We've been chasing Championship quality players. Unfortunately we missed out because they have signed for Championship clubs.golfaddick said:
Peter Storrie has just said that the takeover hasn't hindered transfers & there is money to cover signings & wages for June & July.Scoham said:
The change of ownership hasn’t completed yet, if they intend to pay fees I can’t see that happening until it’s 100% done.Smithy said:
Why waste the opportunity to pick up points early though? I'm sure we'll get more than 2 by September but it is disappointing given that the change of ownership hasn't actually prevented us from signing players.CafcWest said:
Season starts in 2 weeks but the window is open until 1st September. Not ideal getting new players in after the start but it looks like it may well be...Smithy said:I actually didn't clock that it's only 2 weeks until the season starts. We've got a huge amount to do in that time and hopefully Storrie's comments about needing 2 more to be competitive aren't actually a reflection of the business we're going to do before Orient.
Next excuse.4 -
Who to say one hasn’t signed? can be announced in the morningsillav nitram said:So, what happened to the two I'm incoming?

Chris Francis has landed at palace according to Fabrizio on twitter, very bizarre he’s gone from a trial with us to a ‘mid table’ prem team.8
-
Previously on the books at Bournemouth so he might not be wanting to step all the way back to League One even if he doesn't end up back in the Prem.cafc_harry said:Chris Francis has landed at palace according to Fabrizio on twitter, very bizarre he’s gone from a trial with us to a ‘mid table’ prem team.
He/his agent is probably aiming a bit higher right now (rightly or wrongly) and his trial here was more just a chance to get a run out.1 -
I expect it will be the Blackburn left back ?bertpalmer said:

Clearly we were a step too far for him, and he decided to start from a lesser position and work his way up...🙄cafc_harry said:Chris Francis has landed at palace according to Fabrizio on twitter, very bizarre he’s gone from a trial with us to a ‘mid table’ prem team.8 -
He also went to Portugal with Sheff U. Perhaps we can get him on loan?cafc_harry said:Chris Francis has landed at palace according to Fabrizio on twitter, very bizarre he’s gone from a trial with us to a ‘mid table’ prem team.0 -
You'd like to think, like those clubs who get to play-offs about what division they'll be in, we have lists of targets pre and post takeover.0

Paul Eliot and Steve Sutherland?sillav nitram said:So, what happened to the two I'm incoming?4 -
Perhaps he enjoyed playing at park view road so much for us the other week that he decided selhurst was the most comparable home for him for the coming season.cafc_harry said:Chris Francis has landed at palace according to Fabrizio on twitter, very bizarre he’s gone from a trial with us to a ‘mid table’ prem team.16 -
I wonder if we will aim for Francis on loan? He could LCB. We know how we like to collect injuries etc.0

His agent doing a v.good job tbh. The bloke is nearly 21 and has 6 appearances in non-league to his name according to Google.
Anyone remember from his game with us if he even looked anywhere near league 1 level?0 -
Impossible to tell as it was against Welling. Given his age I expect Palace will loan him out, it’ll be interesting to see if he does and where he ends up. Hopefully we’ve not made a mistake.Jac_52 said:thenewbie said:

Doubt we had much chance anyway if Sheff Utd and Palace were also interested. Holden said at the time he had other interest, maybe we did try and sign him1 -
I’m surprised that we’re not getting more names thrown about. It seems to have gone very very quiet.10

We don't need more names thrown about, we need bodies through the door.ShootersHillGuru said:I’m surprised that we’re not getting more names thrown about. It seems to have gone very very quiet.

What we don’t need is bodies in the trunk in the left luggage office at Brighton station.0

I’m sure things are happening behind the scenes but we are two weeks away from the opening game and a long, long way from having a top six squad. Some will say that the window doesn’t close till 1st September but before then there are a lot of points to be played for and we need to hit the ground running and don’t want to be playing catch up. There is also the danger that late signings for one reason or another won’t have had a full pre season and will themselves be a further couple of weeks from contention. There is an urgent need NOW for a LWB and another striker of note. Today would be nice 😀8

Isn’t a credible third goalkeeper the current priority?17
