Reo-Coker to sign?

With all due respect Chrissy\\\Army I sincerely hope this is the case, if the money is not available then so be it that makes good business sense.Chrissy\\\'s Army!! said:
I agree with what you are saying, problem is I don't think Jiminez cares. I get the impression he is a very self centred guy who is only in it for himself. If he decides there is no money available, he won't be swayed. Probably to the detriment of our great club!! Just my view of courseFlash_Harry said:Perhaps Powell is sending the owners a message: 'I've got a prem quality player on the hook, he's part of the plan to keep the club up and protect your investment, front up with the funds before he loses interest.'
If we start putting the club into debt to sign the likes of Nigel Reo Coker we will be back sharing Selhurst Park before we know it0 -
"What would be much worse for the fortunes of the club would be if he OK'd a transfer when there wasn't the money available"
I would argue that relegation would be the worst thing for us. We cannot function as a league 1 club - that was made clear when Slater et al came on board. And as such, if they dont fund new players, they are obviously more confident than us that the current midfield can hack it.0 -
Is he the majority owner though???? Nobody knows!!Rob62 said:

Charlton Athletic Football Company Ltd is owned by Baton 2010 Ltd, which is owned by CAFC Holdings Limited (90 per cent) and Richard Murray (10 per cent).
CAFC Holdings Limited is in turn owned by Tony Jimenez (47.6 per cent) and Michael Slater (23 per cent) plus minority shareholders with less than 10 per cent.0 -
Sorry I meant to say that is what the web site shows today0

I honestly believe that even if we don't sign a single player between now and the end of the season that we will stay up reasonably comfortably. Risking money you don't have to try and prevent relegation is a risk that has led us to where we are now, and not one that we should take.DamoNorthStand said:"What would be much worse for the fortunes of the club would be if he OK'd a transfer when there wasn't the money available"

I know what is written.....Doesn't mean he was the money man, though he probably is nowadays which in itself is worrying. Doesn't matter. No point going over old ground again. Let's move on otherwise we get into another pointless debate (which I am aware I started & now wish I hadn't)eaststandmike said:Charlton Athletic Football Company Ltd is owned by Baton 2010 Ltd, which is owned by CAFC Holdings Limited (90 per cent) and Richard Murray (10 per cent).

I agree, this isn't the thread for a discussion about who really owns the club.
What is clear is that if whoever owns the club decides the money isn't there, whilst no doubt frustrating for the management and fans, it is essential that the club does not spend money it doesn't have.
We have good players who can compete in this division. We've had a slightly bad start to the season but advocating committing money we don't have on players like NRC is not the answer. If we have the money to sign him and he does join then great. But if we can't afford him then I would much rather flounder about around the bottom half of the table safe in the knowledge that we aren't risking the clubs future on short term solutions.

So what if we were to throw money at signings AND get relegated?DamoNorthStand said:"What would be much worse for the fortunes of the club would be if he OK'd a transfer when there wasn't the money available"

Lol, fair play but the question you asked was "Is he the majority owner though???? Nobody knows!!" not "who is the money man"Chrissy\\\'s Army!! said:

You would have them signed on a one year contract like Fuller I presumeThe Red Robin said:

You think signing Fuller on a one year deal will be cheap? Sure there's no transfer fee, but the wages will add up to a significant investment.0
-
But we still would have lost money on their wages in the meantime.Bubble said:

i think this squad will stay up. I said at the start of the season I'll be happy with just staying up this year. Ideas of playoffs are completely unrealistic. We are mid-table at best.0 -
bring in the youth!!!!!!!!0

My point now, which I am making badly, is that Jiminez's attitude, stubbornness & ego could be our problem, rather then our solution!!0 -

Character assasination against a man that doesn't even speak.
Harsh.

Getting back to NRC.
CP statement saves face for everyone. NRC isn't seen as being on trial as only keeping fit and if he doesn't sign then we never expected to sign him and he hasn't been rejected by CAFC.
