One of the most entertaining Games I have seen for a long time at the Valley.
we should have been winning at Half time,
missed two sitters.
great performance and bloody well done 👍👍👍
Our New manager will have seen some positives from tonight’s great Victory 👌👌1 -

We were 2-0 down as well
We were top of the championship, they were only really a handful of places above us.
We are nearly 70 places behind Brighton.1 -

But them's the rules. The players gave 120 minutes of effort condensed into 90, knowing that they didn't have to worry about extra time being possible.

Definitely the biggest since the 20s though like you say I think0 -
So IMO there's 3 categories to the team's left.
The marquee game
Man United, Liverpool/Man City
These are the heavy hitters, with players you want to see in the flesh and impressive stadiums
The cup chasers
Newcastle, Leicester
These are, IMO, the two to avoid, they will have decent following, and are going to push hard for silverware
The potential upsets
Wolves, Southampton, Nottingham Forest
3 games that arguably will have survival on their minds more than cup games28 -
Impressive by AMB - Woolacott may struggle to get the shirt back.10

Since that abomination of the FA cup we were superb in the first half of Rovers and undone by two pieces of savage individual ineptitude and then he’s just gone and pulled this out the bag. Well played.
Yes really pleased for him. Stepped up when the club needed him, and the players have responded. I think the tactics were an essential part of this evening, considering the difference in talent. The compact shape off the ball, and the hard work showed. Even RS was back tracking regularly to help Chin out.
Anthony Hayes a fellow paddy stepped up to the plate and did a great job tonight.
well done Anthony ☘️☘️☘️👍👍👍👍2 -

Anyone miss Garnerball??
That was a quality performance and they left it all out there on the pitch.
Now, do the same in the league and "they will come" and fill The Valley again.
Well done lads. Restored a lot of pride for us tonight.

Another home draw against one of the last three please.
With this competition's format you just need home draws and defend like hell. Wolves can't score for toffee and it's do-able (it sounds crazy but no more than suggesting that we'd win tonight).2 -
mattinfinland said:The last 20 mins the fans were sensational. With all that has been going on you sometimes forget just how loud and brilliant our support can be. I really hope we can get that kind of atmosfear back into our league games and that this is the first step to getting our great club back on track.
That was proper Charlton.
Well done all!
That in itself, is the victory for all Charlton fans and its even more important
Excellent news and great to hear 👍
I watched a video earlier of Bowyer saying how great Leeds fans are. Really wound me up.
No, Leeds fans are just loud gobby northerners who have nothing else going on in their boring life apart from watching someone kick a football around2 -

Come on - let’s be the Wycombe to one of these Premier League wankers9
-
That was a proper Plan B performance. Compact at the back, and 95% of the time it was no nonsense defending. Inniss IS a good defender at this level if it's clear in his mind that his job is to defend and clear, not piss about when under pressure, as he's not good enough to play Pep football
Yes Brighton were rusty, but they created very few clear cut chances, despite the quality of Mitoma and Trossard when they came on. And the noise in the stadium swung behind us as the game went on.
To be honest, I was counting down to penalties since halftime. Perfect for us that there was no extra time, as the players were dead on their legs by the end.
Some terrible penalties from both sides, but the Stevenage win gave me confidence we could do it 😀7 -

The linesman really didn't like Sess's legal defending tonight. He had no idea whatsoever.
Great game to watch for those who want to see this kinda atmosphere and needle at the Valley. AMB and Dobson really stood out. Ness looks calm and good.0 -
lancashire lad said:aliwibble said:I did my traditional "avoid the match thread if I can't legally stream it" thing, so only found out the score when my Dad phoned me up at 10 o'clock. He's a wind-up merchant, so had to get Mum to verify that we'd actually won on penalties, and couldn't believe it when I actually saw how many of them hit the woodwork (are we sure we weren't using non-regulation goals?). I think all of our fans who've trekked to games where we've crumbled under pressure earned that one tonight, and hopefully the players will take some confidence from it going forward. For those who didn't access a dodgy stream, highlights are on ITV4 at 11pm.1

Just checked oddschecker and we're 150/1 to win the cup. Worryingly Burnley are only 100/1, and they're out...35

Fabulous result. Can’t wait to get into work tomorrow and rub it in to the locals10

Other than the incredible result the best moment of the night was the “Shall we sing a song for you?” moment.
