    As well as my family, I took my Czech buddy Vincent, who forked out an airfare to see what all the fuss was about. I thought you might be interested in his perspective, as a big Sparta Prague fan ( he has taken me to a few, including big derbies and Euro ties) 

    The biggest surprise for him was how on the trains and around and about, the two sets of fans could mingle and sing without it all kicking off. (Although my nephew did his best to change that on the tube back, FFS...) Then of course the reality, that he hardly could believe before he saw it, that two Div 3 sides could fill Wembley with 75,000. The way Wembley ramps up the atmosphere in the 10 minutes before the match starts. He was videoing that. And finally he understood what I always argued is different and unique about British fans, who are engaged with every minute of the game, and roar like demons just when their team wins a corner. And as for us as a team, the way we clung on and slowly regrouped after that catastrophic own goal. He felt that would have sunk any Czech team and their fans in a game like that. 

    And that's what he has told me. To his friends I suppose  he will also  be saying things like, " feck me, this guy is 65, you should have seen him when the winner went in he was racing all over the box hugging everyone and screaming- and then some steward demanded to see his ticket, and his nephew looked like he was going to step in and lump the steward!" 

    And not a flare or detonator to be seen or heard the whole day. 1-0 to me.

    Embarrassing stuff. Apparently the free kick wasn't a free kick, the second goal should have been disallowed, Taylor, Pratley and Purrington were all offside for the first, they should have had a pen and Pratley and Bauer should have been sent off. You'd think some of that might have come up anywhere else other than their forum wouldn't you.

    Was gutted I couldn't make the final as was on my stag do in classy Benidorm. Watching in a bar in a full Sunderland kit but didn't give two hoots once we won! 

    Well done to the team and Phillips for rallying after the unspeakable - that shows unbelievable spirit. What a club.

    IN addition apparently Jonny Williams wasn't fouled at all and didn't do anything to change the game.

    Got back to Grantham about 8.30 starving so asked the other half to stop on way home. Walked into KFC in sleaford to see 2 Addicks ...then the manager comes out shaking my hand...bit twilight zone.

    I was talking to @1905 and @Steve Dowman after the game yesterday and said that days like this make up for all the shitty 1 0 defeats at places like Grimsby, Barnsley etc over the years.

    I thought Parker has been much maligned.  He’s been getting into some great positions and whilst not the most skilled no-one can fault his work rate.  And before anyone says that effort alone is not enough, I’d rather have a mediocre 100%er over a couldn’t give a shit Fosu any day (as I suspect Bowyer does)

    tears of joy at the end and half hour after it finished and forever .

    the look on my sons face was priceless as we bounced in celebration .

    i just put him to bed (and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree) he said ,  “I still can’t believe that , I think we lost “ nuts ! !

    I said last year we didn’t score enough tap ins under Robinson. We started last season scoring wonder goals, which is great, but you won’t keep scoring them all season.

    I love how we look to create those type of chances. As well as scoring goals from them other moves have also seen us win a lot of penalties.

    WOW. Great great day yesterday.Even when that own goal went in i just felt we were still going to win. Sometimes you just know and i think the difference between this and the 98 play offs and all those we've been in, in between is that the fans and players just knew we would do it and that it was our time. Really hope the takeover goes through now and Lord Bowyer can get stuck into re signing all the players and adding a bit more quality in certain places. Do that and i think we'll finish top half, no probs. If the takeover were to happen this week i'd be quite confident we could sell in excess of 15,000 season tickets - by the end of the week!!!!!

And now Charlton have got their own Michael Thomas moment. I've watched this clip about 50 times, it never gets boring, just pick a different face to watch every time and then the mass carnage across our end of the stadium. Glorious.



    So well put. These clips are really like some sort of renaissance art. Different stories going on all over the place - disbelief, sheer joy, ecstasy, LIMBS - everything going on.

    Both Purrington and Pratley are thought of as defensive players, but both of them were the players busting a gut to get onto Taylor's excellent cross, a week after Pratley did the same for the goal against Doncaster. That's something that JFC did very well last season

    Indeed we have a good variety of players in midfield this season, the likes of Reeves and Morgan who sit deeper and spray passes around, Aribo who dribbles the ball into the box, Williams who runs with pace and Pratley who for an older battler can still run into the box very effectively
