showing I would much rather we gave young Campbell a game. At least he would try.10 -
I like Garner overall but it’s a worry how many players appear to be going backwards.
CBT - has the potential to be a huge threat in this division but has been off the pace recently and dropped to a new low yesterday.
Stockley - scored 18 goals last season but is not half the same player this year.
DJ - showed glimpses of quality when he first joined but now looks lost and frozen out (even before his recent injury)
Lavelle - showed promise when he came back from injury last year but has looked unconfident and shakey throughout this season.
How have so many suddenly turned so bad? (In any formation we play).
Ben & Scott definitely have their work cut. Its clear that many are in desperate need of a morale / confidence boost.2 -
Big positive for me: Inniss. Playing 90 minutes most weeks and playing really, really well. A terrific defender and distribution improving. Make him skipper, seriously4
