The club will announce its retained and released list on the 18th May. Doesn't sound like there is any takeover imminent, unless the new management have been involved in making these lists....before even an announcement about who they are??0

Yes......but I’m not sure if it’s the Maynard half or the Brewer half.ForeverAddickted said:How did we sign Maynard-Brewer with the Australian Work Permit issues?
Is he half-English?
Boom....boom!4 -
I'd like to think our scouting team (if there is such at thing at Charlton..) have been identifying some targets, rather than just been sitting on their arses for months on end. Or am I being too optimistic?2

Isnt that the job of that ex-QPR bloke?Eddickted said:I'd like to think our scouting team (if there is such at thing at Charlton..) have been identifying some targets, rather than just been sitting on their arses for months on end. Or am I being too optimistic?

I presume they'll do what they did when Riga resigned... they'll announce the Development Squad released players (as presume that'll be decided between Avory and Euell) whereas any first teamers out of Contract will probably be mentioned as negotiations will begin shortly - Unless of course Kashi has had other offers and has already signed somethingAirman Brown said:

Mowgli has all the latest patches for Championship Manager, so no they haven't been idle.Eddickted said:I'd like to think our scouting team (if there is such at thing at Charlton..) have been identifying some targets, rather than just been sitting on their arses for months on end. I beg to differ. The issue has been a major focus on sports visas for the last year, after Home Office rules changed. Ask any local cricket club if they found it easy to get an overseas player this year and none will tell you it was as straightforward as it used to be..._MrDick said:Don't get too hung up on work permits for young Australian talent. There are 100's of non-international standard Kiwi's, Aussies, Fijians, South Africans playing rugby for money at non-premiership clubs across the country. They haven't had any problems with Visa's

With the most senior person in charge at the club, I expect to see a cheese sandwich signed to play up front, an avocado and basil sandwich goalkeeper signed, and the egg and cress sandwich sold to Sheffield Wednesday.6

I reckon Jackson and Gallen are making the decisions after input from Avory and Euell/Baltacha.2

with Lennon signing a new deal the only senior pro out of contract is Kashi.KINSELLA7 said:The club will announce its retained and released list on the 18th May. Kashi has gone...... said his goodbyes after the second leg of the play off. All the loans are looking elsewhere for next season. Konsa looking to move on. The fringe Squad players (home grown) are waiting to see what happens in the next couple of months; possibilities for some to be involved if a takeover continues to drag is what I have been told. None of the team management or players have heard anything definitive about who's in charge next season, of the club or of the first team.3

I know about an out of contract Tuna and Sweet Corn Sandwich, do you think I should advise them to contact the club.No.1 in South London said:Kashi has gone...... said his goodbyes after the second leg of the play off. Box to box so I understand.0 -
Thought we had bottomed out but unless something happens soon with the takeover I fear a lower level of shitness awaits.No.1 in South London said:Kashi has gone...... said his goodbyes after the second leg of the play off. Why do posters think that someone from the consortium would have spoken to him....one way or the other.Redrobo said:

I suspect the next manager already knows he is coming in and will be identifying his targets.J BLOCK said:Were already well behind other clubs when it comes to transfer targets, we don’t even have a manager. This needs to be completed today.
I think we can deduce that Lee is not going to be our manager or someone from the consortium would surely have spoken to him. Whoever they have decided upon has probably been aware for a while and has been formulating his plans.
They don’t own us and are not in the position to sack him or hire him.
If it was you that expected to take over a football club, what plans would you have put in place since January? Or would you wait until you had everything signed and then worry about it.
Talking to an ex manager about a possible position happens all the time.0 -
I'm more concerned about pre season training and the fitness programmes for the players. 2 summers ago fitness went to pot over the summer due to a lack of senior management6

I’m sure Jackson is on the case on that issue at least.killerandflash said:I'm more concerned about pre season training and the fitness programmes for the players. 2 summers ago fitness went to pot over the summer due to a lack of senior management

Is Jackson contracted to the club as a coach next season then?ShootersHillGuru said:

I hope it's an Australian takeover, simply because their pitch invaders are better quality than, say Shrewsbury's Tango man.
And they remain upside down, which is nice.5 -
I'm guessing Loui has.Henry Irving said:

Australia ranked at 40th so players have to play in 75% of games...Henry Irving said:
I heard a rumour that we might be leaving the EU (although the person who told me was a bit vague on how and what would replace it).Callumcafc said:https://www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/footballer-work-permits/
Which players do need work permits?
Footballers from outside the EU must still obtain a work permit if they wish to play for English football clubs. Every non-EU footballer must successfully apply for a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) with the FA before the Home Office will consider issuing a work permit.
The system has recently been tightened and now only non-EEA players who are internationally established at the highest level, and whose employment will make a significant contribution to the development of their sport at the highest level, are allowed to play in the UK. One of the reasons for the rule change was that only 58% of football players who were given work visas played any top-flight football in their second season.
What are the criteria which will be used?
Until 2015, football players needed to have played in at least 75% of their country’s senior international matches over the previous two years to play in the UK. Eligibility for a GBE now depends on a national team’s FIFA ranking, as follows:
Official FIFA Ranking / Required % of international matches in past 2 yrs
FIFA 1-10 / 30% and above
FIFA 11-20 / 45% and above
FIFA 21-30 / 60% and above
FIFA 31-50 / 75% and above
In the case of players aged 21 or under at the time of application, the period is reduced to one year. The aim is to make it easier for young, outstanding talent to grow their game in the UK.
If a club’s application is rejected, there is an appeals process. The Exceptions Panel is the appeals body which will consider, on a points based system, the player’s experience and value before deciding whether the player can join the club, regardless of their failed application. A stricter assessment of relevant objective criteria will now be applied in an appeal.
Has anyone got Mark Fish's phone number?0 -
I hope so, but it's a massive step up from being a player/coach to organising training and dietary programmes for 20 professional footballersShootersHillGuru said:

Sports science would be the drivers in this.
