I am going to say it!! Yes I am, Nathan Jones......................

I know this is just your opinion, but there's no way of knowing it will become fact. I don't buy the 'we can't sack Jones because there's no one to replace him'.J BLOCK said:If Jones leaves, we go down. If he stays, we have a chance of staying up.The owners have not invested in this squad to make us any better than scraping survival. I’m not sure how people can expect more than that.
Who's to say we couldn't get another manager who would play better football and also get some results?
Swansea were 20th in the Championship in November 2025 when Vitor Matos joined as manager. Who had heard of him? I'd guess at hardly anyone. And of the 4 people who actually had heard of him, who thought this is a great appointment, he's going to do well for them and get them challenging near the top?
Blackburn are a car crash of a club, fans hate the owners, crowds are averaging less than 14k, they nearly went down last year and were tipped to go down this year. They got Mowbray back and are doing better than us.
Of course i hope he turns it around but very honestly i think if things don't pick up by the international break, it will become pretty toxic at the Valley and he will have to go.6 -
I literally listed six reasons in a post just above yours. They were helpfully numbered, to avoid just such a misunderstanding.Radostanradical said:The only possible argument for keeping Jones in charge is the absence of a capable replacement, which should really tell you everything you need to about our prospects and some of our, so called, fans ambtions. There are mangers out there and yes it would be a gamble but I am afraid sticking with Jones is just a slow death march to League 1.
Lets be real, our early form flattered us. Even when we won 3 on the bounce were we actually playing well? For me bar the West Ham match not really. And for all the Jones disciples saying we are only 3 points off 8th or that we would of loved to be in this position last year, here is a fact - we havent won a league game since August.
As said I hope I am wrong and if we stick with Jones (a manager I have backed previously when our so called fans wanted him out for getting rid of a few players) ill be proven wrong, I just doubt I will be.
As I said, feel free to disagree with any of them, would be interested to hear it. But this post is just bollocks4 -
Because i've watched these players week in week out. They are a limited football team. We are not going to be able to start magically playing a different brand of football that is more effective than the one we have.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

You are, of course right, in stating that there is a possibility that there may be a manager out there somewhere who could do a much better job than Jones. However, even a cursory glance at the list of managers we have had since Curbishley’s resignation would suggest that would not be the case. Discounting caretaker managers, we have had nearly twenty managers since Curbishley left of which only two, Powell and Bowyer, emerge with any credit.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

What I find disconcerting is that in recent interviews he appears to be delusional and detached from reality.
Blaming Leaburn for missing multiple chances, because he's not getting in the correct areas, isn't actually missing chances!
Talking about "fine margins", that's only because we can never score more than zero or one goal.
Maybe if we actually attacked teams after going one up, we might actually get another, then perhaps late in the game, nick a third.
When was the last time we played well in both halves and scored more than 2 ?
Blackburn at home last season is the last time as far as I can recall. An extremely rare occasion when we actually played good football.
He makes everything "fine margins" because of his drab tactics.
"Certain players must be wondering what they have to do to get a game" yes indeed Nathan, so why haven't you given them a chance then ?
Normally when managers come out with such rubbish, they are approaching the end of their tenure.6 -

Carey bombed out, Knibbs never getting a start despite apparently being amazing in training, Kelman never getting a start despite Leaburn going about a year without a goal when starting, Nkeng disappearing off the face of the earth despite us being told that:
"He’s a young player who will provide real valuable competition" and "We believe he can make an immediate contribution". Yet we're still trotting out Alli who has proven to be fucking hopeless so far.

Carey was bombed out because he has been in poor form since January, Knibbs probably has deserved more of a a chance but beyond one good pass has flattered to deceive (0 accurate passes in 30 mins the other day, horrific), Kelman flits in and out of games too much and would probably result in us having even less possession. I agree it would have been nice to see Nkeng play but I see why he hasn't. I think he's been a victim of the comms around his signing being too positive.
I can see why people would disagree but at least there's logic to most of the decisions, even if it is flawed. He's done very few things where it's easy to say "that's completely mad, why's he done that?". When those things happen I'll be concerned2 -
I think the biggest thing is what on earth actually happened in the summer window? Did the ownership issues cause a complete slashing of the budget and that's how we ended up with only Alli coming in for over a million? I don't entirely buy the Rodwell spiel about putting more on wages to get Grant , Danny Mac and the contract extensions so we actually spent similar to last summer because that doesn't entirely add up.
Something clearly caused a massive change of tack because you don't go from spending £3-5m on a Jordan Holsgrove or a JRS to signing Ouma and Oliver Skipp on loan and Nkeng on deadline day without something changing behind the scenes9 -

