Key factors in the fragmentation of the club are an 18 with 3 CBs a LB and no midfielders. But our highly paid CB and a creative mf (Ba) can't get a look in. Nor any U23s. Why? Slade in not picking the best players available to him and is consequentally losing points.
504 loyal loons (FairPlay) turn out for a localish fixture after 5 unbeaten league games Even by our shit numbers shows the absolute apathy and disinterest of our support created by these muppets . Jackson and Solly , shadows of their former selves who should be nowhere near our first team . That was an embarrassing performance , shameful
0% Top two ......... 15% 3rd-6th ......... 48% 7th-12th ......... 35%13th-20th ........ 2% relegation
I've only been to one game this season, and watching that performance didn't convince me that I was missing out, was that the worst performance of the season so far?
Keep that up and will be in the relegation zone for Christmas, and nosediving into league 2.
Would we have won had we had Holmes, Lookman, Magennis and, to an extent, Botaka? Yes, I think so. But we didn't. The reason for that is the repeated failure of the 'SMT' to provide the squad with any semblance of depth outside of the starting 11. Suspensions and injuries will come and we saw how poor we were with just a few players missing today. One of Foley, Crofts and Jackson is more than enough. All three? Heavens above. Bye Bye Lookman in January and bye bye any last scrap of promotion hope. Bye Bye a few more thousand fans next season. The only thing that will solve this mess is a bye bye to Roland, Meire, Driesen, Cajones and Relegation Roger.
Just got home to Norwich after taking bloody half hour to get out of the Outlet Centre car park and a further 20 minutes out of the Swindon traffic!! Shocking game but thanks go to those around me for the dark humour and a few laughs. It eased the pain (although the standard numbness tends to do that now anyway).
My first game in two years after boycotting the club so I was part of the 504 Charlton fans there- I find it sad and baffling how detached I now feel from a club I once would have died for. I cannot think of a single positive to emerge from that performance
We were there today as per usual - something I used to describe as "fortunate" as regards having the time, health and financial ability to do.
Today has changed my mind. In fact, the sympathy of Lifers would be gratefully received.
This was an inept performance of the highest order and following the high scoring defeats we suffered up north last season, is no exaggeration.
Fortunately (haha) today's experience was shared by more than those that made the journey although I believe that Sky, in partnership with Her Madj ensured that hackles were raised in the Home Counties /SE7.
What struck me most of all , as with other clubs we've encountered thus far, was the sheer energy & guts of the Swindon lads ...their determination to win EVERY ball ....and sadly, our capitulation, especially after the soft 1st goal had gone in.
We didn't need any rain to dampen our hopes this time.
Undoubtedly, we missed Big Josh, Lookie & Rickeeee but we shouldn't make excuses. Let's say all 3 had been unable to play through injury. THIS would be our team , end of. So, who's to blame for the lack of depth in this squad ?
with 15 minutes of 2nd half left of this afternoons games we currently sit 15th, 4 points outside relegation zone, 5 points from play offs and 17 points behind Scunthorpe. The spanners are winning 3-0 and have moved up to 9th 1 point off the play offs, and they are our game in hand...oh dear!!
Bristol, milllllll and Bradford are our next three away games. What chance have we got with them if we get heavily beaten against the likes of Swindon.

