Igor...to Bolton?!

I suggest there were 2 reasons why they didn't renew our VIP scheme.oohaahmortimer said:Freak show of a club
I can recall texting mates " the best striker outside the Prem has just scored for us" when Igor flew out of the blocks last season
That player is not about for now and the one we have left would only be sold to someone willing to punt on his fitness returning
Well why don't we punt on the fitness for this potentially top top striker rather than mincing around with 3 shitty lightweight sponge foot nobody's from someone else's reserve team
Oh to make some savings
What was the reason that they didn't want to renew the 5 year season ticket patron thingy ?????
1 They don't need the money, because RD is a six figure multi millionaire. It's just that he wants to spend as little of it as possible on Charlton, in order to achieve his footballing ambition of breaking even.
2 VIP's in the past have had a right to a meeting with the board and been able to ask searching questions.
Searching questions are now frowned upon and are certainly not to be encouraged through these sort of forums.12 -
Wrong wrong wrong, awful decision to let him out on loan at all, let alone to a championship rival3
-
I would be happy off loading him, he looks seriously overweight, and unfit! Get rid of a few more youngsters out on loan, i.e. Holmes Dennis or Charles-Cook etc.
Bring back Yann would be ideal, I know AFCB have lost Wilson, but realistically he is not in their plans and is one of the most underrated players ive seen at Championship level, and obviously a Charlton god !0 -
Which is why we can't just "off load him"tgarrat1 said:I would be happy off loading him, he looks seriously overweight, and unfit!

Wouldn't be fussed if he did leave at all. He is a long way off what he was at the start of last season, and has been for near enough a year. Whilst he was scoring goals at the beginning of last season, he was absolutely busting a gut in every game to do it. Very few can keep up that intensity without getting injured, and therefore I will be surprised if we ever get the old Igor back.
Would much rather us bring in Makienok permanently.0 -
I'm pretty sure Neil Lennon openly admitted he is interested? Case closedHenry Irving said:

Lennon said he was interested but Igor is still here.
Case very much still open2 -
So,we are struggling to score goals, vetokele gets fit then goes to a championship side and will probably then score goals for bolton or whoever, I don't understand the logic!2
-
Well I've just worked out that he has scored 3 goals in his last 31 league appearances, of which 25 he started. So, if he goes off somewhere else and starts scoring goals for fun all over again I'll be surprised.0

But if we can get him off the wage bill and play some school kid, just think of the wages we can save.Ianaddick62 said:So,we are struggling to score goals, vetokele gets fit then goes to a championship side and will probably then score goals for bolton or whoever, I don't understand the logic!
We can get even closer to RD's footballing dream of break even, just like Yeovil7 - Sponsored links:

What we want is an unfit, but injury free Igor to go somewhere on loan, preferably not a rival, get himself fit, them come back and score lots of goals for us. There's no point waiting for him to get fit first, then sending him to a direct rival!2
-
Sorry if already mentioned, but what I don't get, is loaning him out to a club who is lower than us. If he scores goals for them and we get relegated below them, where is the money saving, surely false economy?1
-
No better injury record with us so far though.cafctom said:Wouldn't be fussed if he did leave at all. If the manager has never seen him at his best then I would have thought he would be wise to ask his Chief Scout his opinion....oh!Vincenzo said:It's no doubt true that GL has not seen the best of him. Nothing that would make him pick him in the XI since he's been here.

I agree it makes no sense at all, so it makes it very likely to happen.ross1 said:Sorry if already mentioned, but what I don't get, is loaning him out to a club who is lower than us. If he scores goals for them and we get relegated below them, where is the money saving, surely false economy?

At the moment, I don't even have any faith in him to ever get fit again he looks that off the pace. IMO he just looks done here. Which is a problem because we prob can't get rid, and we've got a crock player under contract3
-
No point selling him at the moment as his value will be low. Give him a chance to regain fitness.1

if this regime loans Igor to Bolton, it will confirm they haven't a scooby. get him fit and motivated FFS. that's what a manager/coaching staff/medical team does!14

Any chance people could only comment on this thread if it actually goes through? I keep seeing new posts, so click the thread to find nothing has happened.0

This thread is not just about if or when he goes. It is about how such a ridiculous state of affairs could even come about.JaShea99 said:Any chance people could only comment on this thread if it actually goes through? I keep seeing new posts, so click the thread to find nothing has happened.

I wouldn't call it ridiculous. According to Ketts Igor's relationship with Luzon is not good. He has picked up lots of injuries. He has scored something like 3 goals in thirty. He is one of the highest earners. It would be ridiculous if they moved him on and didn't replace him. We are already short of strikers, but Igor has contributed very little since the beginning of last season.PragueAddick said:

When I say replace him I don't mean with an Everton youngster.

Sorry but why is it ridiculous we are thinking of loaning him out?
Since he was put through clean on goal in the last minute against Cardiff last Christmas - his shot nearly clearing the North Stand - he has hardly played one good game for us. OK, I know he was injured but the fact he has been a passenger in most games is sadly the truth.
This season he is a pale shadow of the player he was at the start of last season. No-one can deny that. I don't know whether his problems now still relate to injuries, or whether they are mentally related or whether he simply doesn't like Luzon. But how long can you carry a player - particularly one on high wages - until he is better? You can't do it indefinitely.
IV probably earns more in a month than many of us do in a year. Good luck to him for that but frankly if you are on those sort of wages - particularly at a club like Charlton - you need to produce. If for whatever reason he can't (or is it won't) do it, then sorry but he needs to be moved on.
I've seen nothing this season to convince me he can re-find his old form. So as far as I'm concerned, thanks for the memories Igor but it's probably best for all concerned we go our different ways.1 -
Because according to the club he's been suffering from an achilles injury which has affected his form. Either Neil Lennon wants to take an injured player on loan, with our blessing, or the club has been economical with the truth.Fortune 82nd Minute said:Sorry but why is it ridiculous we are thinking of loaning him out?

Amazed at how quickly we seem to write players off here these days.3

He reminds me of Torres at Chelsea, eventually you have to let him go on loan, or get him off the wage bill. He's had enough chances and enough time to get fit and firing on all cylinders0
