England v India Test Series

Shocking, a complete mental collapse. To me this says more about the coaching staff and Peter Moores than Cook.1
-
Abysmal.
Cook (or anybody) can only captain what they've got. If your senior bowlers only make the oppo play at 1 ball in 2 or thereabouts taking wickets becomes harder. The senior batsmen (Cook included) have let the team down badly too. A youngster or the tail have rescued us or nearly rescued us so far in these two series. Today the luck just ran out.
Root and Ali did so well this morning to regain some of the initiative the senior batsmen let go. All that hard work has been well and truly thrown away now though.1 -
Only 110 left. Come on the quicks.1

"It's just like watching Brazil!"
The Brazilian team that fell apart against Germany that is...0 -
Well ... I've just arrived ............6

Great three minutes. 6 pound a minute! Beautiful.8
-
At least you'll get to hear Cook talking about "taking the positives" before "moving on"3
-
Absolute surrender. This has gone on too long, changes need to be made starting with the captain.0
-
A run out with nearly two sessions and 99 runs needed!
Yes we were destined to lose this almost certainly but don't roll over to have your tummy tickled quite so blatantly!
It's the England National X1 not a local under 11 X1!

Yay can't wait!!
Must remember to check the score before I walk into a cricket ground on day 5. Idiot.1 - Sponsored links:

if a club cricket team was out playing those shots there would be questions asked ....a very poor effort from England0
-
I really ought to start betting on things. I thought with Moeen and Root we could pull something off, but when Moeen went last ball before lunch I thought "collapse pending".
We did alright until we came back on the pitch after lunch I suppose....what did they have to eat anyway, hallucinogenics?!!!0 -
Or you'd suspect dodgy bookmakers...lolwray said:if a club cricket team was out playing those shots there would be questions asked ....a very poor effort from England

Fair play to Peter Moores in that interview after the match. He didn't dodge any questions & answered honestly. I reckon there will be at least a couple of changes for the 3rd test0
-
I thought Nasser Hussain hit the nail on the head re Cook. Asking the question would we miss Cook if he wasn't there. His captaincy-no, His Batting-No. Michael Vaughan reckons we should bring in Eoin Morgan to Captain the side and bat at number six.I don't know who would open.0

Won't matter who opens on recent performances they'll be out before lunch as usual :-0dickplumb said:I thought Nasser Hussain hit the nail on the head re Cook. Not sure about either of Morgan or Buttler in the longer form of the game.
One day stuff a different story of course.1 -
England also need to decide whether Moeen is a main spinner or not, as at the moment he seems to be treated like a Paul Collingwood/Michael Clarke type bowler, someone you bring on for a few overs to rest the quicks, rather than a key part of the attack. You could never imagine him bowling for a whole session.0

Lyth of Yorkshire is an opener who has scored well in four day cricket.
If Cook is to be dropped then I'd seriously consider giving him a go.0 -
This might be a bit left field but I'd like to see Alex Hales open. I know he's a T20/1 day specialist but England's test top 3 of Cook, Robson & Ballance are all slow, defensive players. I'd like to see England give Hales licence to go in at the start of the innings & smack it about a bit in the way that Trescothick used to1

That's how Lyth plays.Chrissy\\\'s Army!! said:This might be a bit left field but I'd like to see Alex Hales open. Hales is having a good season and is certainly dangerous when he gets going. Curiously, both he and Trescothick failed to get first class tons last season though.Chrissy\\\'s Army!! said:This might be a bit left field but I'd like to see Alex Hales open. Was never a fan of trescothick until he wasn't there anymore.2
-
Need Cook to get the tom tits before Sunday , and Stokes to get dropped for Jordan and then we might be somewhere down the road towards having an almost competitive side.0

Could do with a couple of others following suitNomadicAddick said:Prior will not play anymore international cricket this summer, just been announced.

Such a difficult one, this, Cook needs to quit as captain and go away to work in his form, but there are so few other options.0
