Hope it's Reeves or Ajose, more likely to be either Bauer or Aribo IMO. I don't think a club with take a punt on Dijksteel or Fosu just yet.0

He is a great defensive forward, but he has no anticipation, doesn't really hold the ball up and can't finishThemightyath2 said:

It won’t be Reeves. Saw him down at David Lloyd in the week and he could hardly walk without his protective boot. He said he’d be training in a couple of weeks but I can’t see it myselfcafcfan1990 said:Hope it's Reeves or Ajose, more likely to be either Bauer or Aribo IMO. All our managers in the last few years have seemed convinced they would sign more players by the end of the window and that more would come in than leave. How did that go again?9
-
We are in the most pathetic position at the start of a season yet, absolute shambles, and if anyone thinks this unbeaten preseason is anything to go you’re simply delusional, Sunderland will wallop us.
The injury list is not bad luck it’s because we sign the ones no one wants because they’re injury prone, Rohan Ince now getting everyone’s hopes up is comical he will be injured again before you know it. Fosu injury and now Taylor a doubt for start of season has done it for me I really couldn’t care now.
Flag away if you must but Roland I hope you catch something terminal.8 -
The fee is irrelevant, it all goes to Roland.Swisdom said:Josh who everyone says is crap and won’t be missed? Sold for more than we paid, even though he’s crap.
Trust me we will miss him2 -
Doubt JFC or Page would've played today if he was being sold. I reckon it's Ajose.Chef_addick said:The fact Bowyer says it's someone we wouldn't expect to be sold I very much doubt it's Ajose/Bauer/Start.
I'll take a guess at JFC or Page.0 -
We've already lost so many so unless he's signing 30 this week he's chatting shitejdsd42 said:Funny statement by boywer

“We might lose one more, probably not anyone that anyone is thinking but I think we’ll be bringing in a lot more than we’ll be losing.”
Strange statement if though one

Could it be Mark Marshall? Was talk about him going wasn't there but all quiet now.1

“Tariq [Fosu] is actually going to be out up to six weeks, so he’s got more chance of winning the lottery tonight than playing next Saturday.
“Igor [Vetokele] is another six weeks away while Billy Clarke and Ben Reeves are probably slightly more. They’re all long-terms.
“[Anfernee] Djiksteel is still on antibiotics but is on the mend.0 -
Maybe some premiership loan youngsters in. I am betting Bauer to leave. A few more injuries & the team is toast.Scoham said:Bowyer sounds confident the squad will be improved.

I know there's a lot of doom and gloom around, but I think LB (aided by Gallen) is doing a great job at the moment. Seems to be going under the radar a bit.15

“We have to bring a keeper in to have competition for Dill. You have to have healthy competition in every position and goalkeeping is no different. Dill knows that, we’ve spoken to him this week. We need a centre-half, a right-sided centre half, we’ve only got Pat (Bauer) in the building. Maybe another midfielder and maybe another striker.”0

I’ll only bring in people if it is going to make us better. I will only recommend someone to the owner that is going to make us better."
“We’re picky, because the type of players we want there aren’t many out there. Like I’ve said before if I can’t get the exact type of player that I want I won’t bring on someone just for the sake of bringing them in. What’s the point in me wasting the money?”

why then haven't you signed Ward, Ince or Dawkins. By your own admission you are only bringing in certain players so what is going on ?/ Not fair on them if you are only "having a look" - but then that is not what you are doing....or are you ??Nicholas said:I’ll only bring in people if it is going to make us better. I'm hoping he's seen enough from Ince, Ward and Dawkins to sign at least a couple of them. But he may not plan to start them v. Sunderland, so rested them today?golfaddick said:

I agree! I didn't even feel pleased we drew with Brighton and beat Norwich! And I believe RD is gonna leave us short on players and when he will sell us to Aussies after the loan windows shuts on 31st August!!!!BR7_addick said:We are in the most pathetic position at the start of a season yet, absolute shambles, and if anyone thinks this unbeaten preseason is anything to go you’re simply delusional, Sunderland will wallop us.

Aribo is worth the most money of the players who are fit.2
-
He's talking rubbish like those before him. We all know he himself will want 3/4 in but he's been told players have to be sold first. We can't afford to be picky when you look at the squad. I am unsure on players like Ward and Dawkins but we need them to build even something resembling a competitve squad.JamesSeed said:

I have not ever looked forward less to the start of a new season than this one. I really couldn’t give a toss whether it starts or not. Just fuck off Roland you senile old bastard.11

He's talking complete bollocks. So we just keep selling players but only replace them with better players than we have. At this rate we will have the bare number to start the season.JamesSeed said:

You need a squad of decent players, not injury prone and who want to play for the club in an ideal world.
Sadly we are far from an ideal world at Charlton, we have a cunt of an owner, no senior management, a very inexperianced temporary team manager and a bunch of Aussies that have just wasted a wonderful opportunity to get the fans onside.
Like the wankers before him Bowyer will say what he is told to say.
I truely want him to do well but he has both hands tied behind his back, pity he just doesn't have the balls to say it how it is...........SHIT.

No doubt Bowyer is in a tough position. But I got the impression he was his own man and also the fact he wasn't particularly interested in going into management. I know that seems to have changed and getting the job at Charlton was very fortunate and I don't doubt for one minute he cares. But he is becoming another mouthpiece for Roland and there's no way he can be happy to sell decent players to bring in freebies, or that he's going to have to use youngsters to fill the squad.
I am all for giving young players a chance but that should be when they have impressed for the U23s and earnt it. Aribo, Phillips and Grant have all earnt a shot, but players like Morgan and Maloney are being played because we have no other options, not because they are ready to step up. On the law of averages 1/2 of the youngsters will probably play better than expected, but if we are relying on them to step up and play like seasoned pros we are in huge trouble. Bowyer spouting off there's not enough players out there to improve us is complete rubbish4 -
Maybe, but the general argument that you don’t buy crap players to make up the numbers Is what I’m agreeing with.
Bowyer is a straight talker, and keeps things simple. But ‘.....there's not enough players out there that want to join us’ is what he meant to say.
Somehow he seems to have got the team playing quite well from what I’ve seen, and today sounded ok too.
Mind you, it was a heavy defeat st Sunderland that did for Jimmy Seed.3 -
It wasn’t long ago Bowyer wasn’t even sure he wanted the job. I thought he might get pissed off with Roland buggering him about and tell the mad old sod where to stick his job. Like the rest of us I suspect he’s hanging around hoping better times are just around the corner.1
