I like the kid....thought he was outstanding against Derby.....didn't have a great game yesterday but hope he will push on....a loan would have helped him TBH
A loan is the last thing he needs.

He definitely has the raw goods: physicality, engine, quick feet, competitive. He does get that Albie Morgan-like 'rabbit-in-the-headlights' look in certain situations.  But time is on his side.

We have to be patient with him. Yesterday was all part of his learning. If he has the right attitude, and no reason to think otherwise, I'm sure we will be seeing the benefits sooner rather than later. One thing I like is that he doesn't change his game, even if it might not be coming off. It will suddenly come off more times than not I predict. I would rather see that than him be less ambitious and play within himself.
  • I like his aggression. He doesn’t need to tone it down, he just needs to hone it.

It came at a cost at Cambridge but a) it was a game for trying things and players out, making mistakes and learning from them and all with no negative impact on the true objective of going for promotion; b) it gave the team a chance to practice playing with only 10 men (which will no doubt happen again in a league match); and c) we were winning and we won anyway.

My advice to him would be, stay committed to every single tackle and watch the match from the middle of the Upper West on Saturday Karoy and see how your teammates are playing, where you could do something a little different/better with your distribution of the ball when you’re back on the pitch.
Very well put, we don’t need him losing that side to his game, just to manage it better
  • He is still young and inexperienced.
  • I personally think He was trying just a bit too hard to convince Jones that he should be in the team, sadly he went a bit over the top with disastrous results. No harm done, we won the games and he will learn,1/2 years time, for me 1st name on the teamsheet.
  • I hope he does well for us but I don’t see the player others do, always looks a bit chaotic to me. Hopefully with experience he settles and kicks on.

I watched a number of his games for the youth team and I saw something different and potentially special. The issue he has had to deal with is when you go up a level you get less time and I have seen opponents target him a bit in that respect, preventing him getting the time he wants. He is a single touch pass player which is a difference between the very best and everybody ese. He will adapt I am sure, as long as he listens and learns, and is going to become a fine player.

I think Asiimwe shows signs of being a special player too. We have to develop them as well as we can and reap the rewards.

I like Karoy but I don't think he's currently good enough to play a major part in a midfield vying for promotion from league one. I was surprised to see him in our matchday squads this season as I had expected him to be loaned out.
I don’t think we’ll see many loaned out under this ownership and with Jones as manager. Those on the fringes make up about a quarter of the squad, we’d lack depth if we loaned more than one or two out. They’re also going a lot cheaper as squad players than experienced L1 players, that frees up budget for first choice players.
We've got tons of depth. How many teams are able to swap their entire starting 11 for a cup game, and still play a team full of experience. And those 22 players don't include Asiimwe, Aneke or Leaburn.

As a result we have players who badly lack minutes, and after Edun and Taylor's performance on Tuesday, you imagine that Edun, Taylor and A Campbell will be ahead of Anderson when it comes to places on the bench, never mind starting. Plus we have REG or Zach Mitchell who could do a job in midfield.

Both Anderson and Assimwe need games.

I think we’re agreeing, I said we’d lack depth if we loaned more than one or two out. It’s a shame Asiimwe didn’t get a loan as Cawley said it was a possibility. It also sounded like Edun and Taylor might have moved on had it worked out.

Karoy is the new Albie Morgan.

Decent young player who gives his all yet always slagged off by some.
I think that’s a bit unfair. People see it as it is. Tuesday I didn’t think he played well at all.
  • Possession won final 3rd per 90 (& possession won in midfield per 90)

    1. Jay Stansfield 1.6 (0.9)
    2. Adrian Akande 1.6 (0.4)
    3. Gatlin O’Donkor 1.5 (1.0)
    4. Louie Barry 1.4 (2.0)
    5. Jordan Roberts 1.4 (1.9)
    6. Karoy Anderson 1.3 (3.1)
    7. Panutche Camara 1.3 (2.7)
That’s why he’s much better higher up the pitch. Not sure why we were playing him next to Coventry before
  • Karoy has been poor with his distribution, but I feel now Addicks are playing through midfield, he will have more passing options available to him.

lol! at No.7 on the list... Hope its a sign he's getting over his injuries though, typical it happens after we help get him back to fitness.

Understandable why he struggled with us, but a massively disappointing signing was Camara

I was thinking the other day that a fit Pan Camara would be good in a Jones box midfield. Still gutted his injuries stopped him having a decent run with us
He's a great player to watch, love his bursts of energy and dribbling through central midfield, able to change the momentum of the play.

I'm surprised he's at crawley. Bet they love him there.
  • I like the kid and think he has a great future……an unpolished gem but he is athletic and aggressive just needs to work more on the technical side of his game….
  • For those who watched him in the academy I would be interested to hear whether his distribution looked better there or if he has always been mainly about energy and press.
  • I think he does have the ability to match the energy and press we already know about, its his decision making that is holding him back and if anything he's trying a little bit too hard.

I'm sure Jones sees something in him to have kept the faith this far so hopefully we reap the benefits.
  • In my view watching the Academy Karoy and Jason Adigun in those days were peas in a pod, with Adigun being the more eye catching because he would be slightly more advanced and would have more attempts on goal.
Both players were combatitive and it wasn’t so much the visionary Johnny Haynes long and rangy passes they would be doing, but operating in the busiest most crowded areas of the pitch, and passing and receiving over a shorter range.
Karoy was indeed about energy and press and also, like a lot of academy players, was a good team player.
  • I looked back at what Avory said when Anderson signed pro. Really backs up what we’ve seen in the first team - great energy, pressing and intercepting, needs to work on his attacking play.
