  • Those players are 26, 24 and 29 respectively. They haven't all become "late developers" but have just been in the wrong selection pool. Zain Ul-Hasan played a game for Kent 2s last season and actually scored 116 and 31 in the match,

It will honestly be so glorious if Zain Ul-Hassan and Zaman Akhter score a double ton and take a 10-for respectively against Yorkshire this season
  • Arafat gets his 3rd wicket - some bloke called Foakes to add to Pope and Smith

    179-5
  • meanwhile in relegation watch :

Northants are 27-6 in reply to Hampshire's 367
Middlesex are 54-4 in rely to Somerset's 404
  • And a 4th wicket to Arafat. Beats Jacks with one and then the batsman mistimes his pull

    180-6
  • Blimey, some guy I'd never heard of until a few days ago has turned into the leader of our attack!
  • The last Kent player to take 5 wickets in an innings in the CC on his debut was Edmond Crush some 77 years ago in 1946. Now that would be a special record for Arafat to break.

I'm so made up for him!  He's a lovely bloke, and always gives 100% every match.  Not the quickest (but not slow...), does a little bit in the air and off the pitch, and fairly accurate too.
  • 208-6 and 70 behind
  • 2nd wicket to Evison

    211-7

Northants finally end up all out for 56. How did they manage to beat Middlesex?
  • Abbott being annoyingly resilient at the crease - need to skittle him quick now
  • Thought had a chance of first innings lead, but looks like we will be chasing

  • 264-8 wicket for Agar.

Catch but couldn't see who took it on the stream.
  • Good rising delivery from Agar (the 3rd with the new ball) is caught by Compton in the slips and Lawes is gone

    264-8

Abbott doing for Surrey what Evison did for Kent.
Looks like it's going to be a second innings shootout.
  • Surrey 280-8 first innings lead.

Probably declare when we get 400

Bhuiyan conceding a few veering down the leg side in this spell. 291-8 now.

In fairness some of those have been byes and leg byes which don't go against him.
  • Surrey 296-8 at tea.

  • Stewart just gone for 11 off his over. 307-8
  • Stewart gone for another 11 325-8
  • 329-9 Abbott caught behind off Agar.
  • Atkinson playing himself into the Test side here
  • edited May 2023
Atkinson hit 2 successive 6s off Hogan.

EDIT: Hogan then bowled a wide before Atkinson hit another 6 then a dot and then a 4. 22 off the over.

    Surrey 358-9

  • 362 all out and a lead of 84
  • WA Agar   19.3-2-76-3
    MG Hogan   21-3-72-1
    AH Bhuiyan   20-6-65-4
    G Stewart   17-4-59-0
    JDM Evison   11-2-54-2
    JA Leaning    4-1-13-0
  • Surrey all out 362.

Worrall bowled Agar after hitting him for 4 the ball before.
  • We need Crawley and Compton to take root.

If Surrey's 8-11 can score like they have then hopefully Kent's batsmen can too!?
  • it's our 1-7 you need to worry about Len
