There's no such thing as a pay as you play contract, outside of football forums and footy manager games

I’m sure there is always a base salary involved but then the majority of the payments would come from appearances. I can’t claim to know how it works but it must be possible to some extent

There have been these types of contracts used in the past, whether or not they are a thing anymore I'm not sure. Maybe someone involved in football management can chime in.

Goal bonuses, incentives and minute based bonuses will exist. 

You'd of course then have to get a player to agree to these terms, all of that part I'm not sure on. There are definitely bonuses and performance base clauses in professionals contracts though, that's a fact. 

Same as when we sign someone, there will be similar clauses there based on promotion, play time etc.

It’s easy taking over a club when all you got to worry about is the football side , our owners took on a club that had been in turmoil for over 12 years , assist stripped , so the playing side very much down the list of importance without investing in the structure of the club first .. without that you can’t build success

There are other factors to consider like damage you do to your body. Although not at this level, I played on too long and am paying for it now with my knees. I badly injured my right knee when I was 21 but the other one has gone out in sympathy now.

If he feels he can continue and wants to, he is still offering us something so I wouldn't rule out some kind of contract.

From my point of view, it was more so that Carlisle were bang in trouble, and instead of just letting it happen, their owners at least tried to correct it and signed a couple of decent players in Armstrong and Harry Lewis. They went down, and they're struggling now. The point is being missed entirely though. They spent money to at least try, and have ready made players for league2. Either way, it's fast becoming a Charlton myth and a complete exaggeration. 

You and Golfie used to bang on about it, even when we signed a couple of players he'd be like "yeah but Carlisle signed x many" as if that was some kind of yardstick we should use to measure against 

So just like I said then, me and maybe one other person which you've now remembered is Golfie. Two posters in me and Golfie who have a stern view that we need to spend money. All there is to it.

I never wanted us to compete with Carlisles signings, but we were both in a relegation fight, and reinforcements would have aided us, that was my point. Not the money they spent, or the quality of player, but that they were trying to increase their odds.

We are now in an opposite position where we have a squad that's a couple of injuries away to key players disrupting our season. We also have some players who look very tired 60 minutes onwards last game. A few signings, when money can be spent, despite the myths, would seriously help us. If they don't, we will have had to have made some additions in the summer anyway.

No matter what I say though, this time next year, the same old posts will be made. It would just be nice to not see the included Carlisle posts be a recurring theme along with the usual nonsense as it's a complete fabrication and based upon 2 users posting, not a decent % of people saying it.

I'm with you on this. A good run of form has naturally calmed people's desire for signings but it was only about 6-7 weeks ago that we were utter shit and a lot of people wanted the manager gone. It was only 2 weeks ago that we got absolutely battered by Rotherham.

I made the point yesterday that there's very fine margins in football, and yes we won the games but Bolton and Shrewsbury could've easily been draws and then the mood would be very different with us sat in mid-table. But the usual forum smart arses jumped on it and decided that i was wrong because 'we won'.

Even top PL clubs are looking to strengthen in this window, but don't worry we're all good and everything is fine because we beat Shrewsbury and Bristol Rovers.

Don’t normally agree with you Chris but on this occasion you are 100 precent correct. 

Pity some of are fans just sway from side to side when it suits them.

Mungo Jerry Erogbogbo London Bridge is 24 years old and left Aston Villa in 2022 after failing to break into the 1st team squad. Mungo had a trial at Bristol Rovers but failed to impress. Taken on by Macclesfield but never played a game. He has now returned to Daventry where he had his youth career before joining Villa.

Unfortunately for Mungo it was a bridge to far to have a professional career.
