Not a lot more I can add, but two points, not seen raised.

!) What has happened to Woolacott? Ever since him spilling that cross for the FGR equaliser, he has been almost entirely rooted to his line. Used to come for everything. His kicking is also getting worse I feel. I know this is harsh but, there is an argument he could have done a lot better for all 4 goals yesterday and certainly MK's second on Tuesday.

    2) I said it at the time, but I think Stockley's hip injury is a chronic one which is affecting his leaping and a loss of pace/mobility (if he ever had any!). In other words, he's not coming back to full fitness ever and we would do well to move him on, but can't see anyone taking him after a medical.
I think this is more true than people are letting on, I get even at his best he wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but that was more taste and fancy.

He is a shadow of the player he was 18 months ago.  The system doesn't help but that doesn't effect everything.

Jesus what a game. There 2nd goal was terrible on our part, letting them play the ball.

I don't think Ipswich were that great tbh. They have enough talent to do well enough but not the world beaters there made out to be.

Left at 3-2 to my shame but what a result. There's a decent team here...need some holes plugged in January then who knows what we can do.

Edit: ref was quite honestly the worst one we've had. Fucking disgrace.
Can you find a different word or name to use instead of Jesus please?
    Thanks.
Plays for Arsenal, what's the problem ?
    I think @john3 lost his :16

Possibly a season defining game for fans, manager, and team … time will tell

I think the people who give Stockley very low marks are wrong. Admittedly he is a relatively limited League 1 striker but the poor guy has to play up front virtually on his own. He gets no support at all from Kirk ( who is useless) and precious little from Rak Saki. He won quite a lot of headers today but its pointless because there is no one near him to help or take advantage. Also he is very important defensively because he is the 2nd best after Inniss at clearing headers.
The other point is that the reason Aneke is so effective when he comes on is because the defenders are tired partly from their physical battle against Stockley.
I feel that he is barely winning any headers up front and certainly isn't giving defenders any physical battles.

If he needs anymore nurturing he’ll be in the Lisbie bracket of coming good
Is Lisbie still a "promising youngster" ?

I've watched this about 20 times and I still do a little scream inside.
"Almost" the best (at least the funniest) bit is when Dobbo (legend in the making) does his tippy tappy dance along the front of the Covered End not quite sure how to celebrate his goal, turns around & is instantly poleaxed by Sess  :D

    Sometimes I think we're expecting Pirlo !
Pirlo did it more than a few games a season. Don’t think anybody questions the ability, it’s the lack of consistency which prevents him from progressing.
It's also why he remains in league 1. If he had the consistency he'd be in the championship I am sure.
Possibly. But the amount of times he turns up is the reason he’s never even been able to cement a place for us, mostly as a mid-table league 1 side.

Also loved Garners passion - don’t think I’ve ever seen a manager quite lose his shit like that with a ref
Agree. But what’s the betting that he gets a fine or touchline ban - or both. The standard of officials this season seems to be worse than usual - imagine the outrage if the pampered prima-donnas in the Greed League©️ had to put up with it!

Well it’s currently not good enough , we have to be wiser and obviously it all depends on what we can spend .
we’re not that far off but we need better if we want a chance of going up
That’ll be why we brought in Fraser…

As mentioned a little bit above of course the ref was pony but we had two monster calls go our way by him , firstly when Chuks threw one of their players out the way having grabbed him round the neck
then the ridiculous amount of extra time to the originally 6 minutes that allowed us to grab the equaliser, yes there had been goals but he didn’t have to play the extra 5 mins on top of the 6 mins or whatever it was, that’s definitely the most I’ve ever seen added to added when there was little injury time in it .
that was a major result of which the ref was atrocious but it worked in our favour in the end waking up the walking dead of our support and getting some fire in our bellies and then the ignoring of Chuks’s clotheslining and then we’ll play till Charlton equalise at the end .
just some level headed contrarian perspective from myself .
Extra time added on to the six minutes wasn’t because of injuries, it was because of the time the four goal celebrations took, especially Ipswich who milked it excessively and got punished for it. What happened should be the norm and not the exception and adding on that time was about the only thing the ref got right all game.

    Their 2nd was off side.
It's extremely tight and noticeable Charlton's players barely appealed for it.  However would fans prefer goals like this to be ruled out by a millimetre on VaR but then lose the unbridled joy of a last gasp equaliser wondering if there might be a check that rules it out? (see Spurs on Wednesday night)
That is not extremely tight, not even close, it is clearly offside.

Not seen it mentioned but whilst Garner’s rant, sending off and whipping up the crowd may have been the catalyst it was Scott Lindsay who oversaw two comebacks and a performance that will live long in the memory.

Scott Marshall... Lindsay doesn't work for us

Swindon did come from 1-0 and 2-1 down to win 5-2 this weekend though 😉

I think maaaaybe he was taking the piss out of their fourth goal celebration, if you watch that back you’ll see their no.5 doing a similar little run - or maybe you’re right and he just didn’t know what to do 😂
  • Lot's of comments on the ref, and agree he was a total arsehole for 90% of the game, the only part he got right was the injury time of 9+ minutes, and was good to see the Ipswich team being punished in the end for celebrating like they had won the bloody league after each of their injury time goals, they got what they deserved, resulting in us getting our just rewards...
Ipswich supporters crying in their beer is hilarious..we was robbed etc etc, look closer to home you mugs...

    Just brilliant

Same I keep noticing new things every time I watch it. Like Scott Fraser either screaming at the ref to let play continue, or to Morgan to get the ball into the box after he passed it to him to swing it in for Dobsons goal.
  • 60 years of watching us, was only the second time I'd left early!

It was euphoric, but doesn’t alter the fact it was another two points dropped, leaving us twelve points behind target.
That means winning all home matches, and six away plus drawing the rest.
That remains my aspiration until we have played 23 games, then the target might have to be adjusted for a play off place.
    Play offs being a lottery.

My aspiration remains for us to win 7-0 every game.
I've now seen us fail to achieve my target every game for 50 consecutive years.
I may consider adjusting my target if it doesn't start happening soon.
    6-0 or 7-1?

Is it just a coincidence sasa Illic was interviewed by Minto and curbs before the game...mostly reflecting on the 98 triumph

And the Ipswich game finished 4-4

I know, it's not too much of a coincidence and stranger things have happened,  but a 4-4 scoreline is very rare in any match that has ever been played!

Happened vs Rochdale, Millwall, West Ham in my time supporting us, probably some others. Rare yes but it does happen now and again

There was still 15 seconds to play after the equaliser. Should have been plenty of time to get the winner but instead we played for a draw. Negative football 😉

Drew 5-5 with Bristol R and followed it up with a 5-4 win at Chesterfield!
