Then his 'laughing at Charlton fans' picture post on Twitter, which he later claimed was aimed at QPR, which nobody believed. And now there's this. I can only imagine what he's like in the changing room.

I was more than prepared to give Bonne a chance when he signed in January, game after game, I tried to see past the noise from fans, saying how naff he was, I wanted him to ‘Come good’ as East Stand Mike used to say.
But this fella keeps putting his foot in it, time and time again and riles up the Charlton fans.
Its a bit disrespectful to your employer and the fans who pay your wages (I’m guessing we are paying him something).

it's so easy to call for someone's head without understanding the reasons why we signed Bonne. I think it's quite simple, he was the only available player for that budget. Nothing to do with poor scouting in my view and everything to do with who was available and willing to join.
It's not my job to know who is available and their price but there is no way that Bonne was the only player available... Port Vale took Matty Taylor from Oxford who would have been better for example.

I think it has also been made clear recently that Gallen doesn't identify and scout players anymore, he is in charge of negotiating with clubs and players once they have been identified by the scouting team (MS and his black box).

He has been a key part of our recruitment team for something like 4-5 years now. His first year (I think) was a big success with promotion and some inspired signings. Since when our recruitment has been dreadful. This has included times we have been skint but also times when relative to other L1 clubs we have been quite wealthy.
He pinned his sail to the mast on the likes of Kirk whom is an appallingly as signing we chased over multiple windows.
This is my view as a football fan, on a football fans forum. Of course I don't know who was available or their cost and maybe everyone else was poor but I knew Bonne was crap because I had seen him before. I even heard Gallen say the best bit of business he had ever done was selling him with a smile on his face. Then we bring him back.
Maybe Gallen has been really hard done by and all his amazing recommendations have been turned down by others who were more persuasive than him but after years now of poor recruitment, a shake up of the recruitment team seems sensible and for me that is goodbye to MS and SG.

It's been bad and disappointing but it hasn't really affected anything. He was free, only on a six month deal so essentially the same as a loan and came in at a time when nothing mattered.
Last three years might be a bit tight. Lavelle, Kirk, Penney, Mac, Castillo, John, Arter, Chuks 2.0, Watson, Souare, Gilbey, Gunter, Maddison, Matthews 2.0, Schwartz, Levitt, Smith, Leko 2.0, Roddy, Smyth was a big disappointment. That's 20 going back three years, plenty of room for debate in there and honestly even with that I'd say Bonne is number 21. Within these there's a bit of everything; players so bad they didn't even play, players signed for big money who let us down, players brought in to be relied on for promotion who failed us, backup players signed because they were cheap enough before we realised exactly why they were so cheap. Bonne's been bad but I've honestly found it hard to care based on where we were when he joined. There have been some absolutely dreadful players in recent years. But I wouldn’t put the likes of Lavelle, Watson, Gunter, MacGilivray or Kirk in the same category as Bonne.
At least we could see why those players were signed in the first place and they weren’t met with complete bewilderment like Bonne’s re-signing. Those were players who were looked at as having the potential or experience to have us challenging for the playoffs, and it simply didn’t work out.
And that’s coming from someone who really has it in for the likes of Gunter and Watson who took us for a ride.

I guess in the end it all comes down to perception and where you are with the team. I don't disagree with what you've said, but at the same time I do fully understand why Bonne was signed in the first place; the season was over, we needed a body in to replace Stockley and weren't going to be doing a rebuild while the owner was trying to leave. That was literally it, and Bonne was cheap, available and had scored goals for us before, albeit a while back (but at a higher level). I see the logic. I don't like it one bit, but I see it. The honest truth is it hasn't mattered if he's been good or not. We have a mishmash team that fluctuates between good and bad results every other week and we're just waiting for the 46th game to put us out of our misery. I'm at hardcore apathy stage so I don't have the energy to care about Bonne.
Bonne has performed to the level I thought he probably would. I hoped he'd be better, not shocked when he wasn't. Lavelle, Mac, Kirk, these were players brought in for our serious promotion run under Adkins. We'd just finished outside the play-offs on goal difference and we should have been on the up, and these nothings murdered us. They now all, weirdly, play for Burton. One of them plays every week, one here and there and the other doesn't at all. We signed a player who even Burton don't want and they could still be relegated. Watson and Gunter looked like smart, experienced signings and they were pathetic. They annoy me when I look back, I think about how their failures led to us getting to a point where we're picking up a player like Bonne just because he's there and we don't care anymore.
Bonne I view as a symptom while these other players are a cause, but I appreciate that that's mostly because I currently feel next to nothing when we have games.

I don't know what he's being paid in wages but I would be really surprised if it was more than we were paying Stockley, who we signed from a Championship club and cost us around £500k in transfer fees. Stockley out for cash and the removed ongoing costs of his longer term contract, Bonne in until the end of the season. I'd say that's pretty cheap.

I think as Louis Mendez was alluding to in his excellent takeaways, a level of acceptance is creeping into the fanbase. To accept this transfer of Bonne, and that we chased him for two windows, is to accept us as a mid-level L1 club. If we're happy with the kind of season we just had, I guess that's fine. Personally I'm pretty furious, and certainly not happy with this transfer, despite the explanation.

That list gave me shivers when i read it, no one wonder we are floundering , the recruitment / ownership whatever you want to call it, has to change, if we are to not be in the same situation next season.
