Bar Gakpo who isn't a natural striker, I just don't quite see where their goal threat is. It's either youngsters like Brobby or the likes of Weghorst.

They have Malen as well who's at Dortmund but he's not a typical goalscorer. Brobbey is probably going to be the striker they pin their hopes on, he's still pretty young but has kicked on this season and is having his best year yet.

Ironically their most in form striker is Luuk de Jong at PSV but he just retired from international football.

Micky Van de Ven against Brentford was clocked at 10.38m per second, or 23.23 miles per hour. When sprint star Usain Bolt set the current 100m world record in 2009, his average speed was 10.44m per second, or 23.35mph (37.58 km/h).

Van de Ven is 6' 4". He is still only 22 and isn't the finished article yet but a Dutch CB partnership with VVD and Ake at LB (or even in a three) would have just about everything. And given that he cost Spurs just £35m, one suspects that one particular man is extremely excited about the potential profit in a couple of years time.

Wouldn't swap him for any CB in the PL right now.  He's ideal for the way we are trying to play.  And he can pass the ball to a team mate.  Its unheard of after watching Eric Dier for far too many seasons.

Apparently, the 16 year old Croatian CB we bought Luka Vuskovic (currently playing for Hayduk Split and can't join us until he's 18 in 2025!) is 6'4" and just as quick.

The Dutch typically don't have a great defence, so for them it's great, but it comes around at a time that they don't have a great team in front of them. No Wesley Sneijder pulling the strings or RVP or RVN banging in goal after goal. Depay has a decent international record but it's padded out by goals against poor opposition
Agreed, reverse to us really. Had some really promising midfielders but bar De Jong it’s not really worked out for them. Same really up top with Malen.

Simons could be the creative spark they need.

That will be just about the right time for Levy to sell Van de Ven for not a penny less than £100m!

Dutch defence, English attack would be lethal!

When you have the ball for a small % of a game against City for the majority of teams in the Premier then the good long diagonal pass( not hoof ball) by Tarkowski is the way to go to get the ball behind the full back.

City are so flexible it's nearly an impossible task for Everton.

This Man City lineup is wild though

Stones, Akanji, Dias and Ake are all centre backs by trade, then Rodri holding, then Doku, a winger, Alvarez, a striker, Foden, a number 10/Winger and Nunes, a central midfielder make up the midfield 4 behind Haaland.

If we employed the same tactics our team would look something like

    Maynard-Brewer
    Jones Ness Gillesphey Thomas
    Dobson
    Fiorini L.Watson May Campbell
    Ladapo

Which let's be honest would be absolutely awful

In geek mood today as enjoyed the Everton defending with their blocks and how all 11 players closed down from front to back.
  • With the lack of quality CBs, it can't be long before Branthwaite makes his debut for the full England side.

I’m not really bothered who wins this game, but for all Everton’s excellent defending, their tactic of staying down feigning injury for two minutes after every tackle has been irritating me. So I’m glad City scored.

That goal epitomises why Haaland is so good. The strength and speed to just shrug off Branthwaite, who has been excellent today.

The officials agree with you plus the amount of subs this half.
Haaland is the Dog's testicles and is making up for the games missed this season.

    Brighton 1-0 Spurs.

Penalty because of a foul from VDV on Welbeck.

You can always rely on him. The minute England or Tottenham fuck up, he pipes up. Arsenal do it and he turns in to Lord Lucan riding Shergar.

Probably wouldn't be any worse than what we've seen recently.

Nothing quite like 97th minute winner to stick in a Gooners throat.  Just 2 pts behind the team that won the league last week for the third time this season who are considered title contenders...

O-6 and have Arsenal declared by taking Rice and Trossard off.
Only noticed one young west ham wanker giving the brilliant Declan Rice the sign.
The ones left appreciate what a great player they have lost.

West Ham will finish this game on 36 points and Moyes will get pelters and 1 point below on 35 are Brighton and De Zerbi continues to get praise as they are easy on the eye.

Both sides lost their best player last season.

Also shows the relative fanbase and how they define success. Brighton are punching way above their weight, whereas West Ham think they should be in and around the European spots every year

Credit where credits due, the Goons have looked like title challengers today.

West Ham have been abysmal.  They just arent the same side without Paqueta.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if this is the result that breaks the camels back with West Ham's board.

Was told that Gary O'Neil was primed to take over from Moyes and it was all agreed and then Moyes went and won the European Conference and West Ham pulled the plug.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see O'Neill there in the summer if not beforehand.

West Ham were mullered, BUT their performance was a disgrace, millionaire footballers appearing not to offer any effort and not to give a fuck .. reminds me of .... ?
