There can't be many more dislikable sportsmen in the entire world than Steve Smith.
Thats a real achievement when he played in the same squad as David Warner

Smith given out caught behind off Starc. He reviews it for a reason only he knows because the spike was of richter scale proportions!!!

    128-6

Not a pair of bollocks between this English team. Complete and utter embarrassment.

We are 49 runs behind and in danger of losing by an innings.

Is Jamie Smith seriously England's best wicket keeping batsman?

John Simpson would be the in form pick. Might be a veteran but an outstanding gloveman and more than capable of digging sides out of a hole.

Stokes should spend a couple of minutes "gardening" between each delivery.  We shouldn't be facing more than one more over, in the six minutes left today.

    The war torn BBC correspondent?
Can't be any worse. Works pretty well in hostile foreign lands!

Haines and Coles in to shore up the batting. Forgive Ollie Robinson. Jack Carson best spinner in the country. Have I missed anyone?

One of the Rew brothers will probably be given a chance soon enough. That's not to say that there shouldn't be a place for Smith. He's better with the bat than he's shown here.

That said, all the time we ensure that our players play 100 ball cricket rather than in the CC and the 50 over variety, we are going to carry on producing batters who want to go "biff, bang, wallop" whatever the quality of the opposition or situation in the game.

Coles should be with the Lions anyway :)

Carson seems persona non grata with this current management

Boland sums it up nicely "they always play their shots so, as long as we put the ball in the right areas, we've always got a chance".

If only Engalnd had tried a bit harder, we could have finished this today and had a couple of days off...🤦‍♂️

Seeing that Day 4 will unlikely go beyond 1 session, my dilemma is.......

Do I stay up all night and watch the first session & then go to bed.

    OR

Go to bed & get up at 4am.

Unless you're a masochist, I should lie in and see the lowlights on the news...😉

Unbelievable interview with Trescothick on BBC. The preparation has been correct apparently. “We didn’t need to play a practice match at the Gabba, we didn’t need to play under the lights with the pink ball before this test.” Bazball is a cult.

The best players can adapt to all formats. The Aussies play plenty of white ball cricket.

I think a major issue is the super relaxed nature of the England management. Yes it's good to make it a fun environment, with players playing their natural game, BUT you also need discipline. After the self inflicted dismissals in Perth, they needed to tell the batsmen to knuckle down and cut out some of those " getting out" shots. Practice defence and leaving wide ones, preferably in the middle, not banter nets.

It's so easy for the Aussie bowlers, as they know they'll be gifted wickets.

I actually thought that when Root spoke yesterday.
    It's delusional

I love Marcus Trescothick but he was talking shit there and I think he knew it. He can't come out and say it was a shitshow. I make him right about not needing to practise under lights with a pink ball. Currently that's the least of our problems, I'd be in favour of putting a taser in the bat handle so every time a batsmen goes wafting after a delivery that screams LEAVE they get zapped. Like Cartman with the swearing implant

Surely this has to mean the end of Bazball...doesn't it?
  • It’s lucky we are up against a weak (and weakened) Aussie team.

If we lose this series 5 nil there will be a complete shake up with team management

The worst part is, that outside of Stark, no Aussie has really been that good.

Imagine if Smith was firing. Labuschagne. Imagine they had Cummins or Hazelwood.

We are a really poor, mindless cricket team from top to bottom and I can’t see past a 5-0
