The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

Well, it's been happening for about a year.
Confident that the EFL will be working on the fit and proper test this week.7 -
Whenever I see 92 new comments...I always struggle to know what that could possibly be about.
Unless the club has been sold....why are there 92 new comments in a short space of time?

well Fanny did say it was being announced next Monday at the POTY, although I believe that was a shameless attempt to sell more tickets.Addickted said:Just heard it's gone to the EFL today for the Appendix 3 approval.
We could be there........

@DOUCHER
Without having to read millions of pages of guff can you please detail what exactly you believe is happening. I keep seeing you say "i'm always right" but I can't see where you have stated anything. It's all a bit Mystic Meg as I have seen it. "The new owner will have two arms and a head" "He will have legs aswell"
Just for once can you put what you know in plain english. No cryptic shit. That's why you get grief on here (though I suspect some of it is deliberate on your part)
I take all comments with a pinch of salt but there are many hundreds of people invested in this thread - all have a common goal and common love of Charlton. We just want to know whats going on but those ITK11 -
Strange post given the news.Dave2l said:Whenever I see 92 new comments...I always struggle to know what that could possibly be about.

I would have thought so.Redrobo said:
Isn’t this the last bit that needs to be done?Addickted said:No idea who the new owner is though, but it would appear they're not the British group.
However, if it has got to this stage, it might be nice to see an announcement today, unless the new owner is Ned Kelly.1 -

can't see why they couldn't announce a deal subject to EFL approval. It's what is normally done, as with Sunderland yesterday.6

Airman - RedHenry - Can you comment?
Thanks Addickted.2 -
I would expect it to be announced as this bit (should) be a formality.Addickted said:

How ironic if it failed the EFL test?10

Here we go again.
I would love the boycotters to be able to return for the playoffs.3 -
Come on sell the club and I wont have this quandary of arguing with myself that buying a £20 kit for the kids is ok because they were £35 , fuck off Charlton conscience5

The ones I feel sorry for are the ones who have seen a sudden jump in the number of posts, open the thread and can't find what everyone is excited about. So they painstakingly read through posts - like this one - and don't find anything that helps. Apart from a cryptic comment like "Appendix 3? Wow - that must mean we're close".
That must be SO frustrating...6 -
Nah, makes about as much sense as the rest of the bullshit we regularly post on here so not much difference to any other threadChizz said:The ones I feel sorry for are the ones who have seen a sudden jump in the number of posts, open the thread and can't find what everyone is excited about. Para 3 is the Fit and proper test, and the claim is that this has applied for.Dave2l said:

If (when) the sale goes through, this is the conversation I imagine having...
Me: Hello, when can I buy two tickets to the play-off semi final home leg, please?
Ticket office: How soon can you get to Rotherham?
Me: Rotherham? No, I want tickets to the home leg.
Ticket office: That's where the end of the queue is.39 - Sponsored links:

Fit and proper tests.
The only times of the year that the EFL manage to organise a piss up in a brewery.

Surely EFL approval is the last piece of the jigsaw put in place before the deal is finalised. If true, I think it's pretty clear evidence there is nothing left to negotiate and the deal is done. Will approval be received before the end of the season though? Are there two contracts prepared - one for League 1 and one for Championship? Regardless, don't see any reason why it cant be announced subject to EFL approval.Chizz said:The ones I feel sorry for are the ones who have seen a sudden jump in the number of posts, open the thread and can't find what everyone is excited about. Would be a massive boost all round for players an fans if announced prior to Saturday with LB named manager.1 -

It is probably like the episode of ‘Yes Prime Minister’ when they are appointing a new manager of the Bank of England. “Seems like a good chap “.carly burn said:Fit and proper tests.
