I think Leko going to MK Dons has destroyed the matrix - the stars were aligned for a return for a 3rd time, but now everything is up in the air

I thought thus time, with Andy Scott in charge, we would finally bring in some quality players.
Not easily done when he only joined three days prior to the window opening - Need to be better prepared than that, hence why you'll hear others saying that our preparation for the Summer Window often begins in March
Or maybe that's not why Scott is here...

If the above is even remotely correct then football in league one..  Division 3 ffs is absolutely bonkers!
Where did you find this list chap,

Find it really hard to believe Plymouth have two players on 900k a year
It was on the same site that an earlier poster listed, quoting what some of our players were earning. I looked at the menu and found a top earnings tab for league one. I knew Bannan was on around £20k a week as it was widely known when Wednesday got relegated.

But no. Its same old same old.

I suppose with the 3 wins since the New Year it has at least quelled the relegation fears somewhat......and making any major signings less important.

Will just have to continue with square pegs in round holes for yet another season.

    Sigh..
I didn’t realise the window had slammed shut?

And the January window started in the Autumn......or so we were told by SG.

Its not as if needing a LB or a couple of strikers was a new problem. We all knew on Sept 1st we were light in these areas. 2/3rds of the way into the window & we've signed an ex-player who wasn't all that 1st time around & a defender who lasted less than 45 mins before limping off & probably wont be seen this side of Easter.

But never mind, we always have the summer window to look forward to. Pretty sure we wont be in this position then 😅😅😅

I see that  our ex player Tarique Fosu has joined Rotherham on loan. Does this mean Shane Ferguson is now available?

He would be able to cover left back.

Plymouth having two players on 18K a week is mind blowing if true.
Is that what are Plymouth paying or what they are on at the parent club

Got to say disappointing transfer window.  Trouble is you can have the ambition but if players don’t want to come, unless you pay silly wages it’s going to be tough

The latter. No way do Plymouth have that kind of money.

That's why Sandgaard's summer transfer policy was such a shambles. Most players in January are still under contract and would want, in most cases, to get a long contract and wages that are pretty close to the contract they are on. To go a half a season plus without a left back and a forward, declaring we will address the issue in January, is simply stupid.

The fact that two young players at championship clubs are on 18k per week just shows you how much the championship has moved on since we were last close to competing in it

Blackburn hoping to sign Porteous from Hibs next week, central defender, and maybe that releases Edun.
I think Hibs are also interested in Edun so not good news.

The transfer window isn't over yet...plenty of time to do business in 10 days.
Problem with January is that majority of clubs won't sell unless it's for stupid money or they have a replacement lined up which can leave it late.

I understand we don't have money to splash but there are deals to be had no doubt. Ipswich have paid a 7 figure fee for a young, fairly unproven lad from Arsenal. It's crazy.

I think Edun will sign but not until later on.

January window is ridiculously hard to navigate.

You’d be crazy not to think this transfer window is going exactly the same way as all the others in recent years. All the talk is about Edun, a player in a position we desperately need so no one talks about anyone else or any other positions. He signs for someone else in the last few days of the window we sign someone shit or nobody at all, and neglect all the other positions we need players for

the figures in Salary Soort are only a guide and are definitely not gospel.

I know of a player who was showing as earning £5000 a week last season and was actually on £600 a week.  Apply a pinch of salt
  • I do wonder if there might just have been a bit of panic around the club when it was looking very possible we could easily get dragged into the relegation places. We heard rumours of money being spent and Scott arriving with a reputation for sourcing players but now, when although far from certain it’s looking like we’ll just finish somewhere in the middle perhaps the rush to sign players in January has become less urgent. If we believe rumours there’s not a lot of money from either TS or whoever is looking to take over. Not spending unless extremely necessary must look very attractive?

There is no chance that Sam Cosgrove is on nearly a million quid a year.
Isn't he on loan from the championship?
He wasn't on £5k at Aberdeen and has struggled to score regularly since leaving them.

Except to the fans and those waivering over a new season ticket. I’m sure I’ll get the true fans will go but I’d tell them to have a look around the stadium on match days. We are in trouble as a club and we desperately need a change of owner/fortune/league.

I assume Scott, Rodwell and Warwick are here to siphon off the Manchester United windfall.
Holden has at least earned his wage.
Oh and Methven’s aeroplane flights to our matches don’t pay for themselves.
I suppose the freeloaders still have 10 days to prove me wrong.

I think Dubai raised the expectations of the transfer window and is now disappointed.

    It all seemed rather hopeful.

Disappointing window so far and I cant see it getting much better. Disappointing takeover so far and I cant see it getting much better. Wait I see a theme occurring.

Some people dump their frustrations on here when things don't happen as quickly as they think it should.
And then try to portray their opinions as fact.

That maybe is the herd instinct of many on Charlton Life ..... but back in the real world, things can often be happening behind the scenes that we haven't been told about yet.

In fact, Dean Holden has said time and time again that the club are not discussing their transfer business until a signing is made. Okay, I get that some people don't pay attention or disregard what he says - but really, that's the truth of the matter: the club are not discussing transfer business until a signing is made.

Curbs did no differently, so why does it become such an issue right now?

We do have the backing now might just be like every Jan window most business gets done  in the last few days …