Some good comedy moments in the stand second half. If I were manager I'd spend a good amount of time emphasising to the players that they wasted the time of the 500 fans there, but, as someone mentioned earlier, are they behind him????
Doesn't appear so. Everything about that performance today suggested the players want him gone. When Solly gives up there's not much hope for the rest.
My thoughts too, Chris.
Hardly straining every sinew for their gaffer which could be due to lack of respect for him and/or his starting line up.
Don't believe I'd ever accuse Solly & JJ of not trying but today they could have been journeymen as opposed to "our own".
Surely, professional players in our squad can see that his methods aren't working & hence, they too are tarred with the brush of failure ? What does that do for their future in the game as well as their fragile egos ?
Rather than affecting them adversely, I wonder whether the "Roland Out" etc. chants reinforce their belief that everything is falling apart at our club , both on & off the pitch and that they welcome the protests as more nails in RD's "coffin".
WHEN we rid this famous football club of this odious regime, we could find the lads throwing a party for the fans !
This is how it will be. Enough wins ground out to keep us in the middle of the table, the occasional performance to give hope, but generally poor tactics and poor performances. In a season or two we will have grown accustomed to it and start getting excited if we break into the top six at any time. Well, those that are left will ...
I don't think any of us, looking at the team selected before the match, thought we would do anything other than struggle.
I know Ba is not a world heater, but he does at least have the sort of pace and athleticism that our midfield lacks. Unless he nicked Russell's lunch, I cannot understand how he has not featured at all this season.
I worry that we are repeating the errors of the past seasons under the regime. On a good day we're one dimensional, and cannot seem to react effectively and quickly to the opposition working us out and countering our "tactics".
I have my doubts that we have ever played our best starting eleven this season, or that we ever will...
When you consider the players we pay not to play for us, there's a lot to be worried about.
Only positive for me was Novak when he dropped into midfield rather than dealing with hopeful punts. He seemed to have a football brain and a bit of creativity. May be useful at top of a diamond.
Yes a lovely ball for Solly who messed it up by pulling it back straight to a Swindon defender! !!
What a ridiculous day. Like an idiot booked our train tickets for a 3pm kick off (who puts charlton games on tv ffs) and got into the ground about half an hour into the game - just in time to see rudd watch the ball roll slowly past him to make it 1-0. Totally abject performance from us. No quality, no effort, no ideas. Could have sat there for six hours watching us punt aimless balls up to our hapless forwards and we still wouldn't have scored. Honestly don't even feel it when the goals go in these days. Ridiculous.
I was one of the Charlton fans there today---Fanny,you have my sympathy as also do our fellow sufferers. Slade is useless, bloody useless. How can he not motivate eleven players to at least put in a shift. Can he not realise that slow-paced play wins no games(unless RD has told him to obey his strict instructions on how best to play). Sideways and backwards--we must be up there with the best of them.Going forwards,mmm--a big problem trying to get the ball within that white wooden boundary. Too many players couldn't have cared less---indicative of what they must feel about the cross-armed Slade who inspires no one.Just walk away Slade and give us the opportunity to appoint a young, hungry manager instead of a self-satisfied,inept,boring,tedious,apology for a manager.

A young hungry manager will not want to go to SE7, unless he wants a squirrel with her hand up his bottom dictating what comes out of his trap.

No manager with half a brain in his head will come anywhere near the club until these owners have gone.
I've only just remembered about our game. That's how much Charlton means to me now. Couldn't give a shit either way. In 2 years I've lost total interest and my kids are growing up to be Southend supporters looking forward to a new stadium.
Genuinely feel sorry for those that care enough to carry on watching and supporting this pile of pants.
Season ticket holder for 25 years and now forget about our games. Well done Rd and KM
"I take full responsibility for that today, I got it wrong with my team selection"
So many bloody options and he chose wrong. Surely Lennon in goal and Rudd in midfield was so bloody obvious.
He had options today. Why not give Aribo a chance? Do you think that was a good starting line up then? Umerah could have started out wide. He could have gone 4-3-3. He could have gone with 3 CB's. But no, he chose 3 midfielder with no pace whatsoever.

And he's started those same 3 together in midfield a number of times already this season. We know, the players know, even Slade knows ....... it doesn't work.

Just watched the goals back on Channel 5: seeing Solly basically strolling back for their third goal is a really worrying sign and, although that was just one part of the poor overall performance it does suggest things aren't right. Although a better phrase may be even less right than we think.....
Another thing that came out of today is that the PR company seemed to use today to portray the fans as the villains in all of this with Sky swallowing all the old rubbish they were fed. Not sure that's the wisest strategy really-even the few supporters that are still bothering to watch the team (me included) have their breaking point and for us to be portrayed as the bad guys by stupid sections of the media as well being subjected to performances like today is bringing that point closer and closer. Do they really want 3000 hardy souls at the Valley next season watching League Two football?
I wonder how different this game could have been if we didn't concede that very unforuntate own goal.
We'd been very poor up till then so little reason to suggest anything different. In the "good old days" I would sometimes hope that conceding would give us the kick up the ass to respond. Those days are long gone....

And, by the way...
Just sell our club.

Of course Brussel got the selection wrong but the shambles of a squad doesn't help.
Embarrassing beyond belief.
Jason Euell would be good with Jacko as assistant
