Last season. The season before. The Stevens give away. The cheap sell off of kermogant to a team who won promotion to the Prem with him. The insertion of a clown as goalkeeper. Should I go on?WhenIwasLittleBoy said:

Us getting a reasonable fee for Pope has probably lessened the negative thoughtscafc_harry said:Hamer was slagged off for going to Leicester knowing he wouldn't play, Pope is just as bad, if not worse seeing as he does have genuine potential.
He also doesn't have a silly hipster beard0 -
Bauer told us last night that he'll be training again next week. Lennon said he's out for three to four weeks.ShootersHillGuru said:It's at centre back that I'm really concerned. Tex we are told will probably depart. Leaving an injured Bauer who won't have had a pre season. Roger Johnson and An injured Lennon. Seems to me we need two to come in.

5 years ago he was playing for Bury Town and living with his parents.cafc_harry said:
Heaton will likely be playing for another 4-5 years minimum. That'll take Pope up to 28-29 and while that's arguably him prime I wouldn't think that 5 seasons playing 10 games a season will do him much good. The Red Robin said:
It's not worse. Hamer is sitting behind a top class keeper of similar age to himself. Pope is behind a keeper in the final years of his career and will be brought through as his successor.cafc_harry said:Hamer was slagged off for going to Leicester knowing he wouldn't play, Pope is just as bad, if not worse seeing as he does have genuine potential.
5 years from now he'll probably have millions in the bank and be about to play regular premiership football.
I always hear people say "It's such a short career" and "But footballer just want to play football" but he will only need to work until he's 35 and he'll be made for life. Forgive me if I don't lose sleep over it

The speed players are departing will we have a starting 110

I can't believe this many people are naive. Potentially play in a L1 team for a club that is largely in disarray or move to a PL club as a back up for an England squad keeper and hugely increase your earnings. Tough choice that.7

Not history though is it,two years, however we as well as other clubs in the past have given players away cheaply and in the same breath picked up players for peanuts, swings and roundaboutsken_shabby said:

Henderson's move to Forest close to being finalised. Cardiff's Simon Moore is a possible replacement and is available for loan.

Loan it is then. Why bother with any long-term plan? Overhauling the squad every summer has proved to be successful so far.Scoham said:Henderson's move to Forest close to being finalised. Cardiff's Simon Moore is a possible replacement and is available for loan.

So they didnt anticipate Nick Pope going (Fair enough) but who else has gone that they didnt expect... Naby Sarr?1

Watt perhaps, not that he's officially left yet.ForeverAddickted said:So they didnt anticipate Nick Pope going (Fair enough) but who else has gone that they didnt expect... Naby Sarr?

Yeah they weren't planning for departures when they were actively trying to flog half our squad...9

Nah you'd have thought he was always on his way out after Blackburn and Cardiff loans last seasonScoham said:

They just don't know how to arrest the slide. They thought that by bringing in Slade they would appease us and begin planning for a fresh new beginning, except it has happened that way because they don't know where to look for suitable British replacements. The whole transfer policy in the first full summer we had with them at the helm was to use the network. That ultimately failed so the second summer was to buy foreign because it is cheaper. That definitely didn't work as not one of the signings they made featured toward the end apart from Makienok.Clem_Snide said:And so the cycle continues. Players leave without replacements being lined up. Big difference between being interested in and signing.
We all knew most of those gone or leaving were out the door, its just the pathetic cack-handed response that grates.
They told us they've learned from their mistakes. They haven't and its happening again. Only this time they don't have a loan window safety net.
£20 placed on us to get relegated again.
This summer they started on the back foot because we were such a mess and they probably realised they'd be going about it the wrong way, but turning it round is like the old oil tanker analogy. It's going to take time. Time they don't have if they want to hit the ground running. For what its worth, I believe Slade can make us organised and hard to beat, and I think we will achieve mid to lower table. However anything more than that will require an injection of 5/6 good players and more money to be spent. Something I don't think RD is prepared to do given the losses he's already accrued and how the fans perceive him. I have no doubt that in his belligerence, he truly believes he's succumbed to what the fans want by appointing a British manager and buying a few British players. In his head he will tell KM who will tell Slade that you have enough to do the job, get on with it.
Slade being the professional that he is will do what he can, but when I see Jackson starting these friendlies at left wing, a position he could just about manage last time we were in league one back in 2011, that says all you need to know about how clueless this regime is and the utter panic/resignation to their plight6 -
Don't like the idea of a keeper on loan.
Plus surely we've got a few quid now to sign one permanently.
What the hell is the strategy this summer? It looked like there was a plan when Slade and then Novak, Holmes and Ajose arrived.
That's since gone out the window.
And no information on Ajose's injury. Is he a long term absentee or is it just a knock as barely reported?

I can see Burnley looking to sell Heaton (possibly next Summer), with the fee being increased by the new deal...cafc_harry said:Tom Heaton just signed a new 4 year deal at Burnley. Not sure when Pope expects to get a look in, what a waste.
He could well be England's no 1 sooner rather than later.1 -

Unless Lionel Messi or Neymar are prepared to swap Barcelona for Nottingham Forest, the Championship club will stay patient in the transfer market, says boss Philippe Montanier.
I doubt that. Currently he's 4th choice behind Hart, Forster and Butland. If Ben Foster had been fit enough to go to the Euros, he might have been ahead of Heaton as wellNornIrishAddick said:

Ajose injury is:
his foot
his heel
his groin
his knee
dont really matter where it is does it ? lost for the duration0 -
Really don't understand players of that age going to a club to sit on the bench just for the moneyForeverAddickted said:Trouble is... Pope up until this season wasnt getting game time in the Championship so had to drop to League Two (twice) to play any matches, finally this season he managed to play in the Championship far more often than I bet even he expected
Now despite relegation (to a League which is still higher than anything he's ever regularly played at before) he's decided to jump up above the Championship into a League he wont play at for another good couple of years,
I am disappointed to an extent as I thought he was a Footballer who'd want to play rather than sit on the bench1 -
I agree, although Scott Carson won player of the year while on loan.Valley11 said:Don't like the idea of a keeper on loan.

Each person takes it in turns to pull a piece of the puzzle out of the block before placing a new piece precariously at the top3 -
