Its Groundhog Day. Similar to when Duchatelet was in charge. If the budget is insufficient, & there are gaping holes in team then most managers are going to get exposed.

Not defending Jones but what manager or team is going to succeed or flourish under the current circumstances ?
I don't remember us ever playing this bad when Duchatelet was the owner.
    Now that's depressing
  • Isn't Rob Elliott a Charlton fan?

We could do a lot worse
  • Has to go, this is as low as it gets, the football is beyond turgid, and I would replace every single player we have happily, but we are playing Crawley at home ffs

Wouldn't pay out his contract, would keep him on as the understudy to the groundsman  and boot / kit man, cutting and polishing and cleaning till he gets the hump and quits. He might be paid his salary but it would fuck him up in a heartbeat.
Think that’s known as constructive dismissal.
  • If it’s going to happen it needs to been before January so the new manager can be backed.

I still don’t think I’m in support of changing our manager again but if so I’d like to see JJ back think he has unfinished business with us as manager.

This is bordering on harassment now, you two disagree and that's ok but no need to comment his name twice in an hour because he hasn't posted yet. No one owes another poster anything

Not meant as such! Just want to know if there is ANYONE who can possibly justify his position now.

Jones post-match interview; “we’re a bit inconsistent at the moment.” What? This is as consistent as we have been in years, we play the same utter shite game after game there’s no variation no spurts of positivity or encouragement amidst the dross.

Just good solid reliable bet-yer-house on it paint drying shite.

Sadly… despite the fact it’s clearly unpalatable and he has surely lost the dressing room… I don’t feel like he’s close to the boot
Cool, so why not say “Can anyone justify this?” rather than picking out someone in what appears from the outside to be point scoring

Starting to realise Jones is very similar to Dowie, all bluster, alpha-dynamics, he needs to have the players submit and buy completely in with him and his methodology. I’m your leader, I lead, you follow. And have a tailwind of good fortune go your way with some decent players at his disposal.

When it works, it gets momentum, the group stay tight and outperforms. But when it doesn’t work, it’s spectacularly awful.

Dowie could only make it work once at Palace but then had a succession of failures.

    Jones is looking the same.
The thing is, it kind of worked last season.
We were In a real sorry state and there's no doubt he turned it around.
What the f**ks gone on over the summer, gawd knows.

Where do we continually find this dog shit from?

Best ask Methven, they have brought three in now.
Him and the other two are the worry, Jones gets the bullet then what happens?  This mob cannot run a bath.

    100%
GFP do not know what day of the week it is, apart from the 28th of the month when their considerable wages get paid in.
Then we have the Yanks being led by Mary, Mundo and Midge.
However, changes were made when Jones was appointed in January, and I'd not be surprised if this is repeated soon, but on a larger scale.
Cost cutting has not worked, it never was.  Money has to be spent, and wisely.
Ultimately GFP have to be f***** off and we need to start again.
I'd not be surprised if we have new owners in the next twelve months, what a mess.
  • I fear they can’t afford to sack him. Methven dining out on his Wrexham success is like a kid selling lemonade at the school fete. This just shows how little money and lack of vision they have. Jones will not be cheap in league one terms, they have gambled and lost … again

Swallow your pride and sack him.
Sorry to say it and quietly frankly bored of it but we look worse than Appleton days and I was his biggest critic.
Wasn’t sure about him at first but then bought into him after Derby away but my god this is bad. I thought the 2-3 Northampton was the worse under Appleton was the worst I’ve seen but that first half tonight tops it.
He’s all over the place, anyone who thinks A Campbell should be anywhere near that first 11 scares me. Screams El Hadji Ba kind of player.
I’ll say it again like I did constantly last season -  Pick up the phone and ring Bowyer.
Fair play to those of you who are going Lincoln, I don’t know how you do it.
Edited to add also sack Andy Scott - tell me what he’s done since he’s been here? Times up buddy.

Have the Americans bought something they now regret and can see this?
  • I keep seeing the comments along the lines of ''if we were winning, no one would care'' on here and on twitter, and I have to take issue with that.

Not one person at Burton, or the majority of away games I've been to has said we played well etc that I interacted with. I'd actually say every single person I could hear or see around me at Burton was criticising how we played and when we did score, it was more just relief we got a result.

Not being a snob, and not attacking anyone's credentials as a Charlton fan or how much they attend, but it is a completely different feeling travelling for 7+ hours through the day and watching a poor performance, over sitting on the couch and spending a tenner on CharltonTV. I'm speaking from experience here. When I watched Huddersfield away the other week on the telly, I didn't feel anywhere near as disappointed as Reading away as a more recent example when we lost.

Ok I was disappointed Charlton lost, but it's a lot easier accepting s**t performances and bad results when you can just get off your couch and put on call of duty or Netflix etc.

If I spend 60-100 on petrol, 20+ on a ticket, every other weekend, I expect us to look like a team who has practiced and show ability.

I need to make it clear I'm not gate keeping, it's just the levels of disappointment just can't be the same when you're there, as opposed to watching from the comfort at home.
Because they are bottom of the table and only have 8 points and it wasn't ugly we were terrible. You know full well that isn't the point people are making. The point is if we were consistently winning matches people wouldn't mind the the style of football that achieves results.
No I actually don't know full well, because I can't understand how people keep saying ''if we were winning matches with this style you wouldn't care" as that's literally impossible, as no team ever had won anything with how we are playing.

If you went to any other sport and said right, play this s**t style, that doesn't entertain fans, and doesn't create enough chances on average to win what kind of reaction would you get?

There isn't a style, even our own manager alludes to that every other presser by saying "we aren't getting the basics right". If you can't get your team to function and do the simple stuff, how can there be a style.

No team has ever got promotion from this league playing this 'style' as it is simply not a style. It's a confused mixture of s**t. It's barely jack of all trades and absolutely master of none football.
The rarest of things coming your way, an apology from me.

You are completely right, I  agree he has to go now imo. Not only will we not get promoted i genuinely believe we may be fighting relegation now.  The style of football is crap and whilst, as previously mentioned, I can forgive that if we get results. We look no way like getting results now and i feel like Jones actively WANTS the sack now but doesnt want to give up the cash.
No need to apologise at all mate, I'm just pissed off that less than half a season in again I've lost interest in Charlton.

We have hardly had a chance.. just lumping it. It is a disgrace. And all down to Jones and the way the team is set up.
    Piss poor! Fuming
Never the owners fault. We get it.
To be honest, how can you blame them for the style and the piss poor football.. Jones was the fans choice, he is the highest paid manager in Charlton’s history. He got backed in the summer, he got what he wanted..

    it was better under Appleton.

We need outside the box appointment, and give them time.. Jones isn’t the answer for moving this club forward.
  • I’ve felt recently that it’s like he’s trying to get himself the sack with his comments about the fans and his selections. Continuing to play Alan Campbell when he’s nowhere near the standards we should be expecting is baffling.
  • Just go Nathan and take Scott , Methven , Elliott and Rodwell with you....
  • It really is the case now of Nathan Jones you've been here too long. Go! Were bored of your shit football. I had three season tickets so I could go to the Valley with my kids. One told me not to bother last summer after last seasons pile of crap The last one isn't bothered if they go anymore. If they give up at the end of this year, I think so do I. It just never gets better.

Fair point, apologies @Callumc@Callumcafc , not meant as point scoring or anything personal merely sheer frustration at the situation and what I see/ have seen as defending the indefensible… more a Graham Taylor in despair at the fourth official against Holland in ‘93 scenario
