Great win and I’m pretty sure we’ll make the play off final and lose on penalties , we’ve used all our lifetime’s worth of play off final luck up in 1987-1998-2019
it’s unbelievable how we have one from so piss poor to absolutely rock solid and good , a transformation that I didn’t think was possible .
going in to games expecting a result now is an unfamiliar feeling , long may it continue !
You are forgetting us getting knocked out of play-offs by Palace and Shrews, so it’s not all been plain sailing ……..
Don’t forget Swindon…… that one still hurts.
Was speaking to a client who is a Swindon fan who still laughs about Baileys penalty... hope it comes out of orbit soon and hits him!

Leaburn's goal has to be goal of the month, perhaps even goal of the season.

Ramsay won the ball really well, and his vision for the pass to Leaburn was absolutely brilliant, it certainly wasn't just a punt forward into the chanel.

I don't recall any footballer at any level fooling a pair of defenders with a faint to play the ball like he did.

Late to the post match and not much to add, comfortable from start to finish. Lets face it, they never intended to come and play and once we went 1-0 up it was pretty much damage limitation football from Exeter.

2 well taken individual goals, nice to see Leaburn doing the sort of things hes always been able of producing, before demanding he starts would keep him coming off the bench, hes still young and finding his feet in the game and much like Karoy (superb performance) coming into a confident winning side is better.*

Berry has played well, hes been a mainstay since the change over in football and contributed to the fine form, hes scored and assisted along the way, he suffers from a touch of the Ahadme's where expectation outweighs his plus points, and at any rate, agreeing with the resident Edgelord is hardly proof of ability.

Dominant, 3 goals, 3 points - still in the mix!

Special mentions to TC and Leaburn for their goals

Karoy for a superb performance after not starting for a while

    Ramsay for being Ramsay.

*On that subject, would like to see Ahadme come in for Chuks, seems a bit pointless having him on the bench now, we have enough to NOT be chasing a game and need the (sorry but ineffective now) battering ram form the bench, given Ahadmes start a  few late sub appearances similar to how Karoy and Leaburn have been used recently may give the lad some personal confidence and half a chance of doing something with the "new" Jones way of playing.

No. We’re trying to get in the play offs, we’re not running a charity training camp for needy aspiring footballers

I agree, Chuks isn't really adding a great deal at the moment and won't be here next season whereas Ahadme could build up some confidence as you say. We're actually playing with width now and TC is often looking to put the ball across the face of goal so we've started to play in a way that would suit Ahadme at the time when he's not playing. The main issue with that is you don't really want Ahadme and Leaburn on the pitch at the same time and it's more important to build up Miles. Still, given that we generally put 3 strikers on the bench I feel like Exeter would have been a good game to bring him on

Chuks is still a great disrupter, especially when we’re losing, and we might be in that situation in a few of the matches to come. Ahadme isn’t, and if anyone is pointless, I’m afraid it’s him, not Chuks.
A couple of weeks back Chuks posted on Instagram a clip reel of all his touches in the previous game. I was really surprised how positive that performance was. Sometimes you just don’t notice, but when it was clipped up like that you realise that there’s no one else in the team who can do what he does.

It was a clip form multiple games not just one.

Sure keep Chuks on the bench, wasted spot either way he hasnt got off it 3 times in the last 5.

A shame Wycombe are 11 points ahead as if it was 7-8 points I think they would've still been catch-able. Never say never though! Brum are miles better than everyone but we shouldn't be scared of any of the remaining 22 teams

Ramsay & TC in the best XI of the weekend. As well as Albie Morgan and Tayo Edun.

Should have also had Karoy in there as well...

You can only bring a certain number of subs on.

I think people are being way too harsh on Aneke because of the extremely high standards he’s set himself in the past. He’s come on for a few minutes here and there and not made a mind blowing contribution.🤷🏼‍♂️ the Bristol rovers game I think it was he came on and had a couple of wayward shots which were annoying but again at least he’s getting them and the ability to get those opportunities.

Ahadme started loads of games at the beginning of the season and barely had a shot on goal across all of them, the only one springs to mind was practically an open goal against Rotherham which he skied and Aneke had to save his bacon.

he’s not been on his peak form lately, but rather than worrying about boosting Ahadme’s confidence we should be thinking about who we want to be sharpest if we are desperate for a goal to get in the play offs; or indeed, in a play off semi final or final match. Anyone who seriously thinks at this juncture we should be using Ahadme instead needs their head testing, IMO. Sadly he’s under a long contract so we’ve got lots of time to worry about boosting his morale.

Thought Edun was really solid when we played Posh. Did a good job of keeping Small quiet

The official L1 team of the week where they’ve weirdly shoehorned in a 3-5-2, put TC at left wing back and left out Edun to put Leaburn up front.

who did the assist for Miles's goal, I think it was Small but not sure
    Ramsey I think
Definitely Ramsay. The highlights clipped the build up unfortunately, as I think Ramsay had to battle to get into the position to play the pass.

He won the ball in the first place with a superbly timed tackle.
    That could be his epitaph

if you make that bet and it hits, you won’t be around to count your losses.

That's because we've not needed an extra striker on the pitch, and instead just did like for like (ish) changes Miles and Kanu for Godden and TC, and Gilbert for Berry in attacking midfield.

If Ahadme had been on the bench, then he still wouldn't have come on anyway.

BUT if it had been 0-0 or we'd been losing, and we needed a goal, then we might have gone direct and sent Chuks on as well. I can't see a situation where Ahadme would be a better option than Chuks for the last 10 minutes.

A manager would want different options off the bench to react according to the game. Chuks gives a different option that we have not needed so much recently but we may do in a future game.

Agreed. It is great that Chuks hasn't come off the bench recently because we have been winning and he hasn't been needed. But if we are 1-0 down with 15 minutes to go, there is no other player in league one that I would want to bring on. He is there for that one specific role and with 7 subs, that is absolutely fine by me.

You ask a league 1 cb which player would they rather face with 15 to go when defending a lead Aneke or Ahadme, I am pretty sure most would say Ahadme.

The annoying thing is that he was our “marquee” signing this summer, which we’ll fail to recoup most of that expenditure.

I still have hope that Ahadme comes good, but we’re nearly in March and I still can’t see a single thing he’s good at. If we get promoted and he’s still with us next season, something has seriously gone wrong.

Yea I’ve still got hope he comes good. We’re playing different and better football than when he was in the team at the beginning of the season. If he was in the team now I wouldn’t be suprised if he looked improved, just as the whole team do! Leaburn and Godden will be tough to replace in their current form though.
guess he just needs to wait for his moment and take it.

I thought that odd too. I can understand them realising that we prefer kicking towards the Covered End second half but the keeper had the sun in his eyes and for some reason didn’t have a cap. Plus wouldn’t you rather attack your own supporters second half too?
I assumed it was because of our late goals record, tactic perhaps to grind out a nil nil and hold out at the death.
