  • Swanepoel out LBW for 0 to Chahal

    50-7
  • It was good of us to prepare a wicket for Chahal
  • Beyond embarrassing
  • Stewart hasn't faced much legspin either. You'd think netting with Parkinson for a season would teach them a thing or two, especially as Chahal has quite a similar style to him
  • Stewart caught at slip off Chahal

    52-8
  • This is fecking awful. 52/8

Cut off at 14:30 - be all done by then

Kent chose to play on a used wicket. Brilliant with one of the best spinners in the world in opposition.
  • 58-8 (25)
  • I mentioned previously that we do not have any fit, up and coming bowlers ready to play at first team level. Barney Ford has just returned to the ranks in the U18s and in a 4-day game against Middlesex had figures of 10-1-49-1 which is one of the better set given that the opposition have declared on 475-4 (86)

Or he might have learned a bit about Chahal after facing him in the nets last September?

  • Gilchrist, the walking charity, pulls a long hop from Chahal to mid-on, to give his former colleague his 5-fer

    63-9
  • Just when you thought we couldn't sink any lower! Please let this season be over soon.
  • Chahal finishes with 10-5-14-5 with 53 of his 60 balls delivered dots
  • Can Parkinson and Garrett bat out the remaining 19 overs? 😬
  • Parkinson finished on 17* (44)
  • All out for 82 after 35.1 overs! Oh dear.
  • 82 all out (35.1) The players retire for breakfast.
They should have enough spare time to play a beer match!

No guarantee that we will bat the 20 overs though

  • Given that Swanepoel leaves us after this game and Stobo might not be fit, does that mean that we might not have an overseas for the CC? So far, in all comps, we've had Agar, Swanepoel, Stobo, Bartlett and Rogers

It's clearing space so that we can bring in Pat Cummins and Virat Kohli to rescue our season.
  • Given Chahal's success with the ball, anyone else find it slightly strange that we waited for Northants to get to within 23 runs of winning before bringing Parkinson on?
  • Northants win by 9 wickets with the small matter of 36 overs to spare
  • Unless there is a miracle in the remaining matches of the CC, it is safe to say that this has been the worst season in the history of Kent CCC - bottom in the CC, bottom in the Vitality Blast and third bottom in the 50 over Cup.

    The only way is up!

    Ouch!!!
  • Thought last season was bad but this one is really taking the biscuit.

    Truly abysmal.
  • Pity I chose today for a visit to a Kent match. The weather was nice though, and so was the beer in various Canterbury pubs.

And Kent generously gave you lots more time than expected to visit those pubs.
  • Was there. Abysmal.
Seriously think the Committee has taken its eye off the first team ball. Too much following the wider ECB agenda and all energy going into the failed Women’s XI bid and the illogical desire to be based in Beckenham. Even now the worrying CEO is talking about Kent’s women joining the elite in 2029 at Beckenham; what about a strategy for the first team?
Apparently he said today at the forum that it’s great to see so many kids at the game. Amazing what having a game in the summer holidays at Canterbury does (I missed the other day!).