Playing a back 5 and going defensive against a team who'd just conceded 9 in two games.
Continuing to play Skipp and Coventry when all of us can see it simply doesn't work.
Where's the logic in any of that? Admittedly i wouldn't go as far as to say any of that is 'completely mad', but at the very least it's concerning and creating your own problems.2 -
This one's pretty simple, with basically the same team we started front footed (relative for us!) against Burnley and he replaced a defensive WB with a more attacking one as his only change.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

I don't like the Skipp/Coventry pairing either but it's plain to see that part of the problem isn't with them, it's with the options they have to pass to. If the attacking 3 are pushing up along with Mesík then having two more defensive 6's isn't as much of an issue as one of them will invariably need to be covering for someone else. This goes back to your first point which is fair enough, why hasn't he tried Knibbs or Carey in the 10 for 60 minutes?
I think there is logic to the decisions, even if fans don't like it or it hasn't been effective0 -
He's still got a decent amount of credit in the bank for me, but this is the first time since very early into his tenure that I have questioned his ability to keep us up.
Really hoping he can steady the ship and soon. The not signing a right winger in the summer is arguably what is causing a great deal of these issues, and that is on him & Chapple. What happened with JRS is unfortunate but surely you have contingencies in place if & when these problems occur. Signing Nkeng just seems absolute brainless when we already have so many left sided wingers.

My conspiracy theory is that isn't on Jones and Chapple. I think that money was only available for JRS and they were given a fraction of it to find someone else which is why we signed NkengPelling1993 said:He's still got a decent amount of credit in the bank for me, but this is the first time since very early into his tenure that I have questioned his ability to keep us up.

I don’t think the money in this potential deal was anywhere close to being rumoured. Nothing points to the owners having the appetite for the type of transaction needed.fenaddick said:

I think it probably was, The Athletic reported it and they tend not to put numbers to things without being sure. Plus their source was the Palace end and it matched the figures being leaked from our endSword65pf said:

Someone on X has posted five managers we could go for. The first two, I feel, would be out of our price range.1 Parker2. Dyche3. Edwards4. Cooper5. Bowyer

I doubt it was an upfront payment, lots of clauses to reach the number if it was that money, still don’t think we would have had the intention to spend that much on a player.fenaddick said:

Rob Edwards is a good shout, what with him being a ex Luton manager and them being only down the roads from us, they could be a good source of players and potentially a scouting network we would have half a chance of tapping into
Worth a thought..17 -
Parker would be an absolute disaster waiting to happen. He's very disliked by a lot of the fanbase already and has only ever done well with the best teams in the championship.DennisBooth said:Someone on X has posted five managers we could go for. I love Bowyer but he's too hot headed, as soon as things unravel he just digs out players publicly.
Would bite your hand off for Dyche but can't see that ever happening.3 -
If we sacked Jones, only to replace him with Bowyer, we'd need to add a full-time psychotherapist for each squad member to the budget10

Bowyer is the only realistic option of those 5, and imo not a good option. The other 4 are not going to want to manage a team with our budget and squad, their next jobs will be top end championship which unfortunately we are notDennisBooth said:Someone on X has posted five managers we could go for. I’m obviously still very much Jones in, but if we did need a new manager I’d try and persuade Dave Challinor to move down south.0 -
You’re talking like this is fact when it’s not. Managers make odd moves all the time. NJ coming to us was a weird move for him.NabySarr said:
Bowyer is the only realistic option of those 5, and imo not a good option. The other 4 are not going to want to manage a team with our budget and squad, their next jobs will be top end championship which unfortunately we are notDennisBooth said:Someone on X has posted five managers we could go for. Cooper was most recently at Brondby, and i wouldn't have thought they'd be paying him that much more than we're paying Jones.fenaddick said:

Interestingly though given our own attacking issues under Jones, at one point under Cooper they went 2 months without scoring and he was of course then sacked.0 -
If the board were ambitious enough to hire one of these names then we wouldn’t be in the situation we are in because they’d have invested more on players in the summer.AberystwythAddick said:

This is incorrect. There is evidence backing my assertion, yours is purely opinion. We may get relegated if we change manager, equally we could stay up.Chizz said:
There should be no doubt whatsoever that replacing Jones now would rapidly accelerate this march.Radostanradical said:The only possible argument for keeping Jones in charge is the absence of a capable replacement, which should really tell you everything you need to about our prospects and some of our, so called, fans ambtions. There are mangers out there and yes it would be a gamble but I am afraid sticking with Jones is just a slow death march to League 1.2 -
I think they have the budget , but not the ambition and want out as soon as possible. But find it odd they have gone in balls deep and decided to pull out.🤷🏻♂️NabySarr said:
