Jokingly I did respond to Tracey Leaburn's tweet by suggesting that she was dropping of Nicky Ajose, a comment she has since "liked"
I've a new fwend!!
She also included the hashtag: "positive"
I think maybe the club staff are under orders to be super nice now? and it is obviously working (on you)0 -
And over night bikey became a liability and at that point morro had goneTaxi_Lad said:
I make Colin right on all counts! TBH was for half a season one of the best CBs we've ever had, Bikey scared strikers into letting him take the ball with ease and Bauer was class until his injury. Tex was very solid but probably on a par with Morro.Todds_right_hook said:

Keep a player who asked to go out on loan to get game play .. he was 4th choice, Tal Ben H and Bikey were superb and let's not forget the long unbeaten run at the start of any season , he played one game against Birmingham in that run and guess who made the mistake for there goal to make it 1-1 ..... An average centre half no near as good as Bauer or Jorge T or at the time TBH, Bikey or GomazJohnnyH2 said:
The only issue was we let him go on a free. Would have been nice to keep him as cover but he wanted to play and you can't blame him for that
A question.....who out of bikey, tbh, tex and Bauer plays at the highest domestic level?2 -
You mean I dont (lip wobbles) have a new fwend?SpicedAddick said:

It is but a lot of us on here said it was a bad decision at the time. And we didn't know it was a free transfer then.Taxi_Lad said:

But we bought Nabby Sarr to replace him for 1.4m euros so it's OK.
What Morrison shows is the total lack of any long term planning and Roland's obsession with head count.
We'd give Morro a new long term deal in the summer, got rid because Peeters didn't rate him, sacked Peeters and gave away Morrison in around 8 months.
The next summer we lost/got rid of TBH, Bikey and Gomez, loaned out Lennon and had to play Diarra at CH as Sarr was so poor.
Meanwhile Morrison continued to be the solid, reliable, suited to Championship football player that he'd always been. But that doesn't come up on the Belgium scouts lap top and Roland wasn't going to pay big wages for a player who wasn't in the first team so he had to be moved on. Reserves? What are? Injuries? We have some kids don't we.
No, not hindsight, lack of any foresight19 -
Perhaps having a decent midfield at Birmingham has helped Morrison improve.1

many thanks me old mucker ((:>) .. alas, it's not an original .. the original (way back in the 70s) was along the lines of .. 'how did it go when you used the dustbins to dribble round in practice' .. answer: 'all right but it ended up with the dustbins winning 6-0' ..ShootersHillGuru said:1 - Sponsored links:

Not saying Morro wasn't/isn't decent but clubs can only have so many "decent" players for the same position0

Birmingham were 23rd when he signed for them. They had 11 points from their opening 14 games and had just lost 8-0 at home.Crusty54 said:Perhaps having a decent midfield at Birmingham has helped Morrison improve.
They finished 10th, with 63 points from their 46.
I would suggest he improved them.5 -
Quite possible or was it the good manager who had who recognised his abilities and utilised them.Crusty54 said:Perhaps having a decent midfield at Birmingham has helped Morrison improve.
A young manager, former Charlton player and captain, who was managing at a club, at that time, in a lower division in England when Birmingham took him on.1 -
And he wasn't our 4th choice centre back. He was ahead of Gomez at the time who was seen as the back up right back.
Also, at the time Morrison was loaned to Birmingham, Gomez was injured and hadn't played for a month since the win at Norwich. He didn't feature in the match day squad for a couple of weeks after Morrison left.
They released him (to clear his wages) and signed Oguchi Onyewu as a cheap replacement.6 -
Thanks, I'd forgotten Onyewu. Which Championship side is he captaining now?Ben18 said:And he wasn't our 4th choice centre back. He was ahead of Gomez at the time who was seen as the back up right back.

Good to see a professional footballer preparing for life after retirement from football with a career at Kwik Fit. Always thinking ahead.Henry Irving said:4 -

Thought we had some rumours on the rumours thread when i saw 34 new posts....ho hum......4

Could be a way of us clearing the other debt? If Roland is serious of keeping CAFC, he could put a LOAD of money in which the club can use to pay off the old debts. Could potentially make an offer as if we were in administration to some of the older investors by offering 60% to see if they take it. This would clear the club of debt which could hold it back if we get promoted. He can spend a load on players that will get us into the premier league the season after next, and all this without falling foul of FFP.AddicksAddict said:
So equity and fake sponsorship are OK but loans aren't?Pico said:The League One financial rules for newly relegated clubs are that player wages can't exceed 75% of turnover. Turnover includes any money put in by the owner as long as it isn't in the form of loans.
Therefore, if an owner wants to buy promotion by keeping or signing high earning players he can do so whereas he couldn't under FFP rules in The Championship.

No, no ....... just people passing time while they check to see if Nicky Ajose has signed.Redvalleyeast said:Thought we had some rumours on the rumours thread when i saw 34 new posts....ho hum......

We are awaiting the "great Ajose". He had better be mustard. I expect at least half a dozen good performances from him before 1) we Charltonise him 2) our medical team fuck him up 3) the Belgians demoralize him... or all three!0

I do find the glorification of Morrison a bit unique, to be honest. Agreed it was short-sighted of the club to ship him out without (apparently even thinking of) getting in a decent replacement, but he was an incredibly limited player...3
-
Yet he holds down a place in a top half of the championship team. How can that be if he is "incredibly limited"?ateamofcorygibbs said:I do find the glorification of Morrison a bit unique, to be honest. Do you think he would be a good playing for us in league 1?
Do you think he would have been a useful player for us last season?
I won't even bother asking if you think he was better than Sarr who we paid a large fee for after giving Morrison away2 -
I think you need at least seven players on the pitch, including a goalkeeper, so just Harriet and Jordan isn't going to work.Showmetheway2gohome said:Keep Harriet and cousins proper charlton sell the others

I think there is some attempted historical revisionism going on here to try and paint Morrisson as very limited. He is a centre back not a creative midfielder. He may never be brilliant passing but that was not his main task. In organising and standing firm in the defence, he was excellent. He also got a few goals as well from corners. Good character as well.ateamofcorygibbs said:I do find the glorification of Morrison a bit unique, to be honest. Nabby Sarr (in the laptop scouts & Duchatelet's head) may be more of a ball playing, mobile central defender that they want, but he turned out to be error prone in his main task, which was defending. Where are Bikey / Ben Haim now ?
Getting rid of Morrisson for nothing without long lasting, decent replacements was a moronic and clueless shortsighted decision by Duchatelet & Meire. A prime example of the total ineptness that has taken place at that club. So it is not helpful to try and rewrite history.
Are there any actual transfer rumours ?
(apart from Nicky Ajose signing at some point soon)7 -
I would also like to add he is Birmingham's captain.Henry Irving said:

Fair enough, but there's a long list of players who've gone on to be much better for other clubs after leaving us. Just being honest and saying I didn't really rate him before he was sold. As to the other questions - when we sold him, I was still (perhaps deludedly) looking up the table, not thinking of us fighting in consecutive relegation battles before dropping down to league 1. We started that season with a decent run of results, and Bikey and TBH were looking good (though obviously none of it lasted).Henry Irving said:

I think he would be of use in league 1, but we got rid of him nearly two years ago! Bauer and Tex are good if we can keep them (dunno how likely). Sarr is obviously ridiculous. Everyone involved in running the club is ridiculous. As I said, it's the recruitment of replacements rather than letting him go in the first place, which I think was (and is) the problem. Not really even having a go at Morro, but I do find it a bit odd him being placed alongside Kermogant, Gomez etc in the players we've let go under the regime...0 -
