Just had a look at cafcpicks, looks more like he was talking about Mourinho than us.

No credible external candidate would take it until all their other possible options have been exhausted so the regime have two options.

    1. Continue dithering until week before season starts and accept the candidate no-one else in the world wants.
    2. Look decisive, appease the fan base and appoint someone already on the payroll, so the real cost is zero.

I hope he has the sense not to take it but I am putting my money on Jacko.

Imagine @colin1961 reaction if it's Johnnie Jackson.

I really hope it's him now!!

He would probably say it is a great appointment as KM and Roly have seen his legs have gone, but noted his leadership skills.

Adkins and one other person down to shortlist.

I can confirm this is correct.

It will either be Adkins or it will be someone else.

Ketts saying he expected it to be announced tuesday but as we have seen with wilder nothing is guaranteed but he expects us to probably name someone today!

    I reckon Adkins personally.

I reckon Slade. Worked under a hands on owner at Cardiff and may want to move back to London after working at Orient.
What a terrible appointment if it is him.
Would prefer Adkins or Steve Clarke

I have no doubt Slade would jump at the chance to manage us, even in our current mess he would see this as a great opportunity. Moving back to London though I remember when he managed Orient he had one of those flats in the corner of the ground as part of his contract as he could not afford to move his family down South

I cast my mind back to a home game against Cardiff under Peeters - we were behind and down to 10 men. Peeters decided to risk three at the back and go on the attack, hoping Slade was inept enough not to respond. This is an issue with a lot of rubbish managers - when a manager does what Peeters did, you have to go attacking to exploit the weakness, but you have a lead to protect. The cowardly and tactically inept don't respond. Of course Peeters was daring Slade to respond and he didn't. Rubbish manager, but maybe a good match for a rubbish owner.

I hear its Johnnie Jackson... the reason its taking so long is the fact he's arguing for Chris Powell to be his Assistant Manager and for the club to revolutionise the two roles... i.e. at Charlton, the Manager does as the Assistant tells him ;)

I think Slade is being brought in to steady the ship as it were, if he is coming in of course.
Personally i would prefer Adkins as he has achieved a lot more and could work wonders with our academy, JJ maybe taking a spot on the coaching side would be great! Future manager right there!

Isnt Slade still employed by Cardiff so if thats the case we'd still need to approach Cardiff and ask for their permission meaning it would probably get out into the Media (i.e. I know we had to ask for Leicester's permission to speak with Chris Powell).

i.e. If the new Manager isnt employed or is with the club we can instantly make them sign an NDA (when we first held talks with them) to keep it quiet until the club wish to avoid further embarassment

It's Jackson. It would have been announced sooner but Katrien thought she had to wait for his work visa to come through.

Whoever it is they will get my backing, although I expect to be thoroughly underwhelmed, I want Charlton to be successful on and off the pitch (which means the idiots selling up).

But Ketts has doomed us all to waiting on the announcement now.

Unless this is crafted and presented brilliantly then any new manager will be tainted by being the regime's poodle.
Be interesting to see how the new person copes with the early season abandoned home matches and subsequent points deductions.

Did we draw that 1-1, backing up your point? If not and we lost then he chose the right path - but I think its the former.

Has Warnock taken a job yet? Warnock with JJ as his number 2 for a couple of seasons.

Slade is probably one of the least inspiring candidates we have been linked with, and indeed compared to many of the other managers has the least impressive CV. He would not be my pick.

That being said, he is a step above the shite this lot have employed in the past, and maybe with some decent signings we at least may begin to resemble a decent (on the pitch) football team again.

Slade and Jacko not even on there, unless I'm being a technological cockwomble which can never be ruled out.

Friday before bank holiday + possible announcement + start of 2nd test + "good lunch" = not a whole lot of work coming out of me today

Yeah that was the one where Gudmundsson did a sliding tackle on their player...

Got back up with the ball just outside the penalty area and slammed it straight into the back of the net

Was also where Harriott got himself sent off for a sily straight Red-Card
