Come on Powell, show the boys a video of how the Cards won the Series.
Better to show them videos of how the Big Red Machine used to grind out its victories in the 1970s.

Any traditionalists here will know that opening day wasn't until today in Cincinnati.

Yeah but they made hard work of that, 5 and a half hours in the end, I decided to stick with it by the time it got to the 12th. Any Indians fans that stuck around for that must have been a bit miffed

That's all right he's got a 10 year contract to get it right ;)

    For what purpose?

A definitive guide on how to imbue human growth hormone?

If that's not what you've meant, would it be as a motivational reminder to the boys that if they fall out of the top two, even a club like Stevenage could win promotion?

Then again, there are some clubs that are so rank that they'll never win promotion.....I'm sure there are some parallels among the minnows and has-beens of MLB. I've heard there's one baseball team that's so excruciatingly painful and pointless to watch that its fans occasionally take over in the outfield. :o)
  • My Rays boys sweep the Yankees over the weekend! Easy, Easy, Easy.....
Carlos Pena back home where he belongs 2HRs 7RBIs in the series....lovely

Rays at the Tigers today, Rookie Matt Moore on the mound for the Rays. Both teams start the season 3-0

Amazingly the Dodgers are 3 - 1 after 4 games, only 158 more to go!

I heard Powell was going to show the team a film of the Cubs winning the world series but it seems moving pictures hadn't been invented that far back.

Great start for the Cards but typically the one game on UK TV at a reasonable time they lost.

Good to see a few of the traditionally weaker teams getting off to good starts, could be an interesting season.

Just stumbled onto this thread. Read through a few posts and decided you are all talking gibberish.

I will leave now as I seem unable to get excited by American Rounders.

    Bit harsh....true but still harsh.

When we do win the whole thing in the next 5 years it will be one hell of a party in Chicago.

Shouldn't have watched the Cubs game last night, Dempster pitched 8 excellent innings Cubs up 3-0 then bring in Carlos Marmol for the 9th, within 3 minutes he taken out of the game with Cubs now winning 3-2 where he's walked two, bases are loaded an no outs!!!! They end up losing 4-3 in the 10th inning. God knows why they keep bringing him in, he's the Amdy Faye of pitching.

Why didn't they just hand Dempster the reins for a complete game and a shutout?

God knows, he was quite comfortable, the coaches seem obsessed with making sure pitchers don't go over a certain amount of pitches. Cubs coaches have done this a few times this season when in the lead and ended up losing.
