He’s been in England for 8 years so that's enough to apply for British citizenship which should be a pre-requisite for the England manager’s job.
If he refuses then he isn’t committed and shouldn't have the job.
I request that anyone who clicks on lol for my above comment, explains how they would feel if we play Spain again in a tournament.
I would also like to know how they would feel if the governing bodies decided that you can have one or two foreign players in the team.
Everyone puts such an importance on the manager, and rightly so for he is part of the team. As I’ve said to my children about various things: just because it’s allowed, doesn’t mean you should do it. Otherwise, I don’t get why we should bother. The English women’s team’s victory is devalued because a member of the team (the manager) wasn’t English. It looks pretty pathetic to our rival nationalities to be frank.
You are the first person i have ever seen or heard say this.

article in y'days Sunday Times advocating there should be the same 'nationality qualifications' for managers as there is for players .. perhaps that's why the Rt Hon 'Arry Redknapp is advocating either Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard Jnr for the job, the last being a proper case of nepotism methinks

Why "or"? Make them joint managers. With those two working together we'd be unstoppable.

We could try a rotating array of assistant managers made up of former England left midfielders just to really make them feel at home
And his first game will be against.........Republic of Ireland.
Announcing him as interim though suggests they're either not entirely sure on him, or they're still hopeful of getting a bigger name.
I guess that unless they knew they wanted someone out of work like Potter, this buys some time to choose given the fixtures were pretty hot on the heels of the Euros.
Although may just want the cheap, available, low hassle option and think if he wins very win winnable games v Finland, Greece etc then they can point to that and give him the job.
Had 4 games in temporary charge before being appointed as permanent manager, we beat Malta and Scotland, and drew with Slovenia and Spain (2-2 after being 2-0 up on 88 minutes).
