It hasn’t been fun supporting us for a while, but nights like tonight just make us realise just why we support this currently mediocre league one team and always will - until we all one day leave this earth, completely irregardless of who owns this club and what league we’re in.
Innis should have known better than to jump up like he made it up off the street in a ruck. The ref gave them a drop ball but if he stayed down we would have got a sympathy free kick.
Want to go to bed but I’m just too buzzed up! Tonight showed what this club is all about. Proud of every fan who got behind the team and created an atmosphere I remember only too well a few years ago. Fingers crossed it can be the start of a positive turnaround on and off the pitch…
Too late & too tired for more but just wanted to say FANTASTIC EVENING !!!!
Everyone of the lads in the red shirt did us proud tonight especially the young'uns, bless their cotton socks.
Great to have our 2 eldest grandkids & daughter there to witness this very special performance.
It's been so long since we witnessed such commitment, determination & sheer guts from our team ....tonight they gave their all and were rewarded by a superb victory against the Seagulls.
But as I log off, it would be remiss of me to mention the 12th man there tonight who spurred on the boys from the first to final whistle and through those nail biting pens. Absolutely brilliant support whilst the Blues seem to have forgotten just how to "make some noise " as someone once said...
And having a lovely catch up with our Oz before ko made it the perfect evening. SO pleased he was able to see such a performance in the flesh.
I think George Dobson might be one of my favourite Charlton players ever. I’ve watched the leadership of Mark Kinsella, the goals of Darren Bent, the effortless class of Andy Reid, even the willingness of a loan player in Josh Cullen, but there’s something about Dobson that makes me love him. In a sea of shit he’s a shining light. Even to look at him he’s so unconventional, his slouched posture. But fuck me does that boy cover some ground, makes some awesome tackles. There’s a cliche that fans just wanna see something in their players that what they lack in talent (and he does have talent) they make up for in effort. This boy is that player.
Name him captain and lets change our season around from now. Nobody needs a moaner/really nice at all things when off pitch, as their 'leader', you need a Dobbo.
Buzzing and struggling to sleep after that match, what a night down at The Valley. Charlton stalwarts Bob and Keith both declared before the match that if we keep them at 0-0 for as long as possible you never know where it might end, well said those men. Amazing atmosphere and I lived every one of those penalties in fact my Fitbit told me I was in the cardio zone for that time!! The Brighton fans were very complimentary at the end and wished us well in the next round. Also was asked to present the bottle of champagne to AMB for his match winning performance. What a night, if Carlsberg did cup matches they would be just like that. So less than 24 hours to find out our next opponents.
Whether it was instructed or not, I had a lot of time for Ashley Maynard-Brewer taking a look at both of our centre halves and absolutely saying “absolutely not” and sending it long.
I didn’t agree with the sacking of Garner, however my biggest criticism of him was that he tried to convince the likes of Inniss and Lavelle that they were footballers rather than walking heading machines,
AMB didn’t buy into that shit and just got rid, it made a huge difference in the way the game was played, that deserves credit.
I fuckin love u Charlton Athletic…what an incredible night, everyone bar Chuks for obvious reasons left everything out on that pitch…well done the lot of ya’s including management team, more of that please…
Can't sleep. Magnificent performance by every one of them. They were just so disciplined, determined and together as a team. Big shout out to the architect of that performance. Love football and love Charlton. My two Brighton supporting workmates must be dreading the morning. I am going to be unbearable.
Don’t know if anyone else who was there with their kids was thinking the same, but when Lavelle was walking up I was just saying in my head ‘please give my boy something to cheer about’.
It’s so painful trying to keep kids into it when we are as consistently shit and on a downward trajectory as we have been / are. He went crazy at the end, absolutely loved it. Gave me far more pleasure than us actually winning seeing him get a very rare bit of joy from following us.
Football celebrations can give you unbridled, spontaneous cheer that you just don’t get with anything else. It’s been missing in action at Charlton for far too long.
That's so lovely to hear mate.
Every time our keeper went in goal, I said come on Ash, make yourself a Charlton hero....and what a good save, plus he went the right way for all their pens. Top top night.
One of the few benefits of living 12 time zones away is that for special evening games like today (my today and morning) i can buzz out for 14 hours or so afterwards. You lot have to go to bed not long after the game finishes.

On the train home, without voice and feeling drained, but fecking happy.
There are some nights down the valley that are just special. Tonight wasn't like the Cardiff game under SCP all those years ago, and I wasn't at any of the playoff games recently. But the energy and emotion from our support was exceptional. THAT was Charlton support at its best. We were loud, and relentless. Brighton were incredibly quiet all game. We didn't give them space to make any noise. Lookimg around from the upper covered end, both the AC stand and lower west were invested and engaged with the energy created.
I danced amd hugged strangers when Lavelle smashed home the winner. I had a bunch of top fellas sitting around me.
I'll comment on the game tomorrow, it's inconsequential right now. Tonight was about finding our spirit again. And we done that in spades. I do want to say thank you to @Fanny Fanackapan, who I had the honour of catching up again pre game. Always a absolute pleasure.
What a night!! COYR's!!
It’s gonna take you ages to get home by train, mate

Not as long as Bangkok addicks trip, least my train was running!
Had this bizarre dream last night where Charlton beat a Premiership
team in a cup game in front of a rocking Valley, Lavelle and Inniss played magnificently
to keep a clean sheet and then Lavelle smashed in the winner from the penalty
spot.
After the final whistle, Amanda Holden dressed only in Charlton
football socks kissed me on the lips and informed me she was the new Charlton manager and
she had selected me to be her personal masseur for the 2023 season.

Onwards & upwards !!!

That wasn’t part of the script, I thought we’d be 2 or 3 down after 10 minutes!

Still waiting for the second bit to come true.
0 out of 4 dribbles succeeded
0 out of 5 duels won
possession lost 12 times
I’ve felt that Richard has looked out of place on occasions this season, but thought he was superb last night.
