Postponement certainly increases the pitching options. That said at this stage given the stakes it'll be all in anyway, so possibility of regular starters coming out of bullpen as relief pitchers etc. Yankees did that with Sabathia in their final game.
Lets hope the Cards/Tony La Russa handle their bullpen a little better tonight!!! Hope the they win though, as it'll set up a nice Friday evening finale! Apparently they've won 4 world series from 3-2 down..........
Would say that was one of the best games I've ever seen. It had everything. Great for David Freese to hit the 11th inning walk off home run after earlier dropping a very routine catch (game was full of incredible errors). Done in now, stayed up to 2:30 after watching all the post game interviews. Cards spirit is just amazing, 10.5 games down end of August, they just don't know when they are beat. Wonder if Tony La Russa fancies spending his off season in SE7?!
Really looking fwd to game 7, at least its Friday. Carpenter probably starts for cards and Texas have a few injury worries. Don't know how Texas can pick themselves up after last nights game. Have a feeling tonight will be an anti climax.
Yep. That game 6 was something else. For anyone who hasn't really got into baseball but is thinking about it, I'd watch the last 4 innings or so. Exciting stuff.
Anyone watching right now? I've been out on the beer the last 3 nights but trying so hard to stay up for this. Would like the Cards to win after their never say die attitude but I think it would also bring a smile to my face if after being down in this game the Rangers came back to snatch it. Very exciting stuff here.
What an unbelievable World Series win for the Cards. 10.5 games back on 25 August. Beating the best team in the NL (probably in MLB) in Philly and rivals the Brewers in Milwaukee and then going to the wire to beat the formidable Rangers, having been down to their last strike and recovering from 2 run deficit in both 9th and 10th innings in Game 6. HOLY COW!!
Real hard luck for the incredibly guttsy Napoli who didn't deserve to be on the losing side but what a performance by the Cards. Crazy errors by almost everyone in the line-up, including La Russa, but some amazing clutch performances. So many key contributors but for me Molina's ability behind the plate not only to marshal the pitchers but particularly to shut down the Rangers' runners was absolutely crucial throughout the series.
WOW.
Oh......................and Albert to the Cubs?.................LOL
Cards' manager Tony La Russa retires after a 33 year managerial career. Third winningmost manager in MLB history. Going out on a great high. Irreplaceable.
Not normally into American sports, but when someone mentioned the FA Cup programme on ESPN last night I switched over and after that there was a film about the world series and all I can say is "wow", how and why did I not watch this, it was fantastic.
I was glued to my seat after watching the hat trick by Pujols and then that crazy 6th game!
And the final game was just as thrilling!
I think I may be watching a bit more in the future
Flush, relocated and renamed Miami Marlins have reportedly offered Pujols $200m+ over 10 years, more than the Cards are thought to have offered to date and a longer deal than most would consider sane for a 31 year old. They've already signed free agents Jose Reyes (ex-Mets for $100m+ over 6 years) and closer Heath Bell. However, they are so far refusing Albert a no-trade clause so still some hope that he'll re-sign for the Redbirds.
Gossip from my other Cardinal supporting friend who has contacts out there is that Albert has signed - for the Cards.
Prince Fielder to Miami.
What? Nobody wants to sign for the Cubs? Surely not ;o)
Seems a strange choice of manager but how hard can managing the world champions be?
Turning down experienced guys like Francona for one of their own with no managerial experience is a bit of a concern but Matheny's said to be a very popular choice in the Clubhouse. He was a top quality catcher and they often make good managers and Dave Duncan gave it a thumbs up. Bit like the Anfield Boot Room though.

You only sing when you're winning.
I can't imagine signing Pujols for the privilege of paying him for the championships he won in St. Louis.
You can have your piddling little trophy (the Yankees don't have room, even in the new stadium and Tampa, for all of them).
Me, I'll always have a ninety-degree July day spent at a playground at Nationals Park (you don't have playgrounds in your stadiums? How about Build-A-Bears? No? Bumper boats?) without a single sight line to the field, listening to the greatest comeback that no one will ever, ever care about as the might Cubs staved off a four-game sweep at the hands of the unstoppable Washington Nationals.
Won't be the Cards, they'll put the evergreen Lance Berkman at first base and use the money to strengthen elsewhere.
It's said that the Cubs, Mariners and Orioles are the 3 most interested. Hmm, you want the Yankees, you'd settle for the Marlins, you get the Cubs.....ouch
Apart from Fielder, CJ Wilson, Rollins and Madsen (.. and possibly the Japanese guy Darvish) who else is worth looking out for from the available Free Agents ?
With Reyes, Bell, Buehrle (Marlins) and Pujols (Angels) signed up, Fielder and Wilson are the biggest names left. Thought likely that Rollins will re-sign for the Phils. WIlson looks like heading to Miami or the Angels (if they can afford him after pushing the boat out for Albert).
Was just reading the mlb.com story about the marlins making a large offer to Wilson when they updated to Pujols story and added Wilson's name ?!?
I'm not that up to date with either the Angels and Marlins strength in depth so does this put them way ahead of the pack or just in the same "favourites" as the likes of the Rangers, Cards, Phillies, Brewers, Yankees etc

Game 6 postponed 24 hours because of forecast rain.
Game 7, if necessary, will be a day later which opens the possibility of Carpenter pitching on 3 days rest if the Cards can take it all the way.

but the momentum is with us and we are going to win the series.

OMG...that was one nutty game of baseball. Still can't believe what I've just watched.
Carpenter on the mound for the decider.
GO CARDS!!!!!!

Bobby Valentine - new manager of the Red Sox. Hoooooooolllyy cowww.
I still cannot believe the Braves let the cards beat them to the wild card. How the hell do you keep losing to teams like fecking Washington.

It seems they can. Wilson joins the Angels.
So long and thanks for all the hits.
